  1. I think you can strip the oracular visions out for the purposes of napkinhammer, the warriors innately have a save re roll at this unit size. Warriors with shields also shrug a third of the poleaxe MWs. That said I think your maths is out unless I am looking at the wrong warscroll, Hearthguard hit on 3s.
  2. Isn't that graph actually comparing 540 points of hex-wraiths though? I get that the battalion comes with its own benefits but it has a minimal drop reduction and Nh have limited decent artifact carriers.
  3. The armour is heavily thinned down black templar over a rough zenithal base. Keeping the undercoar a bit spattery gives it some texture. I think the shadows are then traced with Vallejo night blue and the deepest shadows are Vallejo hull red. Final step was a slight edge highlight of an off white. Hope that is of use.
  4. Totally forgot I used contrast as a base for my scheme too then went back in with washes.
  5. I'm fairly certain one of the Faqs states that if you have one ability that a 6 generates extra hits, and another ability that applies an effect on a 6, both effects apply but the extra hits generated do not also apply the second effect.
  6. Looking at the fight again abilities on the lord and varanguard it seems that to use them the unit must be withing 3' of an enemy before they pile in a second time, is this also true for other factions double fight mechanics?
  7. If you have twitter Les Martin got his hands on the models early and did a decent job with black contrast paints, i think his handle is something like @_wintersoldier
  8. Personally I have hit peak ghosts, I really don't want to push more infantry around the board. I'd like to see significant points drops to the heroes and spells so that I feel less like i'm gimping myself by not putting a bazillion chainrasps on the board.
  9. I've only ever seen it played that you have to have one on the board before you are able to set one in reserve, same for Stormcast. Allies count as a unit setup on the battlefield as far as I am aware though.
  10. If running host of the everchosen I think either Slaanesh or Nurgle are possibly better than Khorne, Archaon can point at a unit to give out reroll hits and wounds of 1s, less useful for multiple combats but just as good when fighting one giant blob of hearthguard or mortek etc. At which point the exploding 6s of Slaanesh is a big deal given the quality of attacks in the army (does this also effect mount attacks?), rerolling charges is also nice. I'm not sure the extra damage of Nurgle is quite as good but the -1 to be shot is very strong if shooting is popular. If you are feeling brave you could try teleporting them out of combat.
  11. The Whispers of chaos spell prevents moves not just normal moves, so does this prevent piling in etc?
  12. Not great, not terrible either. Bit too spendy to make the cut imo.
  13. As someone without much knowledge of the other chaos books are there any standout buff models that might see a home in Std forces? Do most of slaanesh work of hedonites rather than slaanesh?
  14. Looks like if you are taking Sixth circle Varanguard the ensorcelled weapon is the way to go, even on the charge they do 18 damage 2 rend 1 attacks whilst the spears manage 9 damage 3 rend 2 attacks.
  15. Any word on if the Olynder batallions are Nighthaunt or Legions of grief?
  16. I had thought of the same thing, selling your opponent on a coin flip rather than a dice might be a bit of a pain. I know it shouldn't be a problem.
  17. I have a feeling this is going to cause more issues for Archaon players who find the dice has been knocked between their initial roll and revealing it to their opponent.
  18. As there is a beastman in the spire tyrants it seems that they will at minimum be allies. With all the options inherently available already I don't see much reason for them to be more integrated than that, although they might need to be for auras etc to effect them.
  19. Purely on theme rather than rules are people envisaging using one type of warcry warband in their armies or embracing the undivided aspect and fielding a mash up of several.
  20. If you check the previous page there is a fair bit of chat with differing opinions on this.
  21. With the current rules I could see an argument for the Unmade and Splintered fang in addition to the Golems. Unmade do a decent job of retaining their damage to the last few wounds whilst having a bonkers special rule, not being able to retreat can absolutely win games. The splintered fang are pretty awesome recipients of any +1 attack buffs whilst having some innate healing. Even the untamed beasts have some utility in their pre game move whilst the Cypher lords bring a pretty sweet -1 to hit, shame it isn't on a ranged attack though. Corvus cabal are definitely at the bottom of the pack for me though, their wet noodle ranged attack doesn't make up for their not quite fly ability.
  22. The warbands are monopose but they do have some variation within them. For example the crouching model in the Corvus Cabal can be built with a crow or a spear.
  23. 70 points for 10 wounds with a 4 up potentially rerollable save and a shooting attack doesnt seem awful to me. Not exactly exciting but the last two books have had a lot of power baked into the allegiance abilites and subfactions so its a bit early to asses the warcry warscrolls.
  24. Maybe giving them a retreat in the combat phase ability like skinks might give them a reason to exist. Currently I cant see them being useful without being so cheap they become obnoxious.
  25. Having only played Nh and not LoG there is definitely room for any of the three 32mm units. Harridans with two command points popped on them pretty much the same as Bladegheists stood near a spirit torment. In an army that wants command points for summoning spending two on hit bonuses is a reasonable investment. Trying to get those bases into combat when at 20 models is a bit of an ask though, and with those damn crawlers knocking about you need to be conscious of standing in two rows. Which is where Grimghasts step in, that reach is a big deal. Ultimately take whichever one you like the look of imo.
