  1. So I'm having a bit of trouble with some Tzaangors (like in the title). I'm painting a Tzeentch army for a friend and I'm chugging along nicely. I've painted polychromatic horrors by the dozen (literally), a vortex beast, acolytes aplenty, and even a shaman on a disk and a couple of Gaunt Summoners. I've also painted the Tzaangors from the Silver Tower box and I've run into a problem. I hate painting Tzaangors. Nothing else in the army is such an utter shooting pain followed by numbness in the left arm to paint. I can't stand them. All the little swirly, wavy designs on their armor and weapons...oh my god... It makes me want to find nearest living thing and kill it. I've been saving them til last just because I really don't know how to paint them well without literally painting one model at a time. Truthfully they remind of painting Astra Militarum Scions and I hated every one of those too. Told myself I'd never go back...:'( Does anyone have tips on quickly painting Tzaangors? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Here's a couple pics of one the Silver Tower ones I've painted.
  2. That's a fine looking army list. One minor detail about the skink priest though. I never rely on them. I don't know about you but all of my skink priests are atheists. ? They consistently fail EVERY SINGLE prayer attempt. Last game my skink priests (yes, plural) each failed a 4+ roll five times. They do this every game, with or without rerolls, doesn't matter. ? It's become a joke at my FLGS.
  3. My understanding of the Steam Tank is that it is underwhelming (?) but awesome looking! However I'm new to Freeguild too so what do I know! I'll tell you what I know! I know that my FLGS has an old metal Steam Tank for sale and it weighs roughly as much as a 1970 AMC Gremlin, only denser. So here's a combo I came up with. Steam Tank + sock to protect your home from burglars. ?
  4. So I have a quick question about Demigryph Knights. I know they are not exactly superlative heavy cavalry, but they are getting cheaper. So how do most people field them; halberd or lance? Is the extra Damage on the charge worth it? I'm asking because I equipped lances on my Saurus Knights but find that they rarely charge more than once or maybe twice per game so the charge bonus is largely wasted. Demigryphs are a good bit faster and tougher than Cold Ones and have a charge bonus from the Hornblower so perhaps they can pull off charges more reliably. What does everyone think?
  5. Love it! I always appreciate podcasts that just love the game for what it is. ?
  6. The Fyreslayer box is fine as long as you make the Runefather on the Magmadroth with the Runeson and Runesmiter on foot. The Runesmiter on foot is prolly better anyway since he can burrow. If you make the Runesmiter on the Magmadroth then you can only make the Runefather or Runeson on foot, not both. So prolly not the best way to assemble it but otherwise its a good value. The Greenskinz box......yeah, that one might not be...great. ??? Hopefully if you're grabbing Greenskinz its for the love of the models! ? It is quite cool to see! However I would remind everyone that we've been having a discussion about a subject where many of us have different opinions. As per the Law of the Internet, when having a difference of opinion, we're required to interject some baseless accusations, ad hominem attacks, death threats, and angry, hateful ranting. We been waaaay too reasonable and polite for the Internet and I'm afraid the Hyperbolic Rhetoric Police are gonna come down us. I'ma help! "I disagree with you. You all suck and I hate you." 'GRRRRRR' ?
  7. This is a problem of maturity not game balance. If I have a larger collection and always use that advantage to try to win no matter what, then I'm being selfish, immature, and rude. AoS is a game involving 2+ players and playing a game like this without any consideration for my opponent is behavior I would expect from a selfish child. In fact I would suggest that the player with the large collection has the greater obligation to tailor their army to what they opponent can bring and so try to create an enjoyable experience for both players. If I have 5000pts of Seraphon and my opponent has Start Collecting Slaves to Darkness, I do not use my advantage in models to try to win. I use it to create an enjoyable experience for my opponent. It is impossible for a new player to achieve a balanced game experience. However that has nothing to do with game balance and everything to do with the new player's perfectly understandable ignorance of the relative strengths and weaknesses of all the moving parts of the game. Don't forget that 3 years ago everyone was a new player and had to learn the game from scratch by playing games, learning what worked and what didn't, trying things out, having some good games, and having some bad games. It seems that you are making the assumption that everyone is acting, in fact can't help but act, in a purely selfish manner. Having a fun and enjoyable game isn't a competition and it isn't a zero-sum experience. Both players can have fun without taking it from each other. I don't know anything about your local community but I truly hope the attitude you're describing is not representative of the people you have in your gaming community. It would drive me from the game knowing that I have to fight against the other players just to enjoy my hobby. Much better to simply enjoy the hobby with other people who share your love of AoS.
  8. The really disappointing thing is that you just summarized 90% of the online 40k discussion and all of the BoLS comment section. ?
  9. That is some really fine work he did. Whenever I play at my FLGS with the TK that's what I use!
  10. We're out here! In fact our store has had a monthly Open Play event without points for a couple years. I think Warhammer Legends is a marvelous idea and as a Tomb Kings player myself I'm looking forward to the update. I understand why there are no points. It is absolutely vital that GW avoid promoting 2nd hand sales of models they don't produce while not alienating players. This is a fine compromise and as the OP suggested, the community will make points for it soon enough. Whether those points are accepted for major tournaments(they won't be) is something to worry about later.

    Popkins Jr (2).jpg

Fun Fact: Young magmadroths are too small to hunt and cannot breathe fire yet. They feed mainly on small chili peppers and a savory Tabasco sauce suckled from their mother's "Tabasco Gland".

    Popkins Jr (1).jpg

Tagging along is Popkins Jr., son of Duchess and Popkins (magmadroth of the lodge's Runefather Frank-Grimnir).
  13. The Fyreslayers of Fyla' Delfya are a rarely seen but potent force in the Vale of Efengie. With the discovery of an ur-gold goblet in the near the Dark Forest, Runesmiter Country Mac and his magmadroth Duchess have emerged to lead the hunt!
  14. Just finished painting the Fiery Dorfs! I'm look at those sweaty back runes! ?
  15. I've never rage-quit myself but... ...I feel that rage-quitting is an important and sensible response to changing the rules for playing with your toys ONLY IF you burn your army and post it on YouTube. Get really angst-y about it and play angry Deth Metal in the background! For your ? and our ?!!!
  16. Wow! There are some gorgeous models here. I've only completed the Orks and Reavers but I'll make my own contribution. PS: I love the ghostly Guard some of you have posted and I think I'ma try to paint mine similarly. Look amazing and I'm told its fairly easy and quick!
  17. Those are some really strong rats!

The elves know him as Fi’ang Yalok; the dwarves know him as Zoenen Hoogstandjes, and he is known in the Northeast as Gaismunēnas Meistar. 2. Jyn'Leeviyah the Red, Wizard of the Sixth Realm of Ephysiyies; Mistress of Nature and Nurture; Reviver of the Springs of Gu’uthmagit; Seer of the Prophecies of the Temziet Mists; Keeper of the Sacred Tome of Deyfral; and two-time Wizard's Choice Award nominee. The Elves know her as Perimmäin So’it’thuri; the Vampires know her as Beyonce Bloodlust; the Tree Folk know her as Opal Vinewitch; and upon the isle of Meegas, she is known as Ukkosta Kassvista. 3. Spintax the Green, Master of the Third, Ninth, and Twelfth Realms of Ephysiyies, Wielder of Arcane Forces Compelling the Living and the Dead, Diviner of Unknowable Truths, Caster of Illusions, Destroyer of Lies, Dissolver of the Wall of Fire, Imbiber of the Nine Deadly Poisons, Author of the Pandenomicon, and Winner of the Wizard's Choice Award; the Dwarves know him as Nickelback Silverchair; the Angels know him as Mama Cassai'el; the Vampires know him as Cameron Orlando, in the South he is known as Lodestone Greatcraft. 4. Blorth the Brown, also known as Smanghanger the Diminished and known in Shrike as Banjo Pop Tart. He is well-known to be a total ******. 5. Telephys the White, Master of Life and Death. 7. Rolltide the Clear, weaver of the longest rope in Foon. 8. Jamillious the Mauve, Bringer of Feast and Famine, Master of the Great Plantation, Shatterer of the Triangle Trade Winds; the Dwarves know him as Dat Dude, the Elves know him as Always Holdin', and he is also known in the Far South as Boy. PS: None of this is my creation (except for painting the models). These are all Wizards from the Hello from the Magic Tavern podcast. Check it out!! https://hellofromthemagictavern.com/
  19. Absolutely! I spent waaaay too much time making them look like little nature dioramas of South Florida to not use them.
  20. My excitement is tinged with sadness. I seem to be the only human on Earth (including everyone at GW and the good folks running the SCGT) who loves his Jungle Swarms and Skink Chiefs. I say this because both SCGT and the General's Handbook have included points for every warscroll in the game except those two. I'ma have to house rule it. For General's Handbook, how does 80pts for a Skink Chief and 80 points for Jungle Swarms (min 2 - max 10) sound? Seems fair to me! The Skink Chief is definitely the weakest Seraphon leader and the Jungle Swarms are based on the points for all other swarms (except Snotlings which suck.)
