  1. I personally don't care for the cygor or ungor raiders but they can easily have a place if you like them or your meta is good for them. I fully agree on enlightened being a great pick and have considered double giants myself. Worth noting that one unit of raiders can be battleline since you have one unit of gors. No reason not to just to protect your GC's more. If you're not going to use bullgor or the slitherhelm combo then I don't see much reason to include a doombull, his output for points is always going to be better spent on say 6 more enlightened. When using a bunch of enlightened you can contemplate things that help them that might not usually see use. A beastlord aura, skullfray general trait, grashrak's warscroll spell, just things to think about. Considering all your brayherd are min size units you might be better served with gavespawn but if you took everything I said I think you'd have a different list entirely so just pick and choose what thoughts sound good to you and I'm glad to hear you've been having a good time with the new book!
  2. I wish I don't even have the bases to proxy it yet, but I promise to report back if I get the chance.
  3. I personally can't stomach Desecrating Brayherd just because of the Jaws of Gallet mission being an auto fail with only 1 objective at the end of the game. The multiple missions with only 2 objectives on the board are bad enough but auto failing before the game starts is my limit. I still have a hard time with Bestigor because they don't really look any tankier than gor with shields while dealing less damage. I know you can pack more wounds into a smaller area (40-60 as opposed to 20-30) but that's also less bodies on objectives and in allherd I expect you will get more than the 10 wounds back over the game. That said theres nothing that compares to a 30 block with 60 4+ wounds as far as anvils are concerned. I think they can be the better pick in a 20 man unit and are incomparable in a 30 but I'd rather run that in gavespawn to really make that tar into a pit the enemy will never get out of. I can't speak to the centigor and dogors. I assume they're overpriced but I thought that incorrectly about bestigor too. The centigor dont seem far off the mark in either case. What benefit are you finding in a 15 squad as opposed to 3 5's for more benefit from drunken revelry? Assuming your doombull gives out his fights last as intended of course.
  4. I promise all these text posts will eventually include an actual army pic but after slight changes I'm now pushing myself to finish the whole army to a battle ready standard by this weekend for a local tournament. I paint zenithal-contrast-base[battle ready]-drybrush-contrast-highlight[parade] and the army is literally 2 coats away from battle ready except I changed the list to now have to paint 6 tzaangor enlightened from scratch rather than the 20 almost completed ungor. So now my goal is finish 24 gor (so close) 3 tuskgor chariot (I can almost) 9 bullgor (taste it*) 6 tzaangor enlightened (from primed) All the bases In... 4 days lol Wish me luck * warning do not taste the bullgor.
  5. Strike and fade happens on their turn. So he was able to fight first and then teleport away through the trees meaning charging just gave him a free fight phase into my bulls.
  6. Huge congratulations! Judging from the response here it's almost as if GW's sales would really benefit from letting the community interact with people who make things for the company lol
  7. I cant believe they thought a minor points drop on Bestigor was worth a nerf to a unit that is generally considered to be not worth it. Cockatrice nerf was inevitable and I'm just glad they did it before they started getting allied into every other chaos army. Bullgor do pretty good damage so I'm mostly neutral about that change. Though I'd contend many people considered the points too high for the beasts so I'm a bit surprised to see more hikes for an army that's ostensibly already in the sweet spot for win rate.
  8. Quick question. Are tzaangor enlightened and tzaangor really the same exact body size? I want to be sure for some conversions. Thanks ahead of time.
  9. I believe it is once per game per "friendly unit on the battlefield with this ability." What's unclear to me is if you can bring say 3 and pick them one after the other to activate all on the same turn. It seems like you would pick 1 to activate then pick 1 to activate then pick 1 to activate since simultaneous effects are just carried out in an order of the controlling players choosing.
  10. I keep wanting to like the direflock but after looking over it again it just has so many problems. The fact that its "models can not issue rally and inspiring presence..." and not "units can not receive..." makes sense with the area the spell can cover but it means unless you tag the unit leader AND every hero/general/totem within 12/18" with it then the spell actually does nothing. On top of that it casts on a 5 making it negligible to dispel for your opponent and since on their turn they get to pick the order of things that happen "at the start of the hero phase" they can dispel it before using rally so it again does nothing. So you can stop them using inspiring presence on your turn IF you can tag every single model that could issue the command and you can prevent them using rally IF you tag every single model AND it's on your turn. The second ability is good if you can get it around a bunch of heroes but again since its "models that issue" they can just issue most commands from the unit leader instead and it's only a 5+ on top of that. Potentially effective against really really dense castles I guess?
  11. I still think you can't charge when you're engaged in combat but the doombull "slaughterer's call" command ability actually does specify the unit that attempts the charge has to be outside of 3 inches of an enemy which the blightkrieg rule does not.
  12. Well egg on my face I thought we were way past 15 hah.
  13. This is the kind of release favoritism that pushed me out of 40k.
  14. I know this is probably more a general question but I figured the input here would be valuable. Now that new belakor has been out for ages are people still generally okay with the idea of using the old model on the properly sized base? Maybe with a handy measuring stick in case height comes up?
  15. I don't have enough faith in GW to say with certainty that that isn't down to them forgetting or just not changing the names on the tokens. But I'm probably just bitter because my beasts didn't get tokens or dice.
  16. So in another case of "oops all spam" while list building I ended up contemplating this list. Skullfiend tribe Bleeding icon Skull altar Skarbrand Bloodsecrator with banner of blood Bloodstoker Realmgore ritualis general w/ high priest of khorne, killer instinct, blood sacrifice, & tunnel master 10 skullreapers ×3 5 wrathmongers That's it. Just throw a ton of skullreapers that rally on a 4+ at the opponent. Their damage is respectable even with almost no buffs and weve got buffs. Tunnel master maybe should go on the bloodsecrator instead but the way it works so nicely with the ritualists desecrate ability (end of move phase after teleport) is just really nice. 2nd prayer is really up in the air, maybe take an extra artifact or even gallation champion ability for leadership of the alpha on the bloodsecrator to rally more? First summon is probably definitely going to be another priest though to grab another prayer and then dogs for bodies?
  17. Side note for anyone like me who didn't notice. The beastlords base size was updated to 40mm with the new model. Might need to rebase. It's actually good for me because it makes him more proxiable for BoK if I want to try that (which I might). Anyway I FINALLY got in a game tonight with the new beasts against a highly skilled tournament opponent running his tournament list (causal unplanned pickup game I just didn't realize I was going up against the number 1 ITC ranked sylvaneth player in my area). I only call it a quarter of a win because he was very lenient about my mistakes and due to the mission being lurkers below and me stupidly charging Durthu on HIS TURN with the doombull command (allowing him to strike and fade) he COULD have won on turn 3 by controlling all objectives but chose not to in order to have a longer game. The only reason I consider it even that much of a win is because by the time I sneak captured all 3 objectives (thanks to blood taunt) to win it at the bottom of 4 I don't think he was necessarily trying that hard to win but he wasnt trying that hard to lose either. What I learned is never charge a sylvaneth on their turn and unbuffed gors can really bounce off of things so maybe not charging everything in on turn 2 would have been a better idea. Contemplating dropping the wildfire taurus to upgrade ungor to raiders but I never cast it and I want to paint at least this list before I change it up so I'll try it out a bit more before deciding. Chariots are not bad. I shouldn't have bogged them down into a castle quagmire but they still did okay and survived until turn 4.
  18. I personally do think generating depravity is a bit easy but why dread playing him in the tourney when you know you'll stomp him. Oderint dum metuant! Seriously though I know how unfun a rude opponent can be.
  19. Might be cheating since it's mostly last months pledge but this month I've got to finish the: 24 gor 20 ungor 3 converted tuskgor chariot 9 bullgor Tzaangor shaman I'm batch painting in a 3 step process of contrast/drybrush/contrast or shade over a zenithal that I personally thinks looks pretty good for tabletop standard at least so everybody is partly done but nobody is fully done. Ive already completed the herdstone and the first coat of the red skin/black fur/brown wood/silver undercoat for metals on the whole army. So now its purple cloth/leathers/bone/brass/steel. I promise to include a progress pic tomorrow when I should have finished the cloth and then finally getting a game in for the first time in ages hopefully that night.
  20. Third one down looks like he got his face smashed in a door but it only made him more handsome.
  21. Is skulltaker unique yet or can he still get artifacts and be a gally champ?
  22. Sadly I did not get nearly what I wanted done but I did repaint the herdstone and got 3 colors of paint down on the entire army. I'll try to remember to post. a progress pic tomorrow.
  23. I'm really happy for lizards but for me personally this show told me that Beastman aren't worth changing 5 bits on a 3D CAD to release a unit for a faction that desperately needs it and that thunderstrike armor means all off schedule releases have to go to stormcast to invalidate old stormcast ala oldmarines totally "not being replaced" by primaris. Ah well maybe I'll convert some "khorngor" to proxy as skullreapers or something and at least it's nice to have a new shaman sculpt. Wish they hadnt sculpted those metal ports right into their bodies though and depending on the bits I'll also have to source an extra head/hands/etc. Probably just won't bother. Between this and the not bullgor theridon and the not a centaur kragnos I'm getting a bit tired of all my armies "releases" being for other armies.
  24. Again I'm not offended. I don't lack awareness of stereotypes around both vampires and powerful evil women. I am just tired of it. It's boring and it's lazy and I know it's a carry over from a character that was written a long time ago but if your characters arent growing or changing in SOME way then stop writing about them. I guess I was just hoping theyd move AWAY from the tropes and not deeper down into them. Morathi came back as a woman who was both beautiful and an awesome snake monster with vague allusions to having escaped a very... toxic relationship to say the least. That's a much better progressed character than if she'd come back with a brand new sculpt that kept her old "****** out" approach to warfare can we agree on that? I mean why is it that all these evil women use sexuality as a weapon but not the good ones? Why aren't attractive men manipulating people with their pelvic persuasion? The vilification of female sexuality and power is not a topic for this forum so I won't digress any further. I'm just tired of the image of wargamers as a bunch of basement dwelling nerds who objectify women and then having GW release a woman as an actual object in current year. Playing into stereotypes gets you stereotyped.
