tea_wild_owl
Hey all, I really like warhammer and it's miniatures, and sometimes I just want to make my models more unique by converting them. I want to share some of my work here and want to set up a showcase thread for your conversions as well. I want this thread to be an inspiration for other to see what is possible and to show them some tricks. Therefore, it would be great when each post contains additional informations on used models/bits and some tips and tricks (if you want to share them^^) let this become a thread of ideas, dreams and nightmares for the whole community
tea_wild_owl
I'll start with some conversions for my death army. firstly, I wanted to create an undead wikings theme. I used vanguard pelt cloaks for my grave guard, and my undead riders are converted from chaos knights, as are my vampire Lord and Wight king on nightmare steed. I used a Revell ghost ship to convert my mortis engine to a flying nightmare for any air combat. and sce armour parts are perfect to create animated armours possessed by spirit hosts. and the changeling is an awesome model for use as a necromancer
tea_wild_owl
sometimes a head change has a huge effect on a model. here are some examples for bird heads (gryph hounds, pallador mounts, Lord of change) that I used for my tzeentch army models. and pallador mounts are great models for tzeentch mounts, especially when using leftover Lord of change heads Edited August 31, 2017 by tea_wild_owl
tea_wild_owl
some conversions for my wanderer. more feral sisters of the thorn riding on the back of (fenrisian) wolves. some smaller upgrades for my eternal guards. and strongest allies :) Edited August 31, 2017 by tea_wild_owl
Kramer
Very cool. The Vikings theme works surprisingly well for death. My conversion heavy slaanesh army draws heavily from a spartan theme. After the first 1500pt I will probably widen the theme a bit to more Greek elements. Minatours, medusa etc. Currently only the first squad of 10 Warriors is finished.
Davariel
Great idea for a topic! Conversions are one of my favourite parts of the hobby and I've got more of them than I can count - but in the interests of brevity I'll limit myself to a few of my favourites: A branchwraith converted from that awkward 16th dryad you get in every box. I like using her as a general in small games since she stands out so much on the battlefield. What was a High Elf BSB and is now a... dragon noble with phoenix banner I guess? Boy does that sound wrong! I had the corsair banner lying around and thought I could use it to make a simple banner bearer with more motion than the stock model... and wound up using bits from more kits than I can count to get the exact effect I wanted. Complexity isn't everything, though - this vampire was a very simple conversion, but I love how it came out!

But with bits from 3 different suppliers 300 might be a bit much for my wallet
tea_wild_owl
my current project are some conversions for skryre acolytes (I don't like the tin models, and they are expensive as hell...) skaven blood bowl team is perfect, 25€ for 10-12 models (in comparison to 9€ per original model), so a full mob of 30 is achievable for 75€ instead of ~270€. I used some greenstuff pipes and tubes and adeptus mechanical parts to be more skryric

Kronos
In order, Morghur the Corrupter, Master of Skulls, the Shadowgave Ghrandukker u'Raak Throgg, King of Trolls, Wintertooth Some Chaos Trolls Some Chaos Sylvaneth Tips... Throw nothing, everything will be a piece someday, if not I now have a reject box, of anything plastic or resin, if it;s not used, it becomes base rubble which is what most of Morghurs and Throggs bases are, and then coated with textured paints.

Kisufisu
I'll just post some minis I've actually managed to take pics of: That would be the first half of my night/gutter runners. The other 5 are still unpainted and require some more conversions, as they look too "normal" atm. These guys are game-wise just basic clanrats of Clan Skryre. Will have to take better pics later, as for example the running warp-tesla guy has a more detailed fire effect behind him. I aim to do more of these, fluff-wise they are pretty much slaves, who the engineers talked into replacing their arms with weapons etc and told them they would become glorious heroes or legends of skavendom. In truth, the engineers call them by names such as "test subject 36" and just sit back making notes on how the weaponry works. Like "huh, apparently the flamethrower needs a better pressure-tank, that blew up quicker than expected."

TheWilddog
Did up a Mortis Engine to ally in with my FEC. My army is based around a deranged saint theme so I thought this fit in quite well. Now I just need to paint this bad boy.

Kisufisu
Some clan moulder stuff! The packmaster I built for the "inaugural kitbash competition": And a random moulder clanrat with a hand so big it needs somekind of injected chemical mix to even lift it: Sorry about the grainy pics, my phones camera isn't the best :E
