  1. Hey guys! 7 months after opening, we've developed a great community around Age of Sigmar and wanted to highlight some of them! We've started with Benjamin Savva, who discusses his Daughters of Khaine army. I hope you find it interesting as he discusses influences on the theme of his army and the narrative background to all his armies- the Erstwood.

    Rules pack now available here.
  3. Though the PL system is not that well done in 40k, generally more granularity makes it harder to balance a game, not easier. It's harder to balance a game with 10,000,000 possible combinations than 1,000. Age of Sigmar already has different points for different weapons loadouts- they just call the units different names. For example one kit makes Paladins, Retributors, Protectors and Decimators, all with different rules and points values. In my experience, "micro management" manifests itself as "figuring out how to break the system" or "how did the rules designers ****** up points values?". Much harder to do when units have simplified points values.
  4. Yeah what a bizarre list of points changes for Nurgle. It's always funny seeing these points change wishlists because it's really clear that on a smaller local level, the meta is completely different from city to city, country to country. Nurgle are non-existent in our tournaments and they just cannot compete against almost any other recent battletome army. Thricefold is the only competitive list in our local meta and even then it's pretty low-level and basically never played.
  5. I think it's worth saying that AoS was just open play previously. In that sense, anyone can play with anyone. They've just been slow to integrate that flexibility into matched play. But they're getting there. And I'm hyped for a necromancer and skellybros with my other armies.
  6. That's a good point RE old world associations. I think SC being able to ally with anyone is thematic generally, as Sigmar is the head of the pantheon (sort of). But there's lots that don't make sense, particularly by their absence.
  7. Yeah people who think it breaks narrative has never read an AoS novel. Hell even in forbidden power, fyreslayers betray SC for Nighthaunt.
  8. This is really exciting! Having read quite a few AoS novels, there's an interesting mix between forces and even grand alliances that isn't reflected in the rules right now (unless you just play open play). Having rules for a rogue necromancer to join my Nurgle or Stormcase force is really cool!
  9. Finished 40 ghouls- another 60 to go! Simple base coat/wash/drybrush for these guys so i can concentrate on the basing for the bigger models. Quick job on the charnel throne too- airbrush basecoat and shading then wash/drybrush. Trying some skin shading on the second Arch Regent and it looks ok...sorta.
  10. It's not entirely unlikely they re-cost summoning for us tho- as you say 14 contagion for 10 plaguebearers that usually come on turn 3 earliest is insane. They could just half the cost of all summoning and we still wouldn't compete with Slaanesh.
  11. I realised this when i ran my first "summoning" list with Horticulous. Explained it was 1mw on a 4+ in each hero phase and my opponent just stood next to both trees and kept models in both sides of the table. Got nothing summoned for the game. Easies thing to shut down.

Rage of Sigmar is a two day, 5 game, 30 player tournament, held at Bad Moon Cafe on the 13th and 14th July 2019. Tickets will go on sale at this link at 08.00am on Monday 13th May 2019. Rules pack will follow soon, but in brief: 2000pts General's Handbook 2019 Basic painting level required for all armies. No soft scores. Secondaries will be from Hidden Agendas, using a score your own/deny your opponent system. Scoring full secondaries in all games will be worth less than minor victory, but will be worth more than a minor loss. Thus, one player will be on 5-0 and win the tournament, whilst secondaries will be mostly to split 4-1 and 3-2s. No realmscape rules. Scenarios to be announced 30 minutes before each game, selected from the Core Book and General's Handbook 2019.

  16. In my last 5 games with nurgle i successfully cast blades twice. Though that luck transferred to my SCE as well, so it's not a nurgle specific problem! I think Glottkin's great- he does great combat and range damage, his spell is one of the best in the game as is his command ability! Only thing for me is the 7 to cast- it just never happens for me (and statistically is like half the time) and it's a big reason to take him IMO. In AoS 1, I always took him and had great success with Nurgle. It's just a little too much like a struggle in AoS 2 to play them too often!
  17. I know you're a decent Nurgle player, but not relying on spells, when Nurgle spells are one of the best things about nurgle, just shows how disadvantaged we are by a year and a half of newer battletomes and the huge increase of magic in the meta.
  18. I'd also say if our stuff gets a points drop in GH19 we'll be in a better place. Right now thricefold is the only list that seems to go 4-1 or better at tournaments, but plaguebearers and blightkings are great battleline units. Plague drones are a great unit in general too, but at 2k points i always feel i don't quite have enough. I also think if blades of putrefaction and blightknig's ability trigger on a role of 6 before modifiers that would really help. Right now there's so much -1 to hit stuff that blades and blightkings become useless/extremely expensive unit for zero damage output.
  19. I'm hoping to grab a load for our tables! They were citadel woods before wyldwoods!
  20. GW are better than ever at responding to balance, but they're still GW. The community will always have to decide on the final balance of the stuff we use in games. I haven't heard of a player demanding to use realmscape features in a matched play game- it's generally agreed to not use them.
  21. I agree with what you say mostly. But regarding balance- how's Gristlegore changing the "balanced" aspect of AoS right now? Is it possible mercs will be less unbalanced than Gristlegore? I mean barely anyone uses the allies system right now. Mercs just opens that up more, but i wouldn't be surprised if barely anyone used it. I just think the community is pretty sensible with this stuff. Most tournaments have some aspect of realm rules without the most unbalanced parts even though initially the reaction was "this breaks the game" from a lot of matched play people.
  22. I don't get this attitude. It's so common in nerdy pastimes- just play the game you want, no one is forcing you to play 100% of the rules GW release. We know literally nothing about this release. If it breaks the game, most TOs won't use it. Otherwise it's an interesting change. I recall how livid people went when fantasy was killed and AoS released. Who now would want to go back to fantasy? Yet if GW did what the fans wanted, AoS would be cancelled and we'd still be using 150 pages of rules for a grossly unbalanced game.
  23. As a TO, if it's similar in it's swinginess to realmscape stuff, i just won't include it. As someone who plays casual/narrative games mostly, it's great. I'd like to make a cool converted unit to ally into one of my armies.
