  1. This!!!!!!! I have about 100 as well and still feel short. Ugh, guess I need to crank through another 20-30.
  2. Liking the look of the army, even if it was a speed paint. What are you thinking of adding? I personally love Lady Olynder. She is both a sweet model and a mortal wound machine.
  3. The more I play this army the more I think the attrition game is the best way to run it. Against the most competitive armies I have had the most success with huge clumps of Ghouls backed with redundant buffers mixed with a few of our big bads (AGK on ZD or AGK on TG). These are our two strengths. This version of the game is so centered on objectives and massed troops that going elite seems a tough road to me.
  4. I have a pair of Wheels and have tried them in several games. They are of course not great but I have found them useful running up the field as a glorified distraction or to grab a secluded objective. They can be somewhat fast and that shines in most Skyre lists that are pretty slow.
  5. Love this NIghthaunt army!!!!! Really shows the favor and depth that can be added to the army: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/10/11/nighthaunts-in-venice/
  6. This is sweet news. Now we do not have to wait until LVO or AdeptiCon to get some preview action.
  7. No doubt. That is why I have really come to love AOS. It seems that the fluff and conceptual range is turned way up. I mean the armies that could possibly be released in this setting are fantastic. I can not wait to see what GW comes up with.
  8. I am not a fan of the Crypt Infernal Courtier as a general unless you are running Deathwatch. If you just make the Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist your general with MH you get two units of 3x Flayers for free. Just seems so much more efficient. Then taking out the other unit of Flayers and Infernal Courtier you have 620 to play with. Of course you need 300 for battleline Ghouls but that still give you some room to play with. I love the fluff of your list but I think there are more streamlined ways to run the core of the list.
  9. Thx I have really enjoyed this project so far, although painting 80 or so Ghouls is slowing down my enthusiasm a bit. That pink is Scale 75 Orcish Dermish, it is quickly becoming one of my favorite colors.
  10. Finally took a picture of my completed army. Got to about 2500 points. I might add a few things later, hopefully when the Bonesplitterz get some love.
  11. I think this is the key point. Horror need a little bit more support while Flayers tend to do better if the unit has to be left isolated or alone. Plus from a hobby and aesthetic perspective I just prefer the Flayer kit. There is just something fun about painting wings.
  12. What did you guys think of the list that did pretty well at FaceHammer (23rd with 3 major wins)? It was on the other end of the spectrum, totally committed to clogging the board with ghouls. 1 x Crypt Ghast Courtier (General: Dark Wizardry) 1x Abhorrent Ghoul King (Flayed Pendant) 1x Abhorrent Ghoul King 3x Crypt Ghast Courtier 40x Crypt Ghouls 40x Crypt Ghouls 40x Crypt Ghouls 10x Crypt Ghouls 4 extra Command points At first glance the thought of putting that many ghouls on the table brings a smile to my face. I would probably find a way to sneak the Ghoul Patrol in there as the pieces are there and it seems so in line with the idea behind this list.
  13. Here is my Infernal Courtier, Lord Stephanus Grand Master of the Order Of The Broken Lance. The Order Of The Broken Lance are the vanguard of the Penitent Crusade. Made up entirely of Infernal Courtiers and Crypt Flayers they rush forward to meet the foes of the Crusade with reckless abandon. The beginnings of the Order go back to the time of the Carrion King himself. In the early stages of The Atonement War the Carrion King lead an insane charge into the strength of the massive Khorne army occupying the country. The assault appeared so ill advised that even under the Carrion King’s delusional aura many of his followers ignored the order. Only a few select ‘knights’ followed him into the middle of the Khorne center. After a raging battle that culminated in the Carrion King breaking his bone lance in the chest of the fourth Bloodthirster Of Khorne he slew that day, the refugees of the Kingdom of Odentia emerged victorious. The few knights that joined the Carrion King were dubbed the Brothers Of The Broken Lance . From that day forward members of The Order Of The Broken Lance have served as the first line of the forces of Saint Simeon, always charging ahead with religious zeal to meet the enemies of the faith.
  14. Thanks. The fluff of the FEC is just so evocative that I wanted something that showed a little more of that great flavor. For the average Ghouls I have gone with two different body types. The ones on the left are from the Flagellant kit, the ones on the right are from the old Bretonnian Men-At-Arms and Archer kits. I will throw up some more picks of them when I get some of the units done.
  15. Bishop Basil the Pious, leader of the devotional clergy of Saint Simeon. This is one of my Abhorrent Ghoul Kings on foot who goes into combat carrying a reliquary supposedly bearing a finger bone of Saint Simeon himself. And the other pic is one of my basic Ghouls, the rank and file of the militant orders.
  16. The knights of The Order Of The Bended Knee. These are my converted Crypt Horrors. Fed the blood of the Abhorrent Ghoul Kings at the head of the Order these deranged monsters see themselves as pious knights wholly devoted to their task of defending Odentia and the spiritual legacy of Saint Simeon.
  17. During the Age of Might the Kingdom of Odentia in the Realm Of Death was a quiet fiefdom far removed from the main population clusters of the Realm. The political power in the Kingdom centered around the Order Of The Bended Knee, a loose association of knights who controlled the local countryside from their scattered feudal holdings. The Order’s political power was buttressed by their role in the religious ancestor worship/veneration that dominated the cultural landscape of the kingdom. The populace held deep respect for their ancestral dead, raising the most honored of these deceased up to the devotional level of Saints, who were prayed to for guidance and spiritual intercession. The knights of the Order depicted themselves as temporal stewards of the Saints, carrying out their spiritual will and taking over the Saints’ martial protection of the kingdom. The most popular Saint in the devotional hierarchy was Saint Simeon, patron saint of penance. In the early history of the kingdom, Odentia was decimated by plague. As the community began to fall apart due to the impact of the epidemic, a young monk by the name of Simeon led a spiritual resurgence that focused on personal penance as the whole community looked to the saints for forgiveness from whatever sins had brought the great plague down upon them. By leading communal ceremonies of confession and penance Simeon brought the fractured community together and helped them cope with the devastation that the disease was reeking throughout Odentia. As the plague eventually subsided Simeon was revered as a savior and quickly entered the canon of Saints when he died a few decades later. In the wake of Simeon’s death and canonization, the Order adopted him as their patron saint and linked his popularity to their political power. They took on the new role of spiritual guardians of the kingdom, as stewards of public penance and enforcers of communal worship. This was the state of the Kingdom of Odentia when the forces of Chaos surged into the Realm during the Age Of Chaos. As it was not one of the central kingdoms of the Realm, Odentia was not pivotal in the War Of Bones that saw Archaon invade the Realm Of Death and defeat Nagash. However, the tide of Chaos finally reached Odentia and the kingdom was besieged by the forces of the Dark Gods. The armies of the Everchosen overwhelmed the castles of the Order and ravaged the saintly monasteries that dotted the countryside of Odentia. The Order fought gallantly to protect their charges but in the face of the Chaos legions they were decimated and the entire kingdom was set ablaze. Refugees from the settlements of old Odentia struggled for survival, scavenging for whatever food and resources they could find. Slowly their humanity slipped away as they were forced to do unthinkable acts for mere subsistence. It began with stealing from each other and the consumption of domesticated animals like dogs and cats, but quickly escalated into grotesque scenes of cannabalism, It was this depravity that drew the Carrion King to Odentia. Unwittingly freed from his prison by the legions of Archaon, the King came into Odentia and rallied its people against the forces of Chaos. Gathering the remnants of the Order Of The Bended Knee and the rest of the kingdom’s refugees the King feed them his flesh and corrupting blood and the Kingdom of Odentia was reborn. The derangement of the King swept through the minds of the Odentia refugees and forever altered their reality. The refugees came to see the King as Saint Simeon reborn, come to them in their hour of need. They had sinned and brought down a great punishment upon themselves but through Saint Simeon and the path of penance they could be atoned. The Saint forgave them and through a holy communion with him gave them the spiritual strength to free their kingdom. With a renewed Order and the Saint at the lead the forces of Odentia fought back the wave of Chaos and began reestablishing their homeland. The Atonement War was long and bitter but with the power the Saint provided the forces of Chaos were expelled and Odentia was rechristened. In wake of the Atonement War Saint Simeon proclaimed that his work was done and that he was needed elsewhere. He anointed the Knights Of The Order Of The Bended Knee as his spiritual successors and they drank deeply from his cup and were filled with his holy power. He claimed that through them he would watch over Odentia and when they needed him most he would return and ensure the prosperity of the kingdom. Throughout the Age of Chaos the Order and their penitent knights keep the forces of Chaos at bay and carried on the legacy of the Saint. As the Age of Sigmar dawned Odentia was awash in optimism. As the forces of Chaos receded, for the first time Odentia was not besieged on all sides. The Order took it as a providential sign from Saint Simeon that a time of renewal was at hand. They were being rewarded for their devotion and were the chosen, destined to lead all into the new glorious dawn. Thus Lord Belisarius, Grand Master Of The Order Of The Bended Knee has called a Grand Penitent Crusade. All the forces of Odentia, the military orders, the penitent flagellants and the devoted monks rally ready to spill forth from the boarders of Odentia and bring the truth and prosperity of Saint Simeon’s path to all those in the Realm of Death. Welcome to my FEC work in progress. Since AOS 2 hit I have decided to finally finish my FEC army. Above is my fluff and here is what I have completely painted so far. Here is Lord Alexius the Steady, Field Commander of the Order Of The Bended Knee. He is one of my Varghulfs Courtiers that I converted from the GW giant kit.
  18. How impactful was using the Realm rules with spells? This seems to help FEC some and if more events go this way could be a little boost for us.
  19. Not a single FEC at Blackout, with almost a hundred players. Does not seem that our new summoning got people excited to bring the army. Guess we will see how it shakes out.
  20. Both lists look fun. I think I would lean toward the monster mash one. I always loved running the big monster centered lists and the new summoning leans in that direction (the more beasties we run the more free points we get). Good luck whichever you go with and let us know how it goes.
  21. This is one of the main reasons I have never loved the Deadwatch battalion, the 3 unit requirement almost forces you to just run units of 3 and they die soooo easily. The other thing I found while running it is that it happening in the hero phase makes its use limited. AOS is so killy that when you charge or get charged a unit tends to get deleted so units of 3 Horrors tend not to stick around until your next hero phase especially if you get double turned.
  22. Yea unfortunately that is the case, but the extra regrowth from the Royal Family still regrows a Horror unit super quick. I have been running them in a big blob of 6 but I kind of want to go up to 9 to max the regeneration potential. I know I will never get all 9 into combat with their base size but in theory it seems good.
  23. Yea the range can be a little limiting but its pretty easy to bring in the Vargulfs on the first turn wherever you have the Horrors and have them set up in regrow range.
  24. I was referring to the Lords of the Manor ability from the Royal Family. You summon in two Vargulfs with the AGKoZD (with Majestic Horror) then when you regrow Horrors you get how many +5s you roll plus an additional two free from the battalion (one for each Vargulf). Makes the Horror unit very hard to get rid of. The Lords of the Manor paragraph was not changed and it says "Each time a Courtier in your army uses an ability to call forth additional FEC models, add one ... The Lord of the Manor section has always applied to the Vargulf To The King Ability so I do not see why that has changed. So therefore the regrow buff seems fine. The potential cheese part seems to be if you can go above the starting size of Horrors with the Vargulf To The King Ability. I would say not (and I did not play it that way) because of the not going over starting size prescription. However, honestly even if it let us go over the starting size it would not suddenly make our army broken, it would throw us a bone in a field where we are still a little underpowered.
  25. Played my first real competitive game with FEC in AOS 2 last night verses a friend who is an experienced tournament regular. We were playing the new GH2018 scenario, The Better Part Of Valor. Here are the lists we used. Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts - Mortal Realm: Hysh - Delusion: Crusading Army Abhorrant Ghoul King on Zombie Dragon (440) - General - Command Trait : Magestic Horror - Artefact : Lens of Refraction Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400) - Artefact : Aetherquartz Brooch Abhorrant Ghoul King (140) Abhorrant Ghoul King (140) 6 x Crypt Horrors (320) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) 10 x Crypt Ghouls (100) Royal Family (150) Aethervoid Pendulum (40) Quicksilver Swords (20) 1 Command Point 50 TOTAL: 2000/2000 Allegiance: Grand Host of Nagash Nagash Supreme Lord Of The Undead (800) - General - Lores of the Dead Spell 1 : Overwhelming Dread (Deathmages) - Lores of the Dead Spell 2 : Fading Vigour (Deathmages) - Lores of the Dead Spell 3 : Amethystine Pinions (Vampires) Necromancer (110) - Artefact : Ossific Diadem - Lore of the Deathmages : Decrepify 2 x Morghast Harbingers (220) -Spirit Halberds 40 x Skeleton Warriors (280) 40 x Skeleton Warriors (280) 10 x Skeleton Warriors (80) The First Cohort (160) Umbral Spellportal (60) TOTAL: 1990/2000 I won a very close game almost exclusively on capturing objectives. Nagash completely shut down most of my magic, which stunk. I was able to use my summoning to steal one of his back objectives. The block of 6 Horrors backed by the 2 summoned Vargulfs and the extra refill from the battalion was able to grind through 2 blocks of 40 skeletons (of course he brought 1 of them back). Nagash Hand Of Dusted my AGKoTG through the Spell Portal and by the end of the game I only had my Horrors left camped on an objective to get the 8 VP. My take aways: I like the level of our ability army to grind with the Royal Family, at times it felt on par with the LoN regrow tricks. I like our mobility with the summoning and think that we can do some real damage in the scenarios based around spread out objectives. I liked the Aetherquartz Brooch for getting a few extra command points over the course of the game. I still feel our killing power is too limited. I had no real way to kill Nagash. I just had to try to avoid him and manage him as best I could. There are going to be some targets that we just can not kill reliably. I would have liked to see how Endless Spells would have helped us, in theory they could help some of our killing power issues and we are somewhat set up to effectively use them. However, Nagash would not have any of it! Overall I think AOS2 has helped us some but we still seem to have some of the same big issues we had before.
