  1. I really like it as an idea running it either way starting with a meeting engagement, then a 1500 finish with a 2000 showing the general building his followers or your way showing the forces diminishing. Scenery is cool idea to.
  2. I like that as a idea for a narrative event, or smaller 18 player but in a larger event checking 3 army lists maybe to much though. I will definitely consider it and I now have an idea of how it may work.

  4. I am creating this topic just to get some feedback on what the community prefers to play in their tournaments. Primarily a bit selfish for me to gather information to put on better events for people. All opinions are welcome don't bicker that is that individuals preference of play At the moment this is how we run and why. Full realm Rules, artefacts and spells all announced before the day. Realm spells I feel is important as it gives armies without a spell lore and armies of legend access to more spells instead of wasting points on 1 spell 1 unbind Realms and Realm Rules For our next 3 events I have pre announced which realms are in use and which Realmscape feature. This gives players a chance to play in those realms and with that rule prior to the event, and saves rolling something really bad on the day and also means I can pre prep Realm cards for the tables though I could keep the realm and feature a secret I find it more balanced to announce before hand. Scenery Rules - Pre rolled for, I have moved on from printing the war scrolls for each piece (I did this and it took forever but if you haven't played with a chapel on the board its quite a cool feature) Each table gets setup and pre rolled the scenery tokens marked up before the event, in respect of objectives sometimes landing on a scenery piece I think its quite cool to fight over some damned steps or inspiring woods adds a bit of flavour to the objectives and some actually point to it. 2 Armies fighting for the high ground or some mystical terrain to further their position in a war. This leaves more time for gaming, and brews. Fully Painted Armies I'm a stickler for this, yes i play with unpainted models while choosing my army selection, but when I started out in the hobby we had to show decent progress every week to be allowed to play a good 17 years ago. Its a good habit. For tournaments I think every army should be fully painted and based it doesn't have to be amazing or even good I'm a terrible painter but it shows investment into the hobby, it looks better and helps with immersion into the game, if someone paid to be at that tournament and has taken the time to paint and base their army shouldn't you show the same respect. If someone has taken the time to build paint base their army theres a better chance that they know their rules as they are invested in it with time and effort resulting in a better caliber of player. It Stops Glory Hunting, it stops people just buying the best net list they can find playing it a week later. Scoring All scores swiss chess, all results submitted bad dice and ITC (though I Still have to send the last ones off) All opinions are welcome and there are no wrong answers these are my thoughts and I want to create the best possible tourneys for the players that come though the next 3 rules are set I will take your thoughts into consideration when writing the next lot. Opinions are like Arseholes everyone has one so get commenting.

  10. This causes brain hurt, For a true analysis you would have to take out the scores of the top 10-15percent as they are better players and you will see people basically copying their lists and finish mid table you would also have to remove their wins from the opponents that they have beat records, also you would need to balance the the games and the factions, for example KO aren't that popular at the moment but you their was a sudden influx of KO players and they mostly matched up against khorne or slaanesh suddenly everyone would think them a higher tier than if they met constant match ups against SC anvils, Skaven, IDK. So you would need that an equal amount of factions playing against an equal amount of opposing factions with every faction represented with each allegiance type playing an equal amount of games. My opinion on the ghb it's pretty good, being a primary khorne daemon player happy with the points drop still unhappy with the new khorne book, as my whole army got nerfed and mortals got made better bloodletters and blood crushers mostly aren't worth the points but they're painted so they see the tabletop.
  11. A well written bit, but i do not see it being unbeatable, though I have have played a lot of games (mostly 2000pts) at 1000pts I found the eels to be the weakest I managed a win with a fluffy khorne list no bts, no Bws, only 1 slaughter priest though I bubble wrapped well and see the point of advantage but have you come up against a khadron overlords or a shooting skaven list the still have the numbers to bubble wrap and lay down heavy fire,, I haven't faced them in meeting engagements yet (only at tourneys) is it more your local meta that have difficulty with it? or have have you played a lot of meeting engagements outside of that group? Unfortunately our local gaming group much prefer the classical fantasy themed armies chaos, witchaelves, FEC, Skaven, dwarves flying and non posties and orks, in our local meta skaven are the strongest atm in all formats sheer numbers heavy shooting high bravery with lots of options for battle shock immunity and fast. we don't see much of the stormiest or idoneth but hopefully the will pick up aswell. interested how your local meta army choices are, as some can be just bad match ups for example i know if I rock up with my khorne against Khadron I will mostly get shot off the table in all formats regardless if i go horde or elite, slaanesh seems quite a good match up for my khorne but other khorne players say its a difficult match up.
  12. I have to agree and disagree with this. 2000pts will always be the the dominant format it gives you enough points to play and also for most of us whfb players it was the format for the last 20years GW tried to make its more skirmish but we all ended playing 2000pts and making our own movement trays anyway. How is meeting engagements not competitive? how is it more unbalanced? if anything it is now more balanced than traditional match play as cheap horde chaff may out number you on objectives but you can score enough kills to boost your vps. List building becomes more challenging as you may end up starting with your rear party on the board against their spearhead. also limiting behemoths to 2 and limiting unit sizes stops you coming up against 80 plague monks and a furnace that are immune to battle shock sitting on the objectives. Also the variation of the battle plans means that you have to be more tactfully aware and make better decisions than just making an unbeatable list you actually have to be a better player.
  13. Rampaging Beasts- it's a cool rule but not practical in a tournament scenario because you you would need x amount of monsters all at the same points cost, For tournaments full realm rules should be used it balances games for weaker armies and armies without a spell lore yes limited shooting for one game for a skaven shoot list may be a disadvantage but a good player can overcome this whereas every armies that doesn't have a spell lore is at a permanent disadvantage my main army is Khorne and still make sure we play it all, rolling randomly or preselecting before the day keeps the game fair and its all about immersing yourself in the game, if your playing in a tournament you should be committed to learning the rules and embracing all formats. Scenery rules- I think they're great but after running some tournaments and with some larger ones coming up I will definitely be pre rolling and pre setting the terrain all with appropriate tags with a brief rules as a reminder (in our last one i provided scenery tags and also war scroll cards for the pieces of terrain , it allows players more time to go over each others armies and less and more time to play- rushing because your under time pressure because you've spent 15mins going over terrain with a newer tournament player is no fun, you want everyone to get the most from their game and a good experience. That said I did recently play in a tournament with experienced players and we all managed to fit it in in about 3-5mins. But if you had a newer player it may take to much time.

  16. I totally agree on the battle shock skaven should not have such immuntiy from battle shock and same for gobbos, I think battle shock is broken atm a unit of liberators or blood warriors have a 50 50 chance of stuff running away after a couple of losses but a good skaven army is batleshock immune plague wagon and 80 monks 40 per side it just doesn't fit, lose one troll 50 50 another runs away but gobs in the right place lose 20 and are fine
  17. Add in the warriors of chaos units as well the monsters of chaos, chaos dragon rules are pretty cool and treasonous use is awesome
  18. Hi guys every time I click on a club directory anyone of them it comes uo as oops something is wrong error EX0
  19. Thank you I am just deciding how to rule this as I know there will be a couple of skin at my tournament, I didn't know if there was something similar ruled on for another used as a generic for example extra hits generated by retributors with the pray adding a hit on a 6 causes 2 mortal wounds and a hit that needs a wound and save roll and thought possibly there was something related to abilities needing to active to cause re rolls or added damage.
  20. Skaven Warpstone Rules Is there any official ruling on when Skaven can use their warp stone, As the rule reads during the phase, now I can understand taking a warp stone after failing a cast roll but taking one after rolling to hit and rolling to wound to increase damage just seems plain wrong and makes no viable sense even in a fantasy land, for example a bullet has fired its wounded now i'm gonna munch this stone to make it stronger. any official ruling or any T/Os that have ruled on this would be a fantastic help
  21. Escalation It forces balance splitting you up and forcing you to be more tactful in choices
