  1. 100% agree. Dark Souls or even Kingdom of Death background are over the top settings and more grimdark than the Old World by a mile.
  2. There are two points in this argument: First point is about the "Cover Bonus". Cover is given by two sources: 1) Your unit is "wholly within or wholly on" a terrain feature and 2) If all your models in that unit are within 1" from a terrain feature that have the Obstacle ability (there are other abilities that can give cover too, but that's more about warscrolls than core mechanics). Segond point is about LoS. If I remember correctly, LoS is just about who can be a legal target. Imho, the only problem about this writting is in the second point. I understand that true LoS can become the focus of some discussions, but I'm not sure that giving cover to how much of the miniature you can see will fix the problem.
  3. If your army uses ranged fire to support other melee/magic units, then you will not care (you will just kill less in your "support" phase). If your army is 100% focused in ranged units (or 80/20) like Kharadrons Overlords... Ranged armies are already handicapped (less phases to do damage, look out sir, LoS, Obstacles giving +1 saves, etc...), and they usually have some inner downsides (low movement, low melee damage, low defense, etc...). I really hope to see a rework for KO. Give them more tricks!! Barak-Zon charges should be devastating! Barak-Nar should destroy magic! Mhornar should be all about surprise attacks and make ships better in the Zilfin lists (and I mean, "better" than being an alpha-strike tax). Sorry for the rant.
  4. I prefer a coherent setting. Don't care if it's Low or High Fantasy, but if it makes sense, I'm fine. Low fantasy don't need a lot to make sense, but behind a high fantasy setting, you need A LOT to make it coherent enough to be believable without going to "It's magic" route.
  5. Maybe part of the Brute Warband? Brutes are the Mollog of this warband and grots are the Squigs?
  6. From what we know, nothing points to a Seraphon band: -Kurnothi -Beast of Chaos -Gitmob -Beastclaw Raiders (hunter) -Orruks (Ironjawz) -Nurgle -Flesh Eater Courts -DoK (SoS). P.D: Goblins without armor too. Maybe part of one of this warbands? But no serpahon....shame.
  7. No. From another card (shield bash or shield rush or something like that). The centaur charGing a Sister of Slaughter. But I didn't see this one.
  8. From the art of the cards: -Kurnothi -Beast of Chaos -Gitmob -Beastclaw Raiders (hunter) -Orruks (Ironjawz) -Nurgle (if the big woman with horns is a nurgle shaman/wizzard/whatever) -Flesh Eater Courts -DoK (SoS). ( 8 bands, No seraphon....)
  9. I think that they need to focus on keywords and later in battletomes or "new armies". A battletome is just an army that uses "one" keyword. But doesn't mean that all warscrolls should only have 1 "army keyword". Make the Phoenix Temple keyword part of CoS, but give the Hysh Aelves battletome the possibility to take Phoenix Temple too. Use the Dispossessed and Golemkind keyword to build another "new army" tome, but still make them viable to be used in CoS. Kurnothi battletome? Nice, but make a new one with Wanderers+Sylvaneth and Kurnothi for a full "wood elfs over 9000" army. We already have some Soup battletomes (Legion of Nagash, Beasts of Chaos, etc...), so continue with that, and then, create new ones (Arkhan leading Bonereapers, good! now mix them with Deathrattle and create "Legion of Skellyboys"!!).
  10. I always thought that AoS gods are more close to Dark Souls Gods than OP ones that traditional religions. They walk among living, they can be hurt and put down on their knees, some weapons can kill them too, we know that there are some entities than can drink their power (Morathi), etc...
  11. Maybe they aren't Gitmobs. Maybe they are " new Oglah Khan's" mercenaries (Gotrek-style alies for destru)... Maybe they are part of a new keyword (?)... Or maybe they don't have warscroll for AoS 🤣
  12. Not sure that we can compare both products...apple to oranges.
  13. But this high-poly models are not in game's files, they are part of the creative process (they extract some maps directly from them and are the blueprint to make the real mesh for the model). If you want to have some type of texture printed, the best thing that you can do is just download some alphas and start sculpting.
  14. I did that when I was learning 3D (4 years ago) so I'm a bit rusty but from what I remember: Look for the model. I don't know how TWW was organized, but I imagine that you will need some "type of software" to open all database files. Just look for assets, models, etc...and find what you want. Change the extension to another one that your software can use. Import it to Zbrush, Blender, Maya, etc.. but: Some companies save all rigs and models in the same files and others just divide them between diferent datas. If the models are in T pose without any skeleton, then you need to look for the rig files and import them. After that, just move rig controls to make your final pose. If you can't import or use their rigs, you will need to learn your 3D software and pose it by hand (time consuming). After the pose is done, just make the model printable, look for tutorials. Ready to print!!!
  15. Why not? I can't wait to buy him!!!
  16. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Updat the whole pack: models, lore and rules. And I know that both pictures are from Warhammer fantasy too. But one aims for a low fantasy and the other has a lot more going on: overdetailed armors that seems to be taken from Dark Souls, giant ivory castles, magic weapons throwing lighting, etc... and I must say that this fits really well in AoS.
  17. I understand why you don't like AoS, there are a lot of other games that can take the mantle of old Fantasy:9th edition, KoW, Warhammer Project Army, etc... I still believe that free people are going to be updated with an AoS aesthetics, and become more like this than this.
  18. Descriptions like "Spiritual successor", "Tomb kings in AoS", "Tomb kings updated to 11", etc... are so ambiguous that everyone can have diferent perspective. I'm not saying that they are the new Tomb Kings, but I understand what some people are talking about. We know that GW wants to create unique aesthetics to TM/copyright their products, so it's a bit logic that a popular referense will not be used (at least, not for something that wants to be 100% new). Knowing that, if we discard anything about mummies and egyptian mythos of Tomb Kings we will have... a lot of work. About their Lore, they only need a bit of the feeling of the old Tomb Kings. Like you said, they have that militaristic thing going on, they seems to not be mindless skeletons, Katakros seems to be close to a "king of kings" (an emperor only behind a god), bone constructs (going all in), an undead army with a war-machine (catapult) and we don't know what mechanics are going to have (hierpohants!!!). It's enough to be the new Tomb Kings? Maybe not. It's enough to be an Spiritual Successor? For you, it's clearly not enough. For others...
  19. Hey!! Most of your points are just positive ones that "really worked" for me. To each their own.
  20. I prefer the "skeleton face" over this ones, but I can see a lot of diferent directions to why they did them like that. I don't know, but if someone explains that they have this type of "creepy" smiles to produce some fear, giving the feeling that this "monsters"have some type of personality and they enjoy what are they going to do to you if you don't pay (I believe that the samurai/oni masks were used to do the same), then I must say that I will understand why they went with this faces, even if there are a lot of other type of awesome designs that they could do too. Btw, I really like the concept of a "Halloween Cavalcade" of undead horrors!!
  21. For an entire new army? I really hope not.
  22. Yes, of course. "Boring" is shaddy word. You can use it for their design, for their pose, for their sculpt, etc... or just for the whole miniatures. Everyone gives more importance to whatever they want of course. Btw, I don't have any problems with classic skellies.
  23. They are still boring... they are like...every other skeleton. Their sculpts are nice, but their design... Necrons at least have some type of simplification to make them more in line with sci-fi stuff (no teetch, etc...), fantasy skeletosn are just... skeletons, doens't matter how good you sculpt them, they are still boring.
  24. I must disagree. A) They don't look outdated, they just look diferent from what people wanted, and people wanted dinamic skeletons with maybe a twist. That's not the miniature problem btw (at least, for about 80% of people that don't like this miniatures). Of course there are some desgings that could be better, that happens in very army. B) Necrons are designed after Terminators. Terminators are robo-skeletons. The only diference is that Necrons have a thin coat of "neo-pharaoh" style (Tomb Kings in space). I find that fantasy skeletons with some type of future-weapons and painted with metal are "more" Necrons than this miniatures. Bonereapers seems to take aesthetics from mongols, japanese and eastern cultures than just reimagined Tomb Kings in space. The only thing that Necrons and Bonereapers have in common is that they look a bit "biffier" than normal skeletons.
  25. They are awesome!!! They have some minor problems, but nothing important. I see some touch of dark-fantasy here and there, a bit of H. R. Giger organic designs, a bit of story behind some miniatures, etc... 8/10 army. The catapults are one of their best minis (maybe fighting for first place with Katakros), but what I want to know is how they play. They pointed out that Katakros is "greatest military strategist", so I hope to see that reflected with how they play. Not just some powerful units, but all units beign part of the perfect clockwork war-mechanism. Just go all in!!! Make this army be really awesome to play, or play against!!!
