  1. There should be 2 more luminark lowdowns before the studio preview. I would hope some models get revealed in those, but I suspect maybe Tyrion gets revealed at Adepticon, but I do not think that will be the "big" AoS reveal, I think probably SoB will be revealed and/or the next stage in the story line (which likely involves some campaign book, box set, a new edition, or whatever)
  2. We have moonclan grots in Gloomspite Gitz. We have spiderfang grots in Gloomspite Gitz. We have gnoblar grots in Ogre Mawtribes. We expect to have more grots in Grotbag Skuttlers (GW would be crazy to not eventually release this army they've mentioned several times now) Please, we do not need grots in SoB. That would be grots in 4 out of 5 destruction factions (the 5th one containing the OTHER greenskins). Destruction does not have to be only green guys. And we don't need horde chaff in every army, that is boring. What we need is for the rules to not favor horde chaff so much instead. For the record I am not hopeful for many or any new models but I don't think this is definitive at all. So what if they wanted to show off the new terrain before a new Slann? A picture on their website does not bind them to anything. Same with the warcry cards. I have a feeling that despite their best efforts that's gonna be a pretty low volume product, and one at which they can simply update the artwork on later if they ever actually do a second run on it. They aren't going to drop any of the units, just potentially update the sculpts. And if they do update Saurus Warrior and Knight sculpts, I imagine it will get the Slaves to Darkness SC treatment and not replace the old kits.
  3. Shadowspear was 2 existing armies, You're suggesting a box with 2 brand new armies. I don't think GW would be that generous. I was very suprised Ossiarch Bonereapers was in a box for their release, but then again, only half of the plastic for them (3 half sprues + 1 hero) was new models, the other 3 half sprues were old (morghasts) I'm afraid if we do see some "value" box for these new armies it will follow the Sisters of Battle level of value. where a $210 USD box has 2 frames of plastic + a hero (1 of those frames being 2 duplicate half frames...not my fave). Yes it had book and dice, and yes the models are fantastic and the sprues are crammed, but I still have a hard time calling it a "value" box at that price point.
  4. It's quite possible they know they have to squat this model soon (it's the oldest AoS model...), and they know what they want the plastic Skyre acolytes to look like (or already designed them) and they are not all throwing globes! Or they just want that freedom. It is very smart to not limit your design space by giving the model a restrictive name, especially when that name comes from an ancient 30 year old model that you're really trying to get rid of. The other option would be to kill the Globadier warscroll and introduce a new warscroll, which would have been quite unpopular, especially to those few people who actually spent hundreds of dollars on globadier models, or tons of time converting them.
  5. Did you listen to the new Gotrek audio dramas? The second main character (his traveling "companion" is a DoK witch aelf. I think the underworlds models are pretty nice quality. I just built and zenithaled my wurmspat minis and i thought they were incredible (having 25 blight kings, GUO, Glottkin, I think the wurmspat is actually better sculpts.) I also recently finished painting thorns of the briar queen and thought the sculpts were great and fun to paint.
  6. I agree. I think things like Skaven (just a really interesting faction already very heavy in the lore / fiction, very popular), and Free cities (gotta have a faction of just regular ol' humans) will likely get updates in the future... I can see your perspective on Beast of Chaos, although other than LoN that I can't really think of any others I would put in this group.. would be strange if they just picked 1 to keep on life support status I also think Legion of Nagash is very temporary. They already pulled Nighthaunt and Ossiarch Bonereapers out of it. Seems like they were trying to pull out any worthwhile plastic kits they could with those 2 releases. There are very few modern, great plastic kits that do not already fit into one of the non-LoN death factions. Seems like Skeletons / Grave guard can get scrapped in favor of Bonereapers. Coven Throne / Mortis Engine really needs a home. I suspect some Vampire/Mortals faction will come eventually, and then there is no LoN, but Nagash can be played in multiple armies. This makes things much easier to balance.
  7. This has been the model until now, but with the release of Seraphon tome soon, I think we have to transition to something else. Otherwise what, they only ever release new armies? Not likely. GW will now have to revisit existing armies and ask these questions What factions need more models What factions need models replaced due to Finecast / Resin Ancient plastic that is not as crisp on detail / inefficient sprue layout that sucks up production capacity Doesn't match faction aesthetic or game design (model count etc) How bad will #2 affect players who own the existing models? You have to trade modernization for isolating players who may regret purchasing / painting old models. Not sure if they will prioritize #1 (Fyreslayers, DoK, FEC) or #2 (Skaven, Seraphon). But pretty sure armies that do not apply to either (Stormcast, Khorne, Nighthaunt, etc) Will not see any updates for a long time.
  8. What STD got is more than skaven, ogors, BoC, Sylvaneth, Cities of Sigmar, etc got... And with the new sculpts it's not an either or thing, the new STD SC minis were designed to fit right into large ranks with existing chaos warriors. I really think it's a nice compromise. The main complaint with the current chaos warrior is the static pose. Mixing in new some guys with a dynamic pose can breath life into the army a bit, without invalidating the existing plastic minis that they've been selling for AoS (in SC and battleforce boxes) for years. It is doubly smart because they really do not have the production capacity to add more kits right now, but actually what they've done is reduce the number of sprues needed for an SC box (SC boxes are very high volume), because modern push fit minis are so sprue-efficient. I would love to see something similar done with Seraphon, whose SC box has TONS of sprues, is very inefficient to produce for a company whose completely production bottlenecked.
  9. in a vacuum perhaps the rumor could be lots of things, but we know Sons of Behemat is a thing that we can probably expect more teasers for, and we do not know of any Chaos on the way (not to say there isn't any). We expect probably some other Destruction at some point (Grotbag Skuttlers). People think Gitmob is coming back just because they got a shadespire warband (Personally don't think shadespire warbands necessarily mean anything). So... i think the logical question is "Does it look like Sons of Behemat? Because if so it probably is" RE: the seraphon poster. Don't see any reason to hope for new models just because they made this. Other recently battletomed factions without models have gotten similar posters (namely KO, Free Cities).
  10. Crazy to think she's a graphic designer there and painting minis is just what she does for fun. I am glad they let her paint the "official" colossal squig and definitely think she should let her paint more official stuff. Following her instagram has definitely pushed me to make my miniatures more vibrant and colorful. all of my early stuff is super washed out.

there are some on ebay. expensive. You can also find recasts on aliexpress for ~20usd (only suggesting this because they are no longer sold by GW)
  12. in addition to what has been mentioned: Hellpit Abominations surrounded by giant rats Nagash surrounded by underlings (either ossiarch or nighthaunt) Colossal squig surrounded by squig herds (colossal squigs even explode into more cave squigs!) Arachnarok spiders surrounded by spider riders and moonclan grots (Arachnaroks are the only model besides Archaon on a 160mm base...) Idoneth has a couple of pretty large models. Honestly, MOST armies have big models and little models, just pick what flavor you like the best...
  13. I'm going to be painting up the Nighthaunt underworlds warband this week. Going to utilize contrast paints, and i have primed the models with greyseer rattle can. I will be doing layer highlighting after contrast, but I had the idea of doing a heavy drybrush of white (vallejo white) beforehand. The idea is to add some highlight before contrast, so that i need less highlighting after, and I can preserve more color (as opposed to more highlighting with grey/white after which would mute the color some) My concern is ... will this mess up the flow of the contrast paints? I would think the drybrushing would leave a super thin coat of paint that would not mess it up, but just wondering if anyone uses this method and how it works
  14. Well depending on your definitely of glacially slow, a few years ago you had both deathwatch overkill and GSC battleforce(which had the Goliath). That was the time to be collecting GSC. My LGS still, 4 years later, has a Deathwatch Overkill box on the shelf, and I found several (and saw many more) on eBay the last year or two for cheaper than retail. If you want to hobby cheap you need to be very patient and very diligent on eBay. It helps to be collecting many things at once also!
  15. check again. Skal, and all Mawtribe batallions, require the exact warscrolls the specify. none of it is in bold, which is the indication that it is a keyword. For an example of a batallion that uses keyword instead of a specific warscroll, Thricefold Befowlement in Nurgle requires 3 GREAT UNCLEAN ONE meaning you can use rotigus, and also the exalted greater daemon of nurgle (the forgeworld one).
  16. cant wait to replace my metal Sorcerer with Fecula to play as "Sorcerer" though. I don't think i will ever play these warscrolls.
  17. No. in AoS rules, if a name (e.g. Sorcerer) is not bold, it is referring to the unit of that name, not any unit with that keyword. Tallyband of Nurgle calls for GREAT UNCLEAN ONE (keyword), so you can take Rotigus for that slot. But Plague Cyst, Blight Cyst, and Blessed Sons batallions all require the exact warcroll units specified, because the names are not bold (are not keywords).
  18. pitched battle = matched play. It would help if you clarify what you heard.
  19. I think going forward we'll probably get a new Monsterous Arcanum once a version, like the AoS battletomes. The current book came out with 2.0, so it is relatively "inline with the current state of the game". I don't think you'll see another til 3.0 That said, they do update individual warscrolls and points as needed. For example, when Gloomspite Gitz came out 6 months after Monsterous Arcanum, they updated all the warscrolls they cared to, as well as points. Likewise, the Skaven units were updated to reflect "Skaventide" keyword. You can see on the pitched battle profiles, the date is "Updated January 2020" If a forgeworld model does not have a keyword, it's because GW does not want it to have that keyword, not because you are waiting on them to update it.
  20. It would make sense. I really think GW is serious about pushing resin out of their product line, and I think they are using shadespire as a way to do it. Take a look at the latest 2. We got a new Rotbringer Sorcerer, Icebrow Hunter, and Frost Saber (not much you can do with a single Saber tho) If we assume that "Orruk Warclans" is not just a temporary soup book, and that they don't plan to give bonesplitters their own stuff again, I can see them trying to tie the two factions together a little.
  21. Hey guys... I gotta trim up my collection some... I have too many armies. I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out what to get rid of. I don't play a lot (and split my games between several armies, so its hard for me to personally get a feel for the new book).. Currently have: 12 gluttons 8 ironguts 8 leadbelchers 1 ironblaster 1 scraplauncher 2 unbuilt ironblaster/scraplauncher 2 tyrants 2 slaughtermaster 1 butcher 4 Stonehorn/Thundertusk, enough magnetized to have lots of options. 4 Mournfang 60 gnoblars The only list I've tried so far is Bloodgullet and I liked it. Besides butchers and gluttons I can basically play whatever I want with that list. I have already trimmed my gluttons down to 12. I figure all my lists will be 12 gluttons + 2 other smaller battlelines On the chopping block gnoblar - I like the scraplauncher but do not like the gnoblars (i don't enjoy moving hordes around, and the models are meh. Plus i have a moonclan army). Are gnoblars super great or is it ok to get rid of? Is scraplauncher playable without (or even with) junkmob? seems weak to me. maybe I will keep 1 just because i like the model. Ironblaster - what is the most you'd play in an underguts list? Is this list good? Mournfang - I don't want to get more than the 4 I have. I don't want to play thunderbellies, but it does allow me to try some BCR batallions... The movement isn't that special I guess due to the hungry allegiance ability (3" more isn't that much extra utility). I guess i can keep if this is just a really good warscroll but doesn't seem that special.
  22. Ironjawz already has a warband. I don't think their range is really deep enough to justify another.
  23. A release of new stormcast models would possibly bring about a new book, but otherwise you will 95% not get a new book until AoS 3.0, which is probably at least 16 months away at this point. With seraphon we are just finishing a battletome cycle. The only books you will see now are for new armies and campaign books.
  24. This ability reads: "...before removing this model from play, roll a dice for each enemy unit within 3". On a 2+, that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds. Then you can add 1 unit of up to 5 Cave Squigs to your army..." Is the adding of cave squigs to your army conditional on there having been any models within 3" (or taking damage from this ability)? To me it seemed obvious that I got to add the unit regardless, but my opponent disagreed.
  25. Well, 94-95 are tzeentch, 96-99 are nurgle(daemons, flying dudes, rotbringers, gutrot rotbringers, respectively), and I believe 100-103 are slaneesh. That leaves 90, 92, and 93 between Khorne, STD, and Beastmen. Any guesses on those?
