  1. Those zoggin aelves are back again, Balogog noticed with fury. Right, time to send the boyz out to stomp some face, and this time, it's time to hit em with my boyz. Balogog assembled his Ironjawz shock troops, boyz, brutez and the gargant that seemed to like hiding in the caves and the grog that the grots ere made. As the army streamed from the caves, another enemy approached. Zog it, thought Balogog, flying stunties. Ah well, lets krump em as well, have a proper good fight... Another 1k battle, but this time a 3 way between Balogog's Ironjawz, Wanderers and Kharadron. We used the open war again and this time it was a kill match with whoever took the most wounds winning the match. The Wanderers and Ironjawz deployed in the top corners of the battlefield, with the Kharadron in the centre opposite. Balogogs horde for this battle: Ironjawz: Megaboss on foot: Metalrippaz, Brutal Cunning Shaman Warchanter 10 x Ard boyz 10 x Brutez 1 x Gargant ally (coz I felt like it) Wanderers was the same as the last list. Kharadron had two haulers, 5 thunderers, 1 lord, 9 endrinriggers, all flying and teleporting all over the place. Notable highlights: I won the roll off to go first every round. Didn't help much... Megaboss hacked the Treelord to kindling, then was killed outright by the poncy aelf prince... Gargant slaughtered the thunderers with his club and a headbutt, then cleaved through 9 rangers and 5 more fleeing to battleshock (he did well in this one) only to be mowed down by the rangers in turn. 3 ard boyz surviving to the end of the battle (no one else did) Brutes getting flung across the board to engage the Kharadron, making a 9in charge on an 11, only to be wiped out but the weight of fire and combat in the Kharadron turn. In the end, it was a close run thing, but having so many wounds and giving up a lot of them I ended up losing. The Kharadrons ability to basically just ****** off wherever they want is a pain...
  2. I just completed this model in multiple assemblies: He is a standard Hero sized model but to make life easier, I left the head off to get underneath the tiki mask, as well as do justice to the face. I would not have been able to blend those blue feathers with him fully assembled. I also did the base separate (his foot is pinned with a bit of brass rod to hold it together) and I could also get the cork dry brushed and the bell painted up. The squiggly beast was also done separately then attached. As stated above, doing cavalry with rider and mount is definitely the way to go, having just completed a bunch of boarboyz fully assembled, well, that wasn't fun...
  3. I have painted plenty of warriors over the years. If you want undivided, can't go to wrong with a spray of lead belcher or equivalent, heavy black wash, edge highlight in silver and you are there. Another trick is to do black, eshin grey, wash in black, edge highlight in silver, that looks pretty good too. Brown boots and all the other leather bits.
  4. So, a good start to the month: 1 Wurggog Prophet completed. I will get a better photo later...
  5. That looks like a Space Marine helmet on its side on the left of this image. Would agree Slaaneshi but possibly 40K or Heresy stuff.
  6. So, I also failed mine last month, so still on the table: 5 x Brutes 1 x Wurggog Prophet 1 x Megaboss. If I can knock this lot over my Warclans will be complete.
  7. Balogog watched as the mad prophet sauntered out the cave entrance, a number of his boyz in tow, slavering and shouting incoherently, their warpaint glowing and squirming very uncomfortably. The prophet had a vision of some tree monster and their loathsome pointy ears in tow. Apparently, the sap of this monster would power up their weapons for months. Well, best go have a look, Balogog thought. Should be a good krumpin, one way or another. I had a quick 1000 point match against a friends Wanderers army with straight Bonesplitterz. I took this list: Wurggog Prophet (man of the match, Fist of Gork on double 6's, must have killed a dozen or more dudes over the course of the game...) Savage Big Boss 20 Savage Boyz 20 Arrow Boyz 2 x 5 Savage Boar Boyz His list was: Treelord High Prince Wood Elf dude with bird (name escapes me...) 20 Rangers (these are nasty) 20 Eternal Guard 10 Sisters of something archers We played using the Open War cards (why more people don't use these is beyond me, so good...). The battlefield was split straight down the centre lengthwise, with no X inches from the centre line. The objective was Treasure Hunter (6 objectives, if you control it at the start of the hero phase, on a 6 its yours) and the twist was all melee weapons add 1 to attack, and a second one forced the winner of the roll off to deploy their entire army in one go, then the second player deploys theirs. On a roll of 1 after deployment, the second player steals the initiative as well... I won't go blow by blow, but some highlights: The Wurggog dominated, dropping mortal wounds everywhere and really keeping the army together 5 pigs slammed into the Treeman turn 1, took 11 wounds off before the Wurggog finished him off next turn with a well aimed arcane bolt The rangers battering my archers for a massive 26 wounds in one round of combat (with that extra attack, they were devastating) 1 pig surviving on 2W for about a turn and a half as the sisters archers just couldn't quite finish him off... It was a 2-1 win to the Bonesplitterz on objectives. I was very fortunate to get the first turn every time the whole way through the game. If I had been hit with a double turn on either turn 2 or 3, I think it would have been a lot closer and I would have had to have changed tactics completely. Still, it was good to get a win with the boyz. On another note, the army is almost complete. One more month and I think the warhost will be done. It will come in at about 3k all up, which is more than I expected but here we are. On the list to finish: 5.2 x Brutes 1 x Megaboss on Foot 1 x Wurggog Prophet. Really hoping to get this done in March so I can move onto my next project. The Warclans will be my gaming army, this new one is a painting and modelling one to try to push my skills and do something totally different. I will probably still add units to this as I am missing a few of the Bonesplitterz and would like to be able to run each of the battalions if I feel like it, so a bit of a ways to go yet but it will be in slow time now. I will post individual unit photos and then the whole thing when it is finished. This is also novel as it is the first army I will have painted to completion. Well, within reason right... there are a few things I want to do like get some checks done, some more warpaint, that sort of thing. But done, enough.
  8. So I failed miserably this month, figured I would be ambitious but some procrastination and hobby butterflying dented my plans somewhat. No photos yet but I completed 4 brutes and am most of the way through a 5th. I also built the Triumvirate of Ynnead and 5 Scourges for my Drukhari, a foot Megaboss and a Wurggog prophet assembled and undercoated. So still a pretty good month but will have to try harder for March... I may have also decided to start up a new army which I wasn't going to do but here we are...
  9. So, I should have a bit of time this month. As such, I will aim for: 5 x Ard Boyz (converted Nobz from 40K) 5 x Brutes 1 x Wurggog prophet. That will finish my Warclans army... well, so far. Need to warpaint some savage boyz and do some checks on the Ironjawz to tie it all together. Then onto the next project...
  10. Awesome as always. Look forward to the finish product.
  11. Very cool thread and great commitment. Looks awesome
  12. So, amazingly I managed to meet my pledge and finish my last Ard Boy for a squad of 15 (appears to be the magic number for these in the new book). I am going to add some orange checks or markings to the black shoulder to tie them more together with the Bonesplitterz and their orange tattoos. Photos when I can but yay, first pledge met. If time permits, I have about 7 boyz left to finish, so I will add these to the month (doubt it will happen but one must have goals...). That leaves 10 Brutes (5 brutez and 5 nobz from 40K I converted to finish this army. Comes in at about 3k... whoopsie
  13. @ThalmorRepresentative the eels look great. Like the way the skin looks.
  14. I went for no new, just update and expand, and Seraphon (although they have plenty of decent kits the cold ones look odd...). There are many factions with just too few kits/options to keep you going back to expand. As a Warclans guy, one of every option isn't hard but if you are really over on it I could do enough for every battalion or something, but that would get tiresome. Not sure what more I want, but some variety is always good. Still, GW will do as it wants.
  15. @flemingmma sometimes you have to know when to join the winning side, and when the zombie apocalypse comes, well... @ThalmorRepresentative same way I do my orruks green skin is what I see. The skin is sprayed mechanicus grey and then washed twice in either seraphim sepia (the yellow and blue in the grey react well to make a washed out green, two thin coats makes it more vibrant) or a green wash. I then highlight with loren forest and a lighter green. So with the crimson, I would probably go one more thin coat, then judiciously highlight with some pinky reds and pinks rather than bold reds or oranges, with a light grey at the very edge. I think it would look sweet.
  16. @ThalmorRepresentative i quite like that washed out look for the crimson. With some subtle highlights it would make that a very interesting look.
  17. @TheOtherJosh indeed it does. Or in this case an army of 1000 models ends (does it ever really end...) with about 17 more...
  18. So, January is a tough one. I am moving interstate and won't have my stuff, then starting a new job to add to the fun. So, I will set a very modest ambition and copy @flemingmma and aim for one model painted...
  19. Well as the year wraps up, I have failed another challenge after starting the year quite strongly. I completed my 3 gore gruntaz and got 4 of 5 ard boyz done so not too disappointed. The unpainted model count for my Warclans is getting smaller so (insert best Cornish farmer accent here) I mustn't grumble. 2019 was a pretty poor hobby year. Here's to 2020, and may hobby greatness fill our lives with painted models and a decrease of grey plasticrack!!!
  20. @Skumbaagh I would go for the Jagged Gore Hackas over the Choppas. The +1 to hit and wound on the charge is pretty handy if you don't have the Waaagh points buff at that point. Personal preference but if you call a Big Waaagh and lose all your points, could come in handy in a contingency. Outside that, looks pretty strong and I also look forward to hearing about the carnage these boyz wreak on the realms
  21. @Zetsu20 that tyrant is ace. Congratulations on a fine job.
  22. Well, its been a very long time but I have finally re-embraced the Waaagh after life got in the way. This is a pick of the first pig I finished. There is a unit of these done that I will put up soon. On a different note, Balogog finally got to go to Waaagh!!! Despite a close loss, it was a lot of fun and the Big Waaagh stomps face if you use it properly (which I didn't but that's ok). I am also working on some more Ard Boyz (should bring me up to 20, although 15 seems to be to magic number) and then just 10 Brutes, 7 Greenskinz and a Wurrgog prophet to accompany Balogog to war. Its a lot of fun running the mixed list and I rate it. Next part of this is to set it up to run as all cavalry, gruntaz and boarboyz with a MK and Maniak Weirdnob. Should be fun.
  23. @TheadTheOgorSlayer yeah fair enough. I haven't used Chaos for a long while so not sure how they all work. If I hadn't failed a handful of saves, I think he could have rallied and stomped some more face. The fights last ability that the treelord can generate (and my opponent was on point on that roll all night...) made a big difference too. If I had been able to fight in sequence rather than have to cop it all until last, I think there would have been more kindling for the war fires so to speak. Still, biggest issue was just sending bits and pieces at the opposition and poor deployment (something I am notoriously bad at...)
