  1. I would strongly disagree regarding WHFB 8th Edition. Ranks were 4 wide, Attacke striktes First and all models killed in base to base could not fight anymore. Everyone was playing those 5-man cavalry units and redirecting units which were cheap cavalry units. Infantery was only good when it was stubborn or unbreakable. Shooting only served for killing redirectors. Bretonnia s were one of the power house armies back then. However, the friends who recruited me for WHFB played Bretonnians, so I never had a Problem with them once I learned playing against them... with a Chaos Cavalry srmy mixed with monsters from BoC...
  2. I do Not know if this already came up in this thread. Nevertheless, I got the idea, how ideal the Mindstealer Sphiranx is as an ally for Beasts OF Chaos. It Provides BoC with the buffs already existi g in BoC armies. However, you do not always put the Bull through. Mindstealer ASL always worms even through the Range is short and IT only works in the hero phase. If you use Ungor screen, this is not that big of an issue if you have the next turn. Moreover, you can easily construct a - 5 braver bomb combines with the ravening direflock. What do you think of this 100 point Support-Piece?
  3. There is a lot, so let me start.. First of All, ging full Bloodreavers will not work out very well. They Die in droves, you will never be able to fit 40 in and their leadership is horrible. Additionally, the Chaos Lord will Not work with Bloodreavers, as He only buffs Slaves to Darkness units. So either go with small units of Bloodreavers and drop the Chaos Lord or go full Marauders. If you go with Marauders and Chaos Lord and still use Skarbrand, you might as well take the Reapers of Vengeance Slaughterhost, which will allow Skarbrand to Pole in twice, whereas the Chaos Lord lets your other units Pole in twice. The Warahrine worms a lot Vetter with Slaves to Darkness units as well, because his aura and his warscroll prayer only work on Slaves. And if you use Slaughterpriests and Bloodsecrator, you should take the Gore Pilgrims Bataillon. It consists of 2-3 Slaughterpriests, 1 Bloodsecrator, one unit of Bloodwarriors and 1-2 Bloodreavers. So a lot of units you would take anyway and after including the Bataillon you got your battleline done. Moreover, the Bloodsecrator's auras are increased up to 24 inches. Hope, this was not too much and helps you in list building.
  4. OK, I am blessedwith Marauders sculpts. In Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition, Hordes of 50 Marauders werde a usual sight on the tables. And they were the First Minis I painted
  5. I would propose to give your Karkadrak the Dimensional Blade, He becomes a Real beast with 6 Attacks, Rend - 3 and 3 damage. Who to give the Thronebreaker's Torc? Either the Bloodsecrator or you switch your Bloodthirster for a Demon Prince with the Thronebreaker's Torc, so you have his command ability and a decent spiky roadblock. More than that, you need some more threats. I would take out the Skullcrusher, because 3 Do not Do very much, reduce the Bataillon to a minimum and you have 490 points to play with. You could fill them with Marauders as you need a third battleline then and the Rest is up to you. I personally would go with 40+20 Marauders, so that you have 4 threats your enemy has to deal with.
  6. You can make a pretty Solid list out of your units you already have. Dreadlord on Black Dragon, Sorceresses, Dark Shards, Dreadspears, Dark Riders, Shadow Warriors and Executioners are quite good choices. And if you ally in some Khinerai, you could make a very potent deepstrike combined with the Shadow Warriors. If you want to add some more units, Phoenix Guard or Black Guard are very good Elven choices. I would stay away from Corsairs, as they are bad or Ballistas, because you have no support for them. What I would consider as well would be if you have the best City for your army. Tempest Eye would be my proposition for this one, because of Eagle Eye command trait for the Darkshards and the +1 attack spell for the Executioners. Moreover, the round 1 Bonus is a very nice Addition. Just try around with the Scrollbuilder and bring up some lists, so that we can make educated Suggestion.
  7. Instead of just whining, how bad Our army is, we should try to find the best possibly Setups available so that we can make the best of Our book. What are your best unit Setups? How do your units function best? I try to make a Start: Chaos Warriors only have 1 viable setup in my opinion. They are an anvil unit, so they need to be as defensive as possible. For that purpose, they need the Mark of Nurgle and warshrine Support for that sweet re-rollable 3+ save. And they get a 6+ shrug on top! What other unit can Do that? I know... - _- However, they also go ot their shields for MW protection and they can do some damage via the Nurgle Bataillon and if you want to add some fightiness, Support them with Festus. In top of that, they are super mobile with the mask of darkness. Marauders are good with any Mark but Tzeentch. However, Khorne seems to be slightly ahead for me, because Khorne improves their weak spot-wound rolls. Nevertheless, Slaanesh and Nurgle work pretty good as well. Marauders Horsemen are Not there to fight, so they do not need that much of a Mark. Perhaps undivided for battleshock immunity. Anyone got bettet ideas? Chaos Knights have two good Setups in my opinion. First one is Mark of khorne and ensorcelled weapons. With a command point, you have 3 attack hitting and woubding on 2s for a lot of secure - 1 Rend wounds. The other setup, is Knights with Lances and Mark of Slaanesh. They are Our only unit with a - 2 Rend, that for itself makes them interesting. Mark of Slaanesh improves the number of Hits, especially combined with Hit Re-rolls. If you have them pile in twice, even a unit of 5 can be dangerous to any unit out there. Chaos Chariots and Gorebeast Chariots are Not mark-dependant as well. However, the Ruinbringer Warband is a must have for them as it improves their Main purpose, dealing Mortal Wounds on the Charge. Ruinbringer Warband doubles their MW Output making them able to gang a scary Monster character. Have 3 Chariots Charge a Monster and they will tear it down or wound it very badly. Chosen can shine with every Mark. However, if you included Allies, Khorne is the best Mark for them, just for the sheer number of attacks. Otherwise, Slaanesh is viable for more-more attack Power. This is my opinion on Our units so far. Maybe I Provider you with a few ideas, Maybe you disagree or have other propositions. Let us find the best combos
  8. How about allying in a Bloodstoker to ensure your Charges? Seems like a legit Option to me. The other Option would be a unit of Marauder Horsemen, who can also be Part of the Bataillon.
  9. I have a question regarding the blood tithe reward Nr. 8. It says that if you score a Hit roll of 6, you score 2 Hits. What about the mortal wounds on Hit rolls of 6 from Units like Bloodletters or Skullreapers? Do they apply twice as well? Or is this negated by the last sentence that you have to make a wound roll for each Hit? Moreover, I have read that Karanak does Not cost a hero choice. Is that true? Where can I find it? And why does nobody play Bloodletter? Ok, they are very squishy and you do not get that many models in, but in the current meta with Reapers of Vengeance and Unfettered Fury with Crimson Crown, they could Come in handy behind a Bloodreavers screen...
  10. Considering the Skullcrushers: When I fielded them First, I thought, I would have to Set up units of 6 for a Charge to burst in mortal wounds. However, this worked out rarely, if ever. Their 8" movement and the enemy knowing what you are about to do just ruins all the effort. Where they really shine at is holding objectives. They won me games by simply not dying. In the meta I play in, we hold objectives with more wounds, not more models. Thus, having a unit of 6 sitting on an objective is truly a threat to your enemy's Plans. He just cannot score any points because of the number of wounds and the large footprint. One unit of 6 once fended off a Verminlord, a unit of Clanrats and a Hellpit Abomination for three turns, which won me the game, because my other crusher units just wiped his starting zone.
  11. You can summon Bloodletters for Blood Tithe Points. You receive a Blood Tithe Point for wach unit that ist killed. For further Info, check the general's handbook.
  12. However, you could use your Priest and Flagellants as allies for Free People. Nevertheless, they are weaker in a Free People Army than in a Devoted of Sigmar Army (their own subfaction), because they really Shine If they are buffed by Priests and Altar. Regarding State Troops, Sword and Board is the way to go, because they got a better save, combined with a general's trait they can Go Up to a 3+ save re-rolling ones. Concerning the shooty faction, there is a simple rule of thumb: Smalltalk units- muscetiers, large units- X-bows. X-bows are only strong in big Units of 20+ because they can Then Shoot twice. Muscetiers can have a unit Champion with the very strong Hochland Long rifle, so multiple small Units mean multiple Hochland rifles. Regarding Demigryphs: It is better to go for chars on Griffon than for Demigryphs. Griffons are pretty strong and cheap for a Monster+ Charakter, whereas Demigryphs can somewhat stand their ground, but have a hard time dealing damage.
  13. I thought you would use your Slaughterpriests to heal the Dragon. If you have such a huge model that costs so many Points you should be able to heal some wounds. If your Dragon falls, the Game is over. However, for objective purposes this Army has too few bodies. Perhaps you could drop the Bloodsecrator and the Bataillon, Go with 3* Reavers and you have 370 spare Points for chaff and perhaps one fighty unit, so that Not your whole game relies in the Dragon. As artifact you should Go for the Auto dispel. Especially against death armies with all their buffs/debuffs, a Safe dispel can save your Dragon.
  14. Thank you for your sound advice. That gave me a Lot of food for thought. Seems to me that a Thirster and a Secrator do not fit into this Kind of list. So I need to think about how to fit in more Crushers ans more bodies overall. I am Not a Fan of Units that I Just throw at the enemy to get deleted, I'd rather use a unit that can kill a chaff unit on it's own, so that the First Blood tithe is from an enemy unit. Brass Stampede does not Like chaff Screens at all. So I guess I should Go for a unit of flesh hounds that can kill a chaff Block and die Afterwards. Perhaps I should even use Slaughterpriests instead of a Gaunt Summoner, the +1 to save is pretty sweet on Crushers. I Just need a horde-deleting unit Like Skullreapers or Khorgoraths...
  15. Hello everyone! I need your help for list building. I want to play a full Brass Stampede, which is at 1320 Points for seven Units of skullcrushers + Lord+ Bataillon. So what Else can I Take for the remaining 680 points that complements this list well? Gore Pilgrims would be an auto-include; However, they cost 30 Points too much. So I was thinking of a Bloodsecrator, because he gives the whole Brass Stampede 2 attacks. A Bloodthirster of insensate rage with Slaughterborn and Crimson Crown would be another good Addition( I don't own Malign Sorcery, so I do not know about the realm artefacts), because he can fly into the enemy backfield Clearing Up what ist not Held in place by the Brass Stampede. The weakness of a Brass Stampede are Horde Units, especially regrowing hordes. In Order to even Out this weakness I think that an Allied Gaunt Summoner would be a good anti-horde-weapon, even though it is un-khorny .And I get two dispells on top. Which leaves me with 100 Points..what now? Bloodstoker? Slaughterpriest? Khorgorath? Skarr Bloodwrath? Skylla? Or should I Take a completely different Road because I need more bodies or because other choices are even better for a Brass Stampede? Do you have experience playing a Brass Stampede? What should I pay Attention to? What plays into my cards, what ist my Nemesis? I would be grateful for some input on my thoughts, Thank you very much in advance
  16. Considering your list, you could Drop one unit of Blood Warriors and Split the Reavers in 2. That could free 360 points, sufficient for 10 Knights, 10 Wrathmongers or 10 Chosen+ Aspiring Deathbringer. Maybe one of These Options can do the Trick for you.
  17. Imho you have a good Counter against the Dragon with Skarbrand, otherwise you could use Slaughterpriest's Blood Boil. About the Skeletons... you need a Lot of Rend 1 wounds to get rid of them. There are several Units who are very good at this: Chaos Chosen, Khorgoraths, Wrathmongers and Chaos Knights with Lances. However, I would highly recommend the Mortal Options. Khorgoraths are nice, gut they cannot bei buffed AS Well as Mortal Units. Mortal Units can gain +2 Attacks ( Bloodsecrator+ Aspiring Deathbringer), +1 to wound from the Juggerlord,+ to Hit from the Slaughterpriests and re-rolling 1s to wound from Mister Whippy. If you count in these buffs, all three units- Chosen, Knights and Wrathmongers- are able to delete these skellies in one Turn. And remember- you can dictate the enemie's movement with your Slaughterpriests as well- so no Objective camping. Against Magic, however, there is little you can do. The Khorne Dragon has a -3 to Cast...yeah, that's all - to Cast Khorne has. Just try to Blood Boil or Lure His casters Out.
  18. The Idea ist that you Charge both the Ungor and the Tzaangors into an enemy unit. You make full contact with the Ungors and only have one Tzaangor in contact with as few enemy Models as possible. The other Tzaangors are lined Up right behind zur Ungors. So If they enemy attacks, He can only Attack one Tzaangor, the remaining attacks all Hit Ungors. You Pull Out the Ungor casualties making room for the Tzaangors to pile in and voila, you Hit the enemy unit with all the re-rolls.
