Routasydän
Hey guys and gals! Thought Id put up a blog here too to get some feedback on my minis and mayhaps some inspiration to get stuff done. I have a load of armies going on, some actually decent sized and some Im just pretty much beginning, even if I have a load of unbuilt minis for some armies waiting. These wont be in any chronological or w.e order and I tend to paint a mini from here and there, I seem to lose my interest in painting the same colours and minis from beginning to actually having something to call an army. So, I might upload a pic of a new dryad and next an Orruks Brute and so on But my back is killing me atm so Ill keep this short, pic time! First up are my speedpainted Nurglies, these are mostly done by washing and drybrushing with the occasional highlight. I painted these with a rather limited pallette, just to keep it simple and quick. The big guy himself The Lord of Plagues and my tiny Sorcerer I do have some close ups too if someone wants Blightkings Warriors Dragon Ogres, theres a third one too but its more or less the same. Ten of these doggies, all the same Then something with a bit more effort put into them, my few ready Stormcasts So there, some of my works Atm there are some Sylvaneth coming, whenever I have the time actually paint and my back has gotten better and whenever I get around to taking pics of the few Ive actually painted already and I have a pile of Orruks too, mainly Ironjawz coming sometime in the future. I have 5 or so 40k projects too but dont think ill be spamming them here, you can see some in my Instagram profile though, routaminiatures. Feel free to hit the follow if interested. I will try and keep this updated when I get stuff done, might take a while sometimes, especially if Im painting 40k. But enough jabbering, feedback is happily received, be it good or bad. -Routa
Routasydän
Quiet Ill just put up some more pics then. So, Sylvaneth, the army Im working on atm, still a lot to do but Im in for a decent start. Heres my 1000 point list Drycha Branchwych 10 x dryads 10 x dryads 10 x spite-revenants 3 x kurnoth hunters Im about halfway building this whole lot and Ive painted a total of 13 models out of the 35. a few Dryads, trying to get different colours on them, mainly different kinda browns and greys. Two Spite-Revenants, darker outcast look on them and my cameraskills ate away the highlights too.. First Hunter, messed up the blade and I might redo it.. Im painting some more while typing this so updates will come, sooner or later Wips and more pics can be found in instagram @ routaminiatures -Routa
Ademo
Some really awesome minis! They all contrast each other nicely! A big fan of the darker nurgle minis and the shared pallette. Can't wait to see more sylvaneth!Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Attackmack
Oh man I love Nurgle (Dont tell Sigmar)! Such awesome. models and I a gree with the above, the dark tone looks great! Very nice details on these minis, those BlightKings !! Awesome
Routasydän
The shared pallette is kinda nice paintingwise too, you really dont have to figure anything if you paint similar things on every mini the same way @Ademo and my thanks. Thank you @Attackmack ! There are five more Blightkings coming at some point
Lysandestolpe
oh man, these are sweet. Although I would really want to persuade you to go work on those teal horns and bring then up to a brighter color. The nurgles are so dull they need some kick to them. keep up the great work. Orange
Really love the autumn colours of the Sylvaneth, the odd bits of green really give some good accents.
Routasydän
Thanks man! @Lysandestolpe Teal horns? As in teal coloured? Wut Thank you @Orange I was kinda unsure at first if I wanted to add green in there but Im kinda happy I did
Soulsmith
These are really nice. Your sylvaneth are especially striking. I feel the use of the same colour on the skin and armour of the nurgle guys though kind of reduces definition in a sense? I'd give the armour plates a brighter edge highlight, especially when it meets flesh.Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Routasydän
Thank you @Soulsmith I know the pics dont show it too well, but the skin is actually fairly different compared to armor, even though there are some same colours involved but the end result is mainly due to everything being washed with Agrax. Armor is painted with castelan green as base and straken on the edges, skin on the other hand is Steel legion drab, drybrushed with castelan and straken greens. My very limited pallette is a good thing at some places and somewhat of a curse on the others but Im fairly happy how they look irl, and considering how fast theyre painted Anyways, I get your point, a bit more work on them would make them pop out more and maybe make them look nicer, it also means more work and more time spent
Soulsmith
Ah no that's alright, I know that without professional lighting yeah the straken green drybrush will dominate since the grey will just go darker. Certainly a good palette, and your armour trim is a striking contrast which is cool.Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Routasydän
Id say the most visible difference between the armor colour and skin can be seen on the hounds as the fur is actually painted the same way as the armor, just with drybrushing insted of edge highlights. I need more light sure @Soulsmith but Im always happy to receive criticism and I had the very same thoughts bout the armor and skin at first but ended up going for meh instead of Ill try something different

Routasydän
Ah, yea @Lysandestolpe they are kinda bright at first but I wash them with Druchii violet give it a shaded look like on the rest of the minis, could try brightening it a little before the wash next time
Callidan
Hey just found this thread. Your work looks fantastic. How did you do the horns on Bloab? I'm going to be starting a Rotbringers army soon and was thinking of darker horns. I see that you washed it with Druchii violet but did you use as a base? Routasydän
Hey, thanks! @Callidan Always great to hear that someone has chosen Nurgle, the one true god The base is Naggaroth Night I think, and its highlighted with old Warlock purple and/or a similar color from vallejo and you might wanna mix them together as a midtone for the first highlight and then use pure warlock and finally use the already mentioned Druchii violet to bring them the colours together and darken it up a little in the end
Routasydän
Added these pics to the january contract already but guess Ill put them here too Pics are from IG, cant get enough light for my camera atm, so dont mind if they seem kinda bright. Branchwych Third Spite And my Wyldwood, which doesnt fit anywhere where I could take a decent pic I do have some closeups of the trees itself though if someone is actually interested More Sylvaneth to come ! Ademo
Amazing woods! If I ever pick one up I imagine I will try something similarly autumnal. Did you airbrush the leaves or wet blend? Or something entirely different?Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Routasydän
Thank you @Ademo ! Just drybrushed them Mostly just red but then drybrushed some of the edges with orange and then yellow and on green with Moot green first then yellow. Simple! Davariel
I love the vibrant colours on your Sylvaneth! A lot of autumn schemes end up looking a bit dull and washed out - it's great to see something that breaks the mold!
Routasydän
Thanks for the compliment @Davariel I like to keep my minis somewhat cartoony and bright coloured Looks better from a far.
