  1. Not many bad choices- all mages trigger the armour buff and all mages have mystic shield. The archmage bubble and Loremaster hand of glory both work fine and the dragon mage ability to cast twice is enough on it's own.
  2. On the strength of Aelven monsters don't underestimate paired Frostheart Phoenixes with some mage support- there's a reason they appear in a number of tournament winning mixed order lists (along with the dragonmage) and if they don't get a cost increase in GHB2018 I'll be shocked.
  3. Oh of course on the cover! I don't normally run any monsters in my current list so I'd forgotten that one. Yeah 2.0 should limit the use of Mystic shield on him too. I wasn't saying he was under costed (I hadn't even spotted a points cost) I was just saying with that profile don't expect much to survive contact with it, like Archaon many armies would be restricted to trying to tarpit it with chaff and complete objectives around it.
  4. As his spell effects himself he should often have a 3+ save much of the time and you are unlikely to find a better target for his command ability than himself so the nasty jaw attack will be 2+/2+ (which makes quite a difference, especially when enemies start throwing negative modifiers) and gets the crushing claws to 3+/3+. His offensive power is up nearly 30% depending on target and he comes with two unbinds for flavour. This thing is an apex predator! None of the aelven faction behemoths can meet this dude head on (though an ice 'nix could probably tank him half a game with the right support but that's 'nixes for you?)
  5. Though it should be noted that the Magma Drake warscroll you created exceeds Archaon in a number of areas so without going a bit crazy not much will go toe to toe with it.
  6. This is a nice addition. I haven't tried these in a game though have written a Lore of High Magic that shared some similarities. Tempest - probably too nasty as a casting value of 5, this was one of the things that made Teclis into a monster. Iceshard Blizzard - Nasty debuff, I like it. Walk Between Worlds - I'd honestly remove the to hit modifier from it and give it a range. As it stands you'd basically use it on a dragon mage as a defensive buff but with that change you can use it to protect an armoured target Storm of Stone - good for trashing war machine crews or hero clusters. I'd increase the range though or make it more reliable as currently it's a bit hard to justify this over an arcane bolt. Arcane Unforging - This is one we played around with but found it had too many unforeseen consequences. The ability to remove a priests prayers or an Morathi's 3 wound damage restriction was a bit mad. Light of Battle - The name is already used by the Lore of Light Battlemage but the effect is pretty badass. Could finally make those Swordmasters actually worth their points! Nice work, dude, and very nice presentation! Can't want to read the next.
  7. I quite like the godbeast angle here as it's something cool GW created then dropped to go describe more stormcast battles (the god beats book is misnamed, sadly). So your Lore has the Lion Rangers as an almost shamanistic order that primarily reveres Korhil the Ur-Lion and his children. There's a lot of room there for fun schisms and treachery. Beats the current Lore of 'Aelves who like Lions and Axes'.
  8. I really like the 'cunning not brave' ability. The idea of putting a buff on the unmounted version of a unit to make it worth the points is great one.
  9. If you ever run a narrative campaign in this setting please, please, please post it here.
  10. This is very, very cool. Nice work!
