Subscriber SunStorm Posted April 21 Subscriber Share Posted April 21 Talking about daemon releases, I wonder if we would see any new types of Daemons. As far as I can see, there have been very few new types of daemons released since the very start, 30+ years ago. Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness describes the servants of Khorne/Slaanesh: The Bloodthirsters, Greater Daemons of Khorne. The Bloodletters, Lesser Daemons of Khorne The Fleshhounds, Creatures of Khorne The Juggernauts, Steeds of Khorne The Keepers of Secrets, Greater Daemons of Slaanesh The Daemonettes, Lesser Daemons of Slaanesh The Fiends, Creatures of Slaanesh The Mounts of Slaanesh, Steeds of Slaanesh Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned describes the servants of Nurgle/Tzeentch: The Great Unclean Ones, Greater Daemons of Nurgle Plaguebearers, Lesser Daemons of Nurgle. Nurglings, Daemonic Servants of Nurgle Beasts, Creatures of Nurgle The Lords of Change, Greater Daemons of Tzeentch The Pink Horrors/Blue Horrors, Lesser Daemons of Tzeentch Flamers, Creatures of Tzeentch Discs, Steeds of Tzeentch Outside of these, I can think of Screamers of Tzeentch (unmounted discs?) Brimstone Horrors of Tzeentch Plague Toads (FW), creatures/steeds of Nurgle. Rot Fly, steeds of Nurgle. Furies - Unaligned Daemon Brutes (FW) - Unaligned? Even Kragnos is listed in the store for Ogors: 1

We're definitely getting some more heroes for each side. The big question is whether we're getting another unit for Skaven. I'm pretty confident there won't be 40 clan rats. Recent boxes have aimed for variety. It wouldn't surprise me if we see a unit of stormvermin or acolytes. The other option is a larger rat ogre unit with pack masters similar to the reclusians. This could throw away the theory about a box with scenery on it. Unless they go wild with the launch box.

Would you consider chucking it on sheets and sharing so that we can do some different analyses and what not? Yeah. That was the initial plan, but I finished it right before going to bed yesterday. Here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MciOc6Sfgwe17zICxG3DSAnIgHMKy6KeGM5egSuFCCI/edit?usp=sharing Bear in mind some years could not be 100% accurate, as I noticed some years in the sprue say the year before the announcement, but for the purpose that I had in mind, it is doing its job. Unless we are counting Underworlds Warbands as well. 3 Editions of AOS and Ogors have had 2 Hero models and a Terrain piece for mainline AOS. Everything that is for sale in the store under the Ogors category. Made it easier for me.

I don‘t think a range extension for daemons is likely, they are pretty complete overall, especially because each God has to have basic troops and specialists so there is little room for more. Doesn‘t mean that there won‘t be anything new but I think that‘s more along the lines of a unit here or there. The only way they would really introduce a bunch of kits would be by making more unaligned daemons and while we saw some of those in HH, I‘m not sure they gonna go in that direction on a bigger scale. Unaligned daemons would be the most „standard“ cookie cutter daemons and since GW wants to make their IP more unique than less unique, I doubt such a move. Perhaps the Malerion faction will get something daemon-like, they‘re said to lean into shadow-daemon/draconic themes. 🤷🏻♂️

Biggest error I see is that a bunch of Khorne Bloodbound from early AoS launch are listed as Fantasy Kits. Of those, only Skarr Bloodwrath, the Skullreaper/Wrathmonger dual kit and the Bloodthirsters were released in Warhammer Fantasy End Times. Khorne is the one I had more problems finding the dates. I guess they have to be in this bracket: I got the dates form the sprue straight from the GW pics. In total war they have the basic daemon unit and then a unit comprised entirely of champions. For example they'll have seekers of slaanesh and then a unit of heartseekers of slaanesh (which is the name for the seekers unit champions in AoS). They're similar to their basic counterparts but with nicer models, more detail, of course better stats, and smaller number. They could do something like that in AoS quite easily. Or they could go for super elite along the scale of minotaurs like they did with the ruinstorm daemons. All the non beast daemons tend to follow the same sort of scale and size which is far less chaotic than it could be. No reason you couldn't start seeing exalted heralds that are the size of an ogre or a hulking bloodletter with a great axe. Lots of possibilities.
