  1. He also predicted winning the tournament 😜
  2. Every Sylvaneth army which is still popular and good enough these days. Just keep that in mind. Nope. All mine in 8th were Orc Boars and if i didn't already have 8 or 9 painted up I would do the same. If you like Centigors that much if you take the Slaanesh battalion and use the bonus move trait for Slaanesh (granted this means your allegiance is Slaanesh not BoC) they'll move even faster (+2" Move). Also there was an episode of the Honest Wargamer going into detail about Nurgle Centigors buffed by the Glotkin.
  3. A lot of pipe work in that realm @Gwendar 😉 Realm of Mario Bros? Nice write up, pictures served it well.
  4. maybe post them in both if possible. I've been playing 1000 point games of 40k lately (2 really young kids) and keen to get into 1k games of AoS as well. With Skirmish giving the local area a boost it may help to be a presence locally at smaller games and I'm quite keen to show the variation with older non-book armies like Wanderers, and Living City. Play the narrative and not just be some gamer who strictly pushes the top tournament list.
  5. I keep forgetting about that spell since Warhawks riders are no longer Wanderer. I was reading the mounted glade lord scroll yesterday, and felt he was okay, and with the Wanderer keyword and an item would be handy. I do too plus lots of females in that original line. you're forgetting that in 2005 they were OP for about a year (until the power-3 came out during 7th) and in 8th they were good for 13 months. Gotta ride that wave when it comes. I think even 10 EG are a descent speed bump,.. I miss great eagles. Dryads would be a fine option, or Spite Revenants since they are 70 points but,.. I guess EG are better then.
  6. Fair enough. I'd prefer not to buy Enlightened and just play with what I own. I have Bullgors and Bestigors so I'm using those happily
  7. The problem with 6 for me was paying for wounds to counter attack vs, just taking 2 x 3 and throwing them both, or something else at the enemy. If they can divide attacks and wipe out both units of 3 then the 6 won't hold up and you aren't getting reach. if Great Axes has 2" reach then 6 would be the clear winner. At this point i don't feel 3 man units are bad.
  8. Outside of tournament play is this really an issue for you? I'm getting a little tired of rebasing every edition. Ungors on 25, ungors on 20, ungors on 25 round... I put my Shaggoth on a large round (60mm ish maybe?) and didn't bother rebase since that's what was in AoS 1. My buddy used warhounds and Ungors. In 6th or 7th I used to put Daemonettes on Spider bodies for Slaanesh fast cav (before Hellstriders). For the height I built up the base for LoS purposes. I often wonder how effective the monster mash can be these days. At least in non-tournament game play. I think it was back in the Herdstone days someone made Raiders from Glade Guard with the hoods. I think Centigors and Razorgors both are descent. The Razorgor somehow got labelled as ****** but... I dunno,,.. I find them useful however that could be because I never got over taking 2 Great Eagles every wood elf game in 6th, 7th and 8th. I just find utility in units like that.
  9. I quite like my Wyldwood Rangers. Nice models, great reach, good stats. A synergistic combo would be great (if the Waystrider ability was a straight attack again it would be lovely) Wild Riders aren't a great choice but their movement is helpful for late game objective grabbers. I don't see them as too dissimilar to Centigors or Pleasure Seekers of Slaanesh (granted Centigors are 60 points less and better).
  10. hmmm either that was changed or totally missed a few years ago. I know it was common in the early days. So much for me owning Gryphounds,... He is a Stormcast Eternal. His ability is re-roll hits of 1s. Knight-Azyros is the proper spelling. So that can work on combat or CC. He also has some Mortal Wound output. Similar to a Nomad Prince.
  11. You can try Winterleaf to get the Phoenix in but unless I misunderstood the explanation you wouldn't have the Living City Allegiance as the Phoenix isn't in that list. Neat list. What about a Gryphound for the Sisters? If you have a Glade Lord on an Eagle what about a Knight of Xyros (spelling)? And I think a lot of us have been wanting to add back the mix of the two.
  12. The GG are better on that -3 then the SotW are better math hammer as the game progresses. 10 Sisters are far better than .5 better than 10 GG. If they didn't have that alpha -3 GG would be pretty much useless.
  13. Helps with Bullgors with Great Axes as well. Plus bonus high rend/dmg attacks.
  14. Winterleaf is 4 units. oh ah,.. I like Harvest boon particularly in 2.0 with the magic meta. And movement is like Rend. Really powerful to have more of it.
  15. I took a photo of the one page of the book from someone who bought it. I agree with you the investment was ridiculous. They could by now just release a PDF of the rules since I don't think the item is regular stock. I only play with Open War cards and pick up games. People fixate on tournaments, top meta and not just playing with your friends. There is a small subset of players whom play at that tier but for the most part the majority of gaming is casual.
  16. Not just you. People are taking the battalion so they are all the same. I wish they would change the Waystrider command ability to "attack again" akin to Slaanesh. It would make people look for alternative avenues. The army is pretty much neglected and even the bonus stuff we got was minimal and irrational (you can flee after losing half your army and still shoot). I would love to take an army of EG and Rangers with support for them. I look back at my 8th ed and they usually involved chasing weird things like "5 Great Eagles is good" or "EG bus" Wild Riders aren't awful, they just only serve the purpose of objective grabbers. Imagine if they were Centigor good. The problem is Fast Cavalry was a mechanic of basing a fantasy game off Napoleonics and AoS is a fresh start of a fantastical game. GW hasn't really figured out what to do with I have recently been posting and looking at the Living City to make an army more akin to what the classic Wood Elf army over the last 30 years. Treelords, Glade Guard, maybe use the old Wardancer scroll. Proxy the Halfing Hotpot as a Celestae Ballista.
  17. With Warsinger you can have +2" move (or charge or whatever it is) and you can build stronger casters. Smaller tax on the required units.
  18. Just wanted to add, the idea of a Sylvaneth battalion is it gets you the option for a one-drop that still actually puts stuff on the table and your Ancient can benefit from the +1 cast/move. I'm going to assume summoned dryads don't benefit from the battalion ability?
  19. New peopel show up often and it's good for them to run into some older material to help them out. We aren't swimming in content on the whole even if Sylvaneth is one of the more covered armies of the last 2 years. Toot that trumpet! Yes and Yes. I like running a lot of big guys (face Blight Kings often) so I like spamming 10-man units of Winterleaf Dryads backed with trees and a stomp.
  20. This is an interesting point to think about. I don't think BoC sales were as ever as bad as Bret/TK and it was an army aesthetically people latched onto and a project worth doing. While a tournament meta probably sees BoC a struggle, the book on the whole was in the direction people have wanted for 8+ years. Even the low level staffers have commented at Manager Meetings the higher ups are impressed with AoS 2.0 and BoC selling better than initially projected. Lets translate this to say, Wood Elves. Combine Wanderers and Sylaneth and put the Waywatchers and Wardancers back in even as finecast. All they need is a Wanderer books with some mechanics to allow Sylvaneth to be mixed in much like Brayherd and Warherd. Add some modified allegiance, item, magic tables and you may see sales like Wood Elves generated in 2005. GW is even hinting at the old Orion/Ariel lore in the core rulebook (please also don't respond with "yeah but Alarielle hates the Wanderers blah blah"). I understand "we want new AoS aelves" as KO and IDK are genuinely really refreshing armies to see and the way AoS allows lore to be built is enjoyable for hobby, gamer and lore enthusiasts. But GW could do better, retconing their own "clean slate" idea with AoS and toss more support on the "back into AoS bandwagon" resurgence that is going on right now.
  21. Harvest boon is a great battalion. The movement and casting buffs are quite good. Plus Dryads are still a rock solid BL choice. And coincidentally, my 2005 era Dryads are all autumn colours Also much thanks for confirming my question. I've been collecting Wood Elves for 31 years now and miss playing a more classic style of them. I love AoS but after the Beasts of Chaos book came out I sure starting pining for a combined army even just for friendly pick up games.
  22. Sorry if I am beating a dead horse. Can I take say, Winterleaf as part of my Living City and gain the benefits from that, then other Wanderer, and the Sylvaneth (mainly dryads looking at +1) gain the ability of the formations and I still have the overall benefits of the Living City? Thanks!
