Top #3 Warcry warbands you'd like to see.

Recommended Posts

With the release of Warcy 2nd edition and the somewhat 50/50 split pertaining to all warbands thus far being chaotic in nature what would your top three warbands be to see hit the table? Something new, something reimagined, it does not matter.

Bonus: throw in a monster you'd like to see.

•1 Kruleboyz

Beast breaka klan in nature. A couple handlers, a pack master and a pack of hunting (insert cool beastie here)s.

*Seeing as they have a warcry box I'm going to assume that krule fans shouldn't hold our breath.

•2 Spiderfang

Perfect time to reinvent or update. For those of you familiar with the Gremlins 2 movie I'd like to see grot spider driders. 6a7e2eeb1057858ab06ca4391dbd9fd6.jpg.ac8b3178094fa1a42d404380297a5fdf.jpg

•3 Seraphon

Bonus monster: Troggoth Hag

For each grand alliance:

Order, naturally lizardmen would be a good fit, but warcry kits basically don't just update an existing archetypes so I don't expect new saurus or the like. As with chaos marauders we'll get something similar, but which doesn't quite fill the same role.

I'd like to see some wardancers, as that's a classic warhammer archetype we've not seen in a while. They could be  Kurnothi, wood elves, or even sylvaneth dryads.I

The other option would be militia and mercenaries, get some of that classic dogs of war feel.

Death: some sort of mortal death cultists would fit the bill, as would ghouls of course. Again I wouldn't expect them to be from a specific faction and echo it's roster. But rather something which is its own unique thing, but fits in somewhere after the fact.

For chaos I only really want chaos dwarves, but I suspect that what we'll actually get are a season of god specific warbands. That could be cool if they keep pairing a major god with a minor one. They are pitting Hashut against nurgle, so why not warbands for necoho and zuvassin, maybe even Malal if they've somehow cleared up the rights issues.

Destruction:

You can do anything with this alliance, and they should. New monsters, new mercs, new weird ogor bands, insane goblin cults, human gorkamorka worshippers...

Really the sky is the limit and they should make the most of that as they did for chaos last year.

I suspect the chaos gid themed bands are most likely to actually happen, but I just want non humans. I don't care what as the models will be great regardless. But throw a bit more diversity in there. Not every dwarf needs to be aligned with KO, FS or cities. Nit every Orruk needs to be an ironjaw. Lets just see sime weird stuff that doesn't quite fit. That's what warcry does best!

1. Bonesplitters - I would like some new sculpts for the Boarboys + Maniak.
(if it needs to be something swamp related i would pick Spider Riders + Boss)

2. Kurnothi -  An archers/rangers/wardancers unit that goes along with Qulathis would be the dream.

3. Skaven - I dont even own any Skaven but i like the new sculpts they did for Eshin and would like to see some Gutter Runners/Night Runners. Might make me buy into the faction if they do this.

While I'm disappointed that this box is just chaos again I really like that Warcry thinks outside the box when it comes to the warbands.

This feels like a great place to expand the Kurnothi. The forests of Ghur is a great place to reintroduce them. I'd love to see them be a bit wilder than the minis we've seen so far.

I'd love to see a destruction warband that isn't greenskins, something completely new.

Having said all that I'd love to see a saurus warband. One of the things I like about Kill team is how the newer kits let you build a generic unit or a unit of specialists. I'd love something like that for the saurus. I'd also really want them to push the savagery. One of the biggest problems with the current minis is that they look kind of dopey.

Something like the K'daai for Fyreslayers.

Whilst Fyreslayers arguably don't need yet another infantry unit, Warcry is obviously a game about infantry units fighting other infantry units, and a more unique Fyreslayer infantry unit is better than nothing at all (hello Shadowstalkers).

I know in Fantasy they were a Chaos Dwarf unit, but ultimately I don't think it's unreasonable for Fyreslayers to get a unit that really emphasises the fire fyre side of things. Particularly when their models already incorporate a few nods to the Fantasy Chorfs. Obviously the lore would be different (no Daemons here).

1. Ogor Maneaters. Its the perfect place to make a unit of 3-6 Maneaters with gear from across the Mortal Realms.

2. Troggoth Herd. Again a unit, probably only 3 of a new Troggoth breed. Maybe even make them the Sloggoths but untamed so bipedal, they would make for a very tall, slender and creepy Troggoth.

3. Saurus Warriors. Id love to see a new Saurus Warrior model, maybe with a new Kroxigor mixed in.

Monster. Either a plastic Troggoth Hag or new breed and an updated Mancrusher model.

After seeing the Gnarlwood map I’m hoping those ghoul rumor engines are now for the Deadfang Tower Flesh-Eater Court-

And yes that’s a Flesh-Eaters symbol and not Soulblight:

https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/wiki/Category:Death_Runemarks
(come on guys, you know vampires like flashier dragon and monster symbols rather than go “I’m a bat!” route)

So it ends up being like the Grymwatch who went to Beastgrave to slay a terrible monster for their king, so too the Deadfangs are on crusade as noble knights that erected a tower outside the monster forest to go on a royal hunt.

2. Ironjawz, with their UnderWorlds warbands in rotation it’d be nice for the super-sized orruks to get something flashy here. Maybe an all Gore-Gruntas wild hogs(go for Mad Max motorcycle gang but monsters vibe) band who dominate the ground fighting forcing warbands to stay up high or use obstacles or platforms to avoid their overpowering speed & attacks so they don’t get krumped. Tho the Wild Hogz are counting on the meat trees to force them back down.

3. Fyreslayers, never enough Fyreslayers love and who better for Camp Fortune to hire than mercenaries that can hurl lava to burn down a forest of carnivorous trees and clear a path to the Seraphon spaceship first?

Edit: K’daai would be a great Fyreslayers unit. The Corebook already notes the Life Flood from Ghyran caused Aqshy to manifest dancing Fire elementals(so more jaunty and mischievous spirits than dark and grim daemons) so that could be something they easily tame via their lava priests and Fyre runes.

Personally I don't care all that much but I'd like them to use the chance and turn units that are needed in AoS into new warbands... would be a cool way to give armies that really need a bone thrown into their general direction new units. I'd also prefer fewer Chaos warbands. Chaos got enough cultists units already, barely any of them can be really used in AoS as few have decent warscrolls.

I am going to take from @EccentricCircle's lead and pick for each GA. I want to emphasize the theme of different forms of worship and expansion of the mortal realms as seen in the previous sets. I will do three for each Alliance because I am that indecisive:

Order:
COS - Valaya's Valkyries a group of Duardin women on pegasus ponies embracing a side of the norse influence of Dwarves often overlooked. Disposed but in lore will work alongside any Duardin and can provide a bonus ward save based on Duardin Keyword,
Seraphon - Oxyotl's Hunters a group of Chamelon skinks that prowls the Eight points and have returned to Ghur to retrieve their lost artifacts.
IDK - Abyssal Kin a group of casteless from the deepest depths that have begun to take on more nightmarish forms.

Death:
SBGL - Mortal thralls a bunch of deranged humans that worship death. I have pitched the idea of a witch based faction based on puritan aesthetics but I would also be happy to see that here. A bunch of fanatics that have become the antithesis of Which Hunters.
FEC - Questing Cavaliers a mixture of bizzare ghouls using the spines of horses as deranged hobby horses or decaying rabid horses with corpse riders impaled onto them... I mean a return of the gallant knights errant from Brettonia and the Empire of Old!
OBR - Bone abominates the test subjects for Bone Shapers left at the outskirts of society to band together and try and prove themselves to one day be completed and taken into the service of Nagash or mulched into dust by enemies. Something akin to a sentient chaos spawn striving for normalcy

Destruction:
OWC - Kruel Raiders on Gnashteeth, nomads of the Kruelboys that trade between swamps and communicate between warclans. Outsiders that they will join in on war raids in hopes of capturing spoils of war!
OMT - Maneaters, literally the concept of warcry showing the realms before the mortal realms existed.
Gloomspite Gitz - Spider Riders like Maneaters another pretty obvious pick that would make people intensely happy!

Chaos (I will skip Slaves to Darkness despite them clearly needing more Warcry Warbands):
BoC - As much as I want all the Mono God Beasts represented I feel like this is Centigors time to shine! They have a unique vibe that always felt like a culture within the beasts of chaos and could absolutely use a plastic update!
Skaven - Micelords, hideous rats that work like the Gobbapalooza who see themselves as sophisticated and civilized leaders but are actually conniving effete self proclaimed leaders that wear fineries stolen in the night.
Legions of the First Prince - Kind of a cheat, but if I can throw out the idea of a plastic Ruinstorm Daemon Brutes style kit I will.
