SilentSentinel Posted October 19, 2023 Share Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) I wasn't able to complete my goal last month due to uni bombarding me with assignments so last months goal of painting 10 ghouls, 3 crypt horrors, a marrowscroll herald and 3 crypt flayers has carried over into this month. So far I've got everything done except for the 3 flayers. I'm typically a somewhat slow painter so I'm pretty happy with how much I've been able to get done over the last few weeks. MitGas Posted October 20, 2023 Share Posted October 20, 2023 Got two larger buildings, two bird-dog statues, a head of Sigmar and some tiny wall mostly done. I‘ve done the oil wash a bit too dark, so I‘ll have to drybrush some things again and then paint in the last few details (mostly just dirty up things) and fix my matt varnish on the fountain. Thankfully I could remove mist of the frosting with olive oil (yes, you‘ve read that right). But I‘m pretty happy with it so far, still needs some love though in places. I hope I manage to finish it in October. oh, and I totally wanna add some brown-green-greyish murky water to the fountain too. That will be fun. This is my first go with contrast paints and my first attempt at blending and I'm really pleased with the result. As you can see I'm far from being the best painter but I do it for the fun, and I have fun. Did finish building my remaining Nighthaunt models and primed them. MitGas Posted October 26, 2023 Share Posted October 26, 2023 Tried something new… now I wanna do swamp terrain. 🤦♂️ I‘ve done it with multiple layers of vallejo still water as I‘m not sure if resin would mess with the plastic model (or the paint) due to it getting hot. The first layer was a bit too green/slimey so one sees a bit less detail from the ground than I wanted tbh but it turned out pretty okay ultimately in real life. Anyways, the recommendation of mixing it one part still water/one part paint it definitely wrong. I‘ve used waaaay less paint (resin needs even less) and it‘s still too murky.
