  1. Id glue a shield on the LCoD and everything there is handy in most (old school) lists. Maybe not 3 rets I actually use the first 3 in my v strange list here - https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/dr-star-drakelove-or-how-i-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-the-celestant-prime/
  2. The list I took made use of the Stardrake (one of the 2 breaths), prime, heraldor & dracoth breath attacks. So not focused on mw shooting, but on paper it looked like I had no shooting so that caught opponents off guard when they setup I think. Ido think you are right, I'm still working out what I like and what works. Rule of cool is playing a big part in my decision I think. Plus fewer models with interesting options (the primes guaranteed charge was crucial for me a few times) gives that 'surgical strike' feel I've always liked in wargames.
  3. More and more tournaments in Sweden are moving away from killpoints totally. I mean, often if you are dominant in a match you will have killed more than your opponent - that's a given. However, two different factions can be equally dominant in a match up and yet have a large difference in kps. So I think it's fine (better even) to have a strategy that isn't about killing everything or as much as possible. So long as it works for objectives and 2ndaries. My only problem with the units I have painted up is that I have trouble doing ANY damage against some lists which makes it hard to control and take objectives.
  4. What are your thoughts on (and this is kinda what my strange lists are aiming at these days) going pure mortal wound "shooting"? Most of our stuff that does mw shooting is also threatening in other ways.
  5. Most of their rumours include wordplay and this one mentioned fire wizards
  6. Thanks for the feedback! It is appreciated. Yes this version might lack the damage of the former version (no comet, no evocators, 4 dracothian guard, no judicators) but that version did table armies that it had no business tabling. I'm trying to figure out what the core of the list is (that makes it effective + fun for me) and improve. For example, maybe the key was the stardrake and dracoths? Or maybe it's the stardrake, prime and heraldor? However it is tough to analyse it because it's a bit unusual
  7. I'm trying to push my list idea as far as it will go and I'm not sure if this is "too far" or not. Principle idea (see some earlier lists) - LCoSD and Prime to sow confusion in my opponents head. Side effect - large anchor against hordes and almost all damage. Quite a bit of mortal wounds. Evolution (or devolution) of idea: Mortal Realm: Aqshy Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (560) - General - Celestine Hammer - Trait: Staunch Defender - Artefact: Ignax's Scales - Mount Trait: Thunderlord Lord-Relictor (100) Lord-Castellant (100) Knight-Incantor (140) - Spell: Azyrite Halo Knight-Incantor (140) - Spell: Stormcaller Celestant-Prime (340) 10 x Liberators (200) - Warhammer & Shield - 2x Grandhammers 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows Everblaze Comet (100) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 85 Notes: Relictor is included as a cushion against total commitment (which doesnt totally ruin my list but can make it tough to be where I want). Heraldor is out as I've nothing I particularly care to run and charge with (hmm maybe the drake tbh). Tweaking the list drags me back towards what I took last time where my options include dropping the prime or dropping dracothian guard to bulk out numbers with more numbers or tools. This moves away from what I'm trying to do which is build a list which is "new" to opponents and can cripple them with a bunch of early mortal wounds that the can't really screen against that leaves most opponents demoralised without buff characters and facing the LCoSD.
  8. Oh I see what you mean. I was thinking more that what we sometimes see now is stuff already in planning for sc pre AoS launch. So not reflective of how much attention things get and how sc releases can ruffle feathers. Stuff that gw would swap for something else for goodwill if they could but the work is already done and now it's just reaching fruition. So it's a choice of not releasing anything or releasing sc models.
  9. I've seen this sentiment a bunch but it isn't reflected in how projects are pitched, developed and released in a big company. It seldom makes sense. Even if everything was in the appropriate priority at inception, things get delayed and things get ahead of schedule.
  10. That is a good question. I find the prime has a lot of flexibility which I love but he perhaps doesn't murder anything. He's great laid on top of heraldor and rain of stars. He's also intimidating for the opponent when left off the board. And if I left him until r3 he might be a real slugger. But yes he is very glass-like. I will start painting up evocators after sequitors anyway so Ill be trying more things out! Thanks for the feedback.
  11. Im tempted to forget sequitors as battleline but I feel like trying em. Then I can leave out the arcanum or just demote him. Are 10 seqs a good take as like your 'other'? same points as 2 fulms but other options might outdo them. At the same time they are bodies and wounds which are nice.
  12. I thought that yeah, but I'm thinking it is possible (with how I use the drake) that I'll get out of buff range and I'll end up meeting 12 enlightened and getting toasted without mw. There's more that can put out raw wounds in numbers than mw in numbers. OR I can learn to keep my SD near castellant and Arcanum (but Id like to buff the big lib unit too...)
  13. Im thinking of a mashup list between our two. I took mine to a larger tourney and met some really tough lists and came away with only 2 wins of 5 (lost to Spiderfang - total commitment / a mixed order list where I only lost due to my own memory of Prime's abilities / Phantasmagoria of Fate (18 disc-birds ish, ooof) - relocation orb with 4 ghur monsters. So I think, given the performance over two tourneys, the idea of taking a big character heavy list has legs, buuut I need more bodies. I think I can drop the dracoths (even if I LOVE them). Fulminators whiff, thats what they do. It is like a magic 3+ roll for them, not like other 3+s. I usually end up landing 2 hits on average from the 3+ 3+. The odds are weird! Thinking maybe: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Mortal Realm: Aqshy Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (560) - Celestine Hammer - Artefact: Ignax's Scales - Mount Trait: Keen-clawed Lord-Castellant (100) Knight-Heraldor (100) Celestant-Prime (340) Lord-Arcanum on Gryph-Charger (240) - General - Trait: Staunch Defender - Spell: Azyrite Halo - Mount Trait: Wind Runner 15 x Liberators (300) - Warhammers 5 x Sequitors (120) - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields 5 x Sequitors (120) - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields 5 x Sequitors (120) - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 102 I might also take ethereal amulet on stardrake so that I dont worry about SD range on general and castellant buff range. Thoughts?
  14. 7-10 sessions. I paint most evenings for 2 hrs or so. So 14-20 hrs? I am slow though and go a but above tabletop. I can paint faster and did 30 vulkites in 14 sessions.
  15. Restored the celestant prime fully now. I like the celestant prime without wings look. I've never restored such a complicated model before. For those curious, I bought him so:
  16. imo this works after any and all setups. It doesn't specify "the first time". It doesn't specify "via lightning strike". It's not so OP. It's 1 turn (your own turn) of -1. You'd need to complete a charge after setup to get the benefit in the combat phase.
  17. Thanks! Yes I guess I take longer than an average painter on an army. Probably 4 to 15 hrs from base coats to finished model. For Candyrot. Depending on the size of the model. 4h for plaguebearers, 15 for drone. The guo was more likely 40 hrs + or so. Hard to tell given I only paint 1-2hrs most evenings so things take weeks or months I can paint faster than I think I do as well, sometimes surprise myself. All Nurgle painted so far took from Jan or Feb last year until, well, now but other projects were mixed in.
  18. 2019 progress so far. Bit of variation: Prime still WIP Base done though Candyrot not forgotten
  19. Hm I think yours is better than mine against a broader field (and your 3 opponents had harder lists perhaps) than mine - and in more scenarios. Still, the Prime messes with ppls heads and is quite fun Model count is the weakness! Perhaps I'd drop Fulminators (who always fluff - somehow they do 3 damage with spears only EVER for me) for 20 skinks...
  20. What flavour of drake list did you opt for? Haha that too! Though the drake as a big big model can intimidate some I've heard
  21. Would it be accurate to say that, when thinking of a decent list to build (and models to buy) it's going to be a battalion from one of the races and then the rest of the points will be masses of grots?
  22. So the list I took was tweaked to: Allegiance: Stormcast EternalsMortal Realm: AqshyLeadersLord-Celestant On Stardrake (560)- General- Celestine Hammer- Trait: Staunch Defender - Artefact: Ignax's Scales - Mount Trait: Keen-clawedLord-Castellant (100)Knight-Incantor (140)- Spell: Azyrite HaloKnight-Heraldor (100)Celestant-Prime (340)Battleline5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield- 1x Grandblades5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield- 1x Grandhammers5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield- 1x GrandhammersUnits2 x Tempestors (220)2 x Fulminators (240)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 90 And it did great. Albeit just in a 14 person tournament. There's a lot this list can do. However I think I'll tweak it to include some skink screens and objective holders. If curious ppl should be able to check the tournament here including the lists I met: https://tabletop.to/krigsluntan-mini Edit / I note two of my opponents lists weren't uploaded to site. First opponent was: 10 bks gutrot 30 pbs Guo Rotigus Etc 3rd was: Cleansing phalanx 20 sequitors 2*5 evocators Ballista Gavriel sureheart Etc
  23. Thricefold befoulment with a bunch of chaff isn't so bad I hear
  24. would you guys go so far as to suggest dropping the incantor too? Or is the auto unbind worth it alone?
  25. Wounds there are not many of no Reason for shielded by faith is just an attempt to make the SD very scary even to mortal wound armies but I dunno. Staunch Defender is possibly still worth it. I haven't played SC since new tome (been playing with Nurgle) and haven't got any new models. Trying to see what I can do with old stuff. Perhaps, but in combination with the Prime and LcoSD? What old school lists have ppl been running otherwise?
