  1. if only it was a chaos lord on dragon for the everchosen/darkoath/slaves to darkness.
  2. You might want to hang fire for a bit, War Cry and Everchosen are just around the the corner
  3. yes. But that's the official line from GW when their managers ask about brets and tomb kings. In a word, at this point in time... No.
  4. From gw’s point of view, the question they ask is what do they give that existing armies dont. TKs in gw terms are another skeleton army. They already have that and with a big wizard lich king figure leading it too boot. The only real usp are the constructs and aesthetic. its the reason they keep giving to managers who keep bringing it up in the managers meetings. as for brets... lets leave IP, chapterhouse etc all behind for a minute. they’d become nothing more that a proper medieval army in the king arthur sense of the word, quests, the grail and brave sir robin. Now other than the obvious, both armies have one thing in common... neglect. the first by the player base and the second by gw themselves, who couldnt get out of the knights in armour archetype. now, for me this beggars belief, as they managed to get elves to be fifty shades of pointy eared annoyance. they had so many chances to rewrite, re-invent and reinvigorate brets, but no. knights, armour, and some watery elf tart who sold them all down the river in tge end- because Elfs. Perhpas they could have been re-invented as they had been during the earlier editions of fantasy. they’d work in AoS, i really believe they could. They could have given them the narnia treatment so thst they were a human faction that was perhaps a noble mirror to chaos with magical beasts allying or being bound to them, their lords could ride the mightiest of dragons. Perhaps they have given the lady up for a druid and a ring of standing stones, and who knows, maybe even centaurs who are goodly aligned and not spawn of chaos. the realm of shadows could work for them, giving them their gritty dark edge. but it won’t happen. for it to happen there needs to be a demand, but also a reason to be there, and in the current realms the mothership in nottingham says no. If you want knights in armour on fantastical beasties then its stormcast. (Despite giving you several flavours of human factions who have fallen to chaos in the upcoming warcry). you've already got skeletons led by a lich god king. And now if you want brets, well, flesh eater courts now drip with enough hints at the fate of the brets as were. i like armoured knights, and masses of skeletons over renaissance humans in big trousers and gunpowder and zombies and hammer horror baroque coaches but thats just me. im as much to blame as anyone- they were both the armies i was always going to do next but never got around to, and now they are gone. 😞
  5. my biggest wish for the skinnydip dwarfs forge is that it has a comedy moving teeth element a-la monty python. That alone would make me buy it.
  6. there is this, and on top of all that's been said, old GW didn't help matters. You couldn't take FW models to throne of skulls events as FW units or models. They got alienated and not really seen as 'viable for the cost' alternatives. I can understand why they just concentrated all their pennies into their known good cash cow. Its easier for them. Disappointing though is the lack of updates rather than stuff that you get the feeling overall that they were just told to throw AoS something every now and again. If we had Fw stuff in GHB and the community helped out as you say, then I do believe we'd see them start to take us seriously when able. A new monstrous arcanum would be great, with scrolls of binding of beasts again - make a change to have some more endless spells of endlessness. The original Monstrous Arcanum had a really nice chart for what faction would realistically bind what. Things like chaos Dwarfs binding magma dragons into service for instance. Come on, if they brought back Rhinox Calvalry for Beastclaw Raiders they'd be sold out in minutes. The marienburg landship for Ironweld arsenal?
  7. I'd like to see however more of an approach like they did with the Grey Knights Grandmaster Dreadknight, where they took one model, bashed it with another and hey presto - new rules but with existing models. For instance, a slaughterpriest of khorne on warshrine, replacing the shrine master, or darkoath warqueen or chaos lord on mammoth for instance. or a character on a dragon / chimera / mammoth / beachball. Its no real cost for the mothership with new investment but would add a different lease of life or angle on some models, and just keeps things simple as well.
  8. that caught my attention straight away. Brass Despoilers - Doombull and three units of Bullgors Skullfind Tribe Doombull gets toys Aspiring deathbringer bloodsectrator and maybe some wrathmonger khorne farmers in armoured dungarees. not the best use of points, but doombull general - very khorne.
  9. the chaos space marine stargate... there's going to be lots of good conversion potential in that I feel.
  10. I really like the gladiator style guys, looking forward to seeing how they fit in to the AoS storyline, who they are, etc.
  11. so, what do we think the creature that the reaver is fighting in the background on the left is going to be? Look at hits tail... and then look at the latest rumour engine
  12. And while we’re at it... khorgoraths in packs of 6... thats slaaneshs number, come on gw, schoolboy error- 8 isthe number... 8
  13. News just in.. Forgeworld are releasing the khorne dragon character on foot. Finally we get a Khorne character that is a wrecking machine in combat. ... ... Oh wait... I've just woken up and it's morning. Joking apart, I'd like to see the characters in the brass despoiler battalion be able to take gifts and artefacts in this book, and I'll be very intersted to see what else they have jiggered around in there to liven things up. I was also thinking a khorgorath model might have been on the cards.
  14. Khorne army rocks up for a fight... "My warriors are screaming for slaugher... shall we attack my lord and reap skulls for the brazen throne?" "Wait until the brick layers have finished, patience my minion... I must have a set of stairs upon which to survey the field of battle."
  15. I dropped with the ghb 2017 I think, where compendium armies lost their points in there. All of the proxy this with that stuff dropped out of the compendiums around the same time, with many special characters becoming generic heroes. Forgeworld made a faux pas with this one and let it slip through the net. In the Tamurkhan Legion Army list the Hellcannon was in there, but because the rules were already written in the Warriors of Chaos Army Book, the entry just said to look in the Warriors book. (no point printing them twice if they weren't the same). When everything got ported to the AoS Legion of Azgorh compendium this meant that the hellcannon didn't get dragged over with it. Same with the Hobgoblins. In the case of the Hobgoblins, as there were no longer appropriate models the LoA compendium said use the grots from the GA destruction. A lot of people missed the point, and of course, there was much wailing an gnashing of teeth as the bitter debate over whether they were destruction or not. What people were not reading was that there is no model for a hobgoblin, but use a grot instead and it's part of a LOA army in respect to keyword allegiance - nothing changes, they were still hobgoblins with the LoA allegiance and why not a 'legion grot' keyword to separate them out.? Would have been a trick missed in my opinion as wolf rider sales would have soared. Now, here's my take on it. (wishlist/begging hat on...) Forgeworld has got the monstrous arcanum, which has rules for many loved but currently OOP models in there. I think it should extend this to the Legion book and give us our hellcannon back - which was after all a Chaos Dwarf weapon anyway and the warriors of chaos book made that clear. Also, our war machines don't have separate crew statlines making them very powerful as you can't snipe the crews off and weaken them. Perhaps @Ben could talk nicely to his FW contacts when he next visits the mothership and petitions them on our behalf to give us back our beloved cannon (with combined statline of course :p ).
  16. however untrue it is, darkoath led by a varanguard on foot is very cool - but cooler still - varanguard on foot!!!
  17. look that's quite enough of that with your gnawing through reality and popping up everywhere as you likee chatter. I think you're being unreasonable, you should be positioning yourself to maximise your opponents arc of fire so you can be killed in an efficient manner not cobbling together more gubbins and contraptions to make killing you harder. Rats... very unreasonable, I will inform the disposessed of Karak-Kaboom to have a word...
  18. @Skreech Verminking to the anything ratlike phone
  19. That model was 375 pounds and solid when it was around. they only sold a handfull of them and I bet there's more around now than have ever sold from forgeworld - much like the khorne dragon ... I bet he means the mammoth. To re-release the mammoth would be a big re-engineering exercise but not impossible. The could make the body soplit and hollow for a start - it would drive costs down (priced according to volume of resin not complexity) and also not destroy moulds the way the old one did. I do hope we get a nice chaos lord on dragon - I do miss that, but dear god don't make it like the two headed old chaos dragon - In my eyes that was terrible, sorry to say. The aesthetic of the khorne dragon though? now we're talking
  20. I agree, but it’ll be interesting to see what slant they put on these guys. i wonder if they will all get this preferred target thing that the warband have. Im particularly interested to see what new centrepeice if any and terrain peice and endless spells the darkoath/everchosen/slaves release will get.
