  1. GW haven't said that's the only death release - quite the contrary. What this battletome does is to allow anybody with a Death army the ability to jump into the campaign with a full range of abilities and options. Nothing stopping people playing a GHb2017 Death army either
  2. I think Legions of Nagash will actually have a unique way of determining which Legion your army comes from. Could be as simple as a list of units that you can pick (there aren't so many that this will become unwieldy). Just dawned on me that it's almost a year since I got excited about a Battletome
  3. I spoke last night to a friend who went to the New Year Open Day on Saturday (I sadly couldn't get there this year). From what he said: Legion's of Nagash is meant to represent the legions of Nagash in a similar way that Archaon collects together many aspects of Chaos to form the Everchosen (or at least in the novels). My own interpretation is that this battletome will replace the Grand Alliance: Death book - do not read that this is Death in it's final form. Malign Portents is confirmed as a year(ish) long campaign with a big interactive bit during the summer. As with our last (first) big campaign, the results will shape the future of AoS. Each of the Heralds contains rules within the box to allow you to integrate them into your Grand Alliance. Additionally Malign Portents will contain rules that you can use when playing your games. Malign Portents will include additional releases for Death - GW staff weren't specific so we could be looking at anything from a single clam pack through to a brand new faction(s). Overall really exciting.
  4. Last time I was up at WHW they still had some. I don't think it's a stock item though
  5. In this month's White Dwarf there are pictures of newly painted Dreadstone Fortresses, Witchfate Tor and Deathknell Watch in the battle report and behind Nagash in the Death feature is a Skullvane Manse...
  6. Could well be the campaign is just a part of the Season. Looking forward to seeing what comes out either way Well done that man!
  7. Fairly sure you're right, we had Season of War the year before (started July, but there was build up to it). I've a feeling this one will have a heavier narrative element in the same way the Albion campaign had. I just hope they make it easier submit results than they did with 40k.
  8. I'm thinking it might be the tail of a horse/mountable beast
  9. Gang War 2 is 2018 - confirmed on the WHC website. I guess there's a chance it will be January but I suspect it'll be out in time for the HH/Necromunda Weekender the first week of February. In the back of my head I recall that we don't get a release window over Christmas and New Year from GW. Probably the first lot of pre-orders will go up on the weekend of the 6th when there's the New Years Open Day.
  10. I'd say it's an essential read for any Death players out there. Really sets up the key characters and the attitude of Nagash Has him being in the Daemons Codex been confirmed?
  11. Interesting comment I picked up over the weekend off Twitter...
  12. Heard similar the other month. One of the main stumbling blocks is that the electricity sub-station needs upgrading on the trading estate GW are based on and until that's done they are at the limit of available power.
  13. I can see where you're coming from, but GW was very upfront about this year being 40k focused (we did get more AoS last year in comparison to 40k) with it being an anniversary year and a massive rules update. They have also said that we've got a load of stuff coming next year. The Easy Build kits are also intended for new or younger players as a cost-effective way of getting into the hobby - we have Start Collecting and Warband boxes that fill a similar role (but generally with more model options). If you put them to one side there are only three model releases for 40k and the promised 2 Codexes The thing is that we're all largely in the same boat as each other, so we all feel your frustration - but I'm fairly sure it will improve
  14. New rumour picture: Edit: Here's the cryptic Facebook quotes:
  15. Battalions are a real mixed baggage. Some will allow the units to perform better (e.g. making a combat unit more killy), others help to reduce the poor bits of units (e.g. making a slow unit faster) and other just add extra abilities. All of them reduce the number of deployments you make (which means you're more likely to be able to choose who takes first turn) and provide an extra artefact. Since the new handbook, we've seen the number of battalions being fielded reduce due to the points required for them, because they're now competing with models on the table. Generally for Khorne, Gorepilgrims, Brass Stampede and Murderhost are generally considered to provide a good points to performance ratio
  16. Mortal Realms produced a load of 1" round tokens you could stamp out and use. That plus a 1" punch and some 1" clear bottle cap pendant sticky things make some pretty cheap and durable tokens
  17. It plays towards the whole "Garden of Nurgle" concept, where Nurgle isn't about corruption but about rebirth from decay and repeating in a perpetual cycle. We're seeing it a lot more now in AoS, there are quite a few stories about it and even models are following that theme (Horticulous Slimux)
  18. Rose with thorns... Part of me wants to say Nurgle too, but we've equally not seen the Order Malign Portents character. Could of course be something random and a new Gardener faction where they wield shears and dangerous spray guns of bug spray.
  19. Completely agree with this. GW were pretty up front earlier this year in saying they were giving 40k the lions share of the releases due to it being an anniversary year. I've found it a great opportunity to catch up on projects and also look at some of the "side" releases like Firestorm and Shadespire too.
  20. Should be as it clearly represents the warscroll. The line tends to be when you use parts from other miniature companies - so you couldn't use parts from an Avatars of War model for example.
  21. Very interesting to see those bits from the weekend - roughly the quantity that I was expecting (this wasn't a GW event afterall). My own "crystal ball" prediction is we're going to see a new age go live next March and the new logo will tie into that. March is when we're likely getting the AoS Open Day (40k is next weekend, you've then the New Year one in January and HH Weekender in February). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see more scenery released alongside the new age. New Darkoath model is lovely, really pushes that classic Conan barbarian style, but keeping with a Chaos Undivided theme. Can see what people are saying about the armour, though my own thoughts is that it really works (having the correct balance of form and function). New Skaven warband was quite a nice reveal, we knew it was coming so got more of a reveal than a hint.
  22. Pretty much all of my experience has been on 40k models, so things like Knights etc which tend to have really simple base, wash, highlight approach. I tend to use a more military modelling approach to my 40k models than AoS, mainly due to the size of the models. Wash wise, I use gloss washes, or regular washes thinned with air caste thinner (makes them satin) and paint them in the recesses rather than all over. Recently I've found that Gunmetal drybrushed with Silver Rub n Buff and then edge highlighted in Silver is pretty effective for large weapons
  23. If you look for cauldrons for doll's houses, they're roughly the right scale, then just need a bit of fine chain and can connect it up to the regular resin butcher
