  1. I feel it will be a mechanic like BoC going forward. Also with this formation and the Depraved Drove, there are two formations Slaanesh can access even if the book is further away than February.
  2. Just wanted to add, the idea of a Sylvaneth battalion is it gets you the option for a one-drop that still actually puts stuff on the table and your Ancient can benefit from the +1 cast/move. I'm going to assume summoned dryads don't benefit from the battalion ability?
  3. New peopel show up often and it's good for them to run into some older material to help them out. We aren't swimming in content on the whole even if Sylvaneth is one of the more covered armies of the last 2 years. Toot that trumpet! Yes and Yes. I like running a lot of big guys (face Blight Kings often) so I like spamming 10-man units of Winterleaf Dryads backed with trees and a stomp.
  4. Doombulls aren't to be underestimated at putting out a good amount of dmg. The Slaanesh batallion can help large units of Beastmen (re-roll 1s on 10+) or make a fast army faster but still sits in an odd spot. Also that Harp players ability is GONZO good. I imagine they will sell a lot of Wrath and Rapture before LVO
  5. This is an interesting point to think about. I don't think BoC sales were as ever as bad as Bret/TK and it was an army aesthetically people latched onto and a project worth doing. While a tournament meta probably sees BoC a struggle, the book on the whole was in the direction people have wanted for 8+ years. Even the low level staffers have commented at Manager Meetings the higher ups are impressed with AoS 2.0 and BoC selling better than initially projected. Lets translate this to say, Wood Elves. Combine Wanderers and Sylaneth and put the Waywatchers and Wardancers back in even as finecast. All they need is a Wanderer books with some mechanics to allow Sylvaneth to be mixed in much like Brayherd and Warherd. Add some modified allegiance, item, magic tables and you may see sales like Wood Elves generated in 2005. GW is even hinting at the old Orion/Ariel lore in the core rulebook (please also don't respond with "yeah but Alarielle hates the Wanderers blah blah"). I understand "we want new AoS aelves" as KO and IDK are genuinely really refreshing armies to see and the way AoS allows lore to be built is enjoyable for hobby, gamer and lore enthusiasts. But GW could do better, retconing their own "clean slate" idea with AoS and toss more support on the "back into AoS bandwagon" resurgence that is going on right now.
  6. Harvest boon is a great battalion. The movement and casting buffs are quite good. Plus Dryads are still a rock solid BL choice. And coincidentally, my 2005 era Dryads are all autumn colours Also much thanks for confirming my question. I've been collecting Wood Elves for 31 years now and miss playing a more classic style of them. I love AoS but after the Beasts of Chaos book came out I sure starting pining for a combined army even just for friendly pick up games.
  7. Sorry if I am beating a dead horse. Can I take say, Winterleaf as part of my Living City and gain the benefits from that, then other Wanderer, and the Sylvaneth (mainly dryads looking at +1) gain the ability of the formations and I still have the overall benefits of the Living City? Thanks!
  8. Sounds like another new army. *I hope my comment spawns a BoLS and SpikeyBitz baitclick article and I get some ad revenue. I wouldn't be surprised for another Aelf release, particularly tied into Slaanesh. Haha well no.
  9. Originally I got both on my iPhone they day they were released. I suspect they have been reprinted in other forms such as Inferno and yes Prince Maesa. If there is an Advent entry for him that may genuinely be new? The book is unreleased but upcoming. However it is a full length novel, not one of the shorter novellas he's written about Deepkin. I would highly recommend you get on BLs mailing list. I just email them directly. There is a Contact Us address on their webpage. Also when they post on social media (FB, Twitter, etc) follow up there and say "hey I'm really excited that there is a book coming out with a unit I love" or whatever. I also rate things in iTunes (or whatever the iBooks store is on my phone). 5-star for anything wood elf related
  10. Yes and No. Being the last of the 4 you can see what is missing and what they would fill in, based on previous releases, current direction and lore. While I am also of the same mind to say "I'll believe it when I see it" looking at GW you see patterns by just following the trends.
  11. Sure but that doesn't mean he will always be in command range for the re-rolls. I believe it is close range. The AoS group creator on FB Larry Barbra is a champion of 200 Ungors and has been for a couple years. I don't know if he has an account here; I suspect he does.
  12. David Guymer has a unit of Wardancers in his upcoming Idoneth novel. I highly recommend when it comes out, buying it and letting BL know you bought it for the Wardancer lore. That's how you get more. Also there are 2 Guy Haley releases (one audio drama, one novella) about a Wanderer Glade Lord on a Great Stag. They've been linked,... maybe in the Pre 2.0 link so at any rate search them out and give them love also
  13. The BoC rumour coming true was delightful and honestly surprising we got something like that.
  14. I think the issue people have with Rangers is White Lions and Executioners have some really good abilities for fewer points. But it's a vacuum unless you are playing mixed order and have those units. Thus people miss this key detail constantly which as done well for me. Gors,.. also suck. Neat lore though. I quite liked the rulebook lore about the Kurnouth being whom Alarielle goes and romps it up with seasonally. I feel they are kinda bringing back a bit of the old lore people still want rather than a 100% re-write of the universe.
  15. I'll probably butcher this but you buy the batallion, fill the requirements (IIRC 1 hero, 3 units, cheapest Centigor) and you gain the benefits (re-roll charges vs characters with an item). I would be quiet keen to try the batallion out to summon in some daemonettes, etc.
  16. It is obvious at this point Wanderer shooting/gun line is get pegged down a notch. The BoC book showed what synergy can do for units and man,.. there are a lot of Wanderer warscrolls I want a re-write for. But I would start looking more at combat oriented since shooting isn't going to get me anywhere, at least. This is good and something I neglected as much as the flip-side sword argument. My local meta doesn't have ghosts that I've faced and I see a lot of saves. Overtninja makes great points as well. I also have 6 Sword Hunters. But I never run them #BecauseBlightkings.
  17. I 100% struggle with everything so I go online to complain. Just let it go buddy, making multiple complaints about it isn't getting anywhere. Email BL and say "I would pay money if you guys put all those stories in an iBook or ePub or .mobi." Then moving on dot com.
  18. Scythes. Reach and rend. There are maybe 2 people who fly the Sword-flag in the Sylvaneth thread but 6 Scythes do more damage than 3 Swords, especially if you see a bit of luck in your opponent with rolling 6+ saves. Also Rangers perform better behind EG since they have better reach than sword-hunters and don't take up your ally portion. Hunters are tanky, you want that tankyness to be part of your use.
  19. I agree, free stuff is bad and literally after a neat book, new models, free stories,.. total let down... O_O ffs
  20. Are you happy with your 6 man units? Does it often or ever equate to more than just ablative wounds? So you aren't taking Gore Pilgrims. I want to combine both Wrathmongers and Gore Pilgrims on a spam of Bullgors. Mine is a Bestigor BSB
  21. In the Storm of Magic novella Hour of Shadows the magical pool in a glade in Athel Loren which grants the magic to the wood elves is possessed with a Keeper of Secrets who takes form as one but made of wood. I recommend reading the book for anyone like me, a classic fan of Wood Elves and Slaanesh.
  22. I meant drop to 5. Also you don't want to really be pushing hugely on an alpha charge, second turn is the BoC way. I'm just trying to present a view of the BoC side, and less the Khorne side?
  23. I was reminded it was Wrathmongers I would want in as well. 3 drop army but they're worth it.
