  1. There have been changes apparently afoot at Forge World for literally years now.
  2. Where on earth does your bizarre conclusion that you have to sculpt models come from? Assuming something as simple as a variable arm, the only work you need to do is glue the arms in the same position. If that is more work than you are willing to do then... good gracious.
  3. Fantastic, but why should I be limited by your preferences? If, to use an amazingly small example, there is the option to position arms on a model, you have the choice to still create units the way you prefer- you have to do a little more work than you would do otherwise, but we are both happy at the end of the day. If we go monopose, you're very happy and I have to choose between clone statues and no models at all. Which is better? The world where we can both enjoy things or the one where I'm dissatisfied and you're happy?
  4. Yes, this truly is what we should be aiming towards in modelling standards- a return to the mid 90s!
  5. Monopose might work for some of you, but it's ridiculous to take things away from the hobbyist and expect them to pay more. There is a fine line to draw- I don't think many people advocate a return to the monkey-rats of the first multipart Skaven regiment- I will be a happy Clawlord if I never have to glue another tail on in my life. But in a horde regiment, the ability to mix and match small things like weapons and arm position makes a big difference, and in smaller, more elite regiments, monopose models become increasingly obvious. A huge part of the hobby is (or was) customisation, being able to build your guys the way you want them. For me personally, the verisimilitude of not having an army of clones is a big deal. I go to a lot of trouble to make my Stormfiends look different, and I can manage those conversions because Stormfiends are big models and cutting and changing is within the limit of my mediocre hobby abilities... but I look at my Chainrasps, and while I can appreciate the convenience of them being Easy To Build, that convenience is not so much that it overcomes the fact that I am left looking at a unit where every guy is absolutely identical to three others. I do not understand why I should pay for the privilege of having choice removed.
  6. Clearly horses could not be trusted to keep faith with the God King and have gone over to Chaos so he replaced them with creatures more amenable on the topic of copyright.
  7. So having ploughed through dozens of pages of people authoritatively declaring they knew there would be no new releases (or thereabouts) for Slaves, will anybody be coming forward to eat some of this crow I have here? 😅 These new Chaos Warriors are making me seriously question my refusal to start any new armies on top of the... *counts* five I already have. They're just gorgeous models, and that long boi is also going to sorely test my resolve.
  8. The notable move towards monopose models is also a contributing factor to my increasing unwillingness to drop fat stacks on plastic crack. Having shelled out a fair bit for Chainrasps in 2018, I now have however many of those little buggers repeating the same ten poses over and over again. They're cracking designs, no argument, and the easy to build aspect made getting them out of the sprue and onto their bases a doddle, but... frankly, Clanrats look better, and that's solely down to the tiny facts that you have the option to pair different arms with different bodies, and pose the arms. It's a bit tedious having to remodel my Stormfiends to achieve the bare minimum of the appearance of variation between them. I wish GeeDubs would go back to the system of interchangeable arms, legs, heads, etc which was such a winner, both in terms of model appearance and conversion opportunities.
  9. A combination of the price rises and the increasing lack of variety in stores has stopped me buying any models in-store since... oh I don't know, must be January. As far as Skaven go, my local GW now offers only Clanrats, Plague Monks and Stormfiends. Warp lightning cannon? Doomwheel? Grey Seer? Verminlord? Screaming Bell? Hell, the Start Collecting box? Not a whisker to be seen of any of them. And so my impulse buys have disappeared, because price increases are enough to make me think twice once the additional dopamine rush of, "Fancy new plastic thing!!!" is removed.
  10. Faction dice are a toss of the coin. Skaven? Awesome- they're thematic and legible. Idoneth? Sylvaneth? Someone lend me their neck tie so I can end it all.
  11. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the engagement with the depression subject. I appreciate everyone who took the time to reply. Edit: also, re: Kickstarter: it would be best not to back anything for the moment given the company's recent anti-union debacle.
  12. It's a life thing rather than a burnout thing, but it hasn't been helped by a revolting end to a relationship. And hobby got entwined in that so now I pick up my brush and look at my models and it brings up a lot of memories, which makes me really sad that it's effectively soiled my hobby.
  13. Depression has hit really bad lately. Haven't done any painting, even though I made such good progress with my Arch-Warlock at the start of the month. If anyone has had a similar experience, I'd be curious to know how you powered out of it.
  14. I feel a bit bad bringing something up from two pages ago, but as someone very much not on the side of that Gamergate nonsense, I felt an urge to point out that OP didn't say that we should start a "Gamergate" movement. They said "Gamerrage", and I'm pretty confident that the capitalisation was unintended. No need to characterise it as pathetic either. As someone who had several Stormfiend and Poison Wind Mortar models invalidated by GW in the Skaven battletome, I sympathise with the Cities players- a little bit of empathy, rather than accusing people of whining, might go a little way.
  15. I'm quite taken with the new Kurnothi, but then I always liked fawns and satyrs and centaurs. Maybe it was the influence of Mr. Tumnus. Meanwhile, boy oh boy, we sure needed more Space Marines!
  16. Oh, is Blood and Glory coming up? I hadn't noticed at all! 😉
  17. "AoSification", such as it is, seems to me to embody the phrase, "become your brand".
  18. And, in spite of the multitude of DLC, it's still cheaper than actually buying a single Warhammer army.
  19. What in Feth's name does this designer suppose is happening in battle, except for nubile elf-women fulfilling his every fantasy? I mean, I'm all for perverted elf-based fantasies, just not when they're turned into a miniature line.
  20. Total War: Warhammer 2 really is peak Warhammer. At least until Total War: Warhammer 3 comes along.
