  1. Best bet is to watch some batreps. You can see two different armies play and if either catches your interest then you have a launching off point, otherwise you know more about them if you have to play against them.
  2. Dark Walkers definitely has some legs on iy, but you have to build towards it's strengths more. Allherd is the one I want to like because I like that they're basically old school Beastmen but I just can't make anything on it work effectively to my favor in my head. It's just so "meh".
  3. I had a feeling that was the case. Well, at least the it's basically our only real auto include (as far as I can tell) at least).
  4. Gavespawn does look pretty amazing. I keep wanting to look into the non 'fray options but keep getting side tracked by how generally good that one is. At least I have plenty of time to work that out. I mean I'm still painting my Herdstone. EDIT: so after looking at the Greatfrays, is there really any reason to not take them?
  5. I've sacrificed myself to the Herdstone and picked up the Battletome, a box of Endless Spells and Start Collecting box to give me a start on the army (I'm not going to list everything I need to still buy for the army because I don't need to start crying blood today), so instead I've got a question: outside of running a Summoning heavy list, is there a reason to use the Allherd? The buff to our Battleshock tests seems helpful, but I know next to nothing about the army in its current form other than a need to own like three of everything for the sake of summoning as well as running large games.
  6. Well I guess I need to add Beasts of Chaos to my previous vote. I'd been looking at something a bit more Fyreslayerish, but with two players just starting the army this week and no one running the angry goat men my choice was clear. At least with a bajillion models to paint I'll get a lot of practice with things like freehand tattoos, NMM (because I'm an idiot and want to learn that, so black iron NMM all the way) and about a dozen other little things. Yay?
  7. I'm guessing based on the pictures, but Nagash's mug looks like he's on a 65mm, the bridge looks like the same size as the ovals used for the new GSC and Ork vehicles, and the rest look like they're on the smaller ovals (the ones that are a step up from the cav ovals).
  8. My only hope is that it's an update, not a whole new app. I just don't want to have to entirely reload my paint inventory again (I ended up using that inventory originally as I've found it helps me keep from re-buying paints I already have but forgot I had when I'm starting new projects).
  9. I feel like DoK have a low pick up rate because they are a horde focised army with expensive kits. That and their elite build of monstergirls aren't that great to build a more elite army with them. Well that and Morathi is a massive model that can intimidate new players. I'm hoping we see some nerf hammers hitting the game because DoK have some stuff that needs to be brought down, as do FEC and LoN. All three armies have a large win rate lead on the game that tips the game in too heavily in favor of those three armies.
  10. I wasn't really planning on adding Aelves to the army, but I could see Dispossessed getting mixed in due to the way Ironweld works as well as how they're closer to humans then the Old World Dwarves were. That said, for now I'm planning on sticking to just humans, but the Hysh should give me some ideas for basing (assuming I don't just buy Shattered Realms bases and roll with those). EDIT: One mark against Hysh I just noticed (while doing some reading to get some ideas) is that the realm has a "love of symettry" as a thing. That makes the asymmetrical scheme make a bit less sense.
  11. I'm working on Hedonites, though that's mainly a 40k project. I'm also starting a Free People's army to paint up in the old Nordland colors as a break from all that purple and pink I'm doing, but I'm still mulling over some things (like which realm they should be from for doing my basing and considering if I want to commit to something crazy like using them to practice NMM on).
  12. I feel like admitting that you -can- lose the game if it keeps going in the current direction its in is important since it lets you address the problem and start counterplaying to solve it. You may still lose that game, but knowing when a game is starting to go badly for you is still a valuable skill that every player should develop.
  13. I'm looking for some advice for Realm choice. I'm looking at starting a Free Guild army as a side project from the Hedonites army I'm working on (to eventually become a main project once I finish the Hedonites), and I want to base them on the old Nordland color scheme and lore, but I'm stuck trying to think which realm might fit them the best. The old Nordland was stuck between two forests and jutting up against the sea, so I was thinking Ghur (especially since they're woodsman) but I'm looking for second opinions because I'm not sure if that really is the best fit.
  14. I almost fell out of my seat laughing when I got to "something about Thunderers".
  15. I feel like I'm being set up to argue for something that they could do as instead being something I think they will do. I don't see something resembling Brets coming out unless they carry some of the old models into the new line. If they don't then the army won't "feel" like Brets no matter how you slice it. So either we get something using the old Brets mixed with something new, or they're not coming back at all.
  16. I never said they'd bring back metal and finecast (I said the exact opposite actually), but the Brets had plastic models that could come back.
  17. I think you're forgetting we're talking about if GW was going to bring Brets back in some form or another. Starting with the existing line would bring a lot of Bret armies back into the game. The loud vocal minority who is always salty will always be salty. Nothing can make them happy.
  18. Just because GW -can- doesn't mean GW -will-. They work years in advance on their projects. They can cut the lead time on a Bret like army in less than half if they use the old models and then add to the line later.
  19. Congrats on finishing an army! I've recently discovered that I've failed to finish painting a single army since 2009 (Tyranids for 40k) and have been kicking myself for the last few days, so it's nice to see other people finish their projects.
  20. Anything in plastic still has a chance of making a return since the models are steel, but any metal/finecast models are likely gone forever.
  21. Yup. It'd just be something new using Bret models. At least Tomb Kings being brought back could be chalked up to Nagash doing it, but Brets have no feasible way of being added into the game like that.
  22. True, true, I just don't think it's enough for most people for GW to go "we gave you diet Brets so go have fun". Then again, I've mainly only been exposed to the saltiest of Bret players so that might be a bias on my part.
  23. That could end up leading interesting places, but I feel like the old Brets are never coming back. We'll likely get a spin off of the Free People that plays similarly, but that lore flavor isn't coming back and it's really the flavor people bought into so I don't know if just bringing back the models would be enough to bring those old players back.
