  1. Really cool to see so much effort put into the fluff, and for it to be so well represented in the models. Great fluff, great conversions, and great painting - a triple threat!
  2. If having the patience and work ethic to paint 80 skeletons to look that cool is a problem, that's a problem I'd like to have! Really great painting all around; inspiring!
  3. Very cool. I would like to see more Stormcast let their hair down!
  4. Great story! Dwarf Rangers were one of my favorite units from Total War Warhammer so it's cool to see them represented on the tabletop. I really like all the different names you've come up with here; coming up with good names of locations/characters/factions for the fluff of an army can be deceptively difficult. I especially like the her nickname/title "Haresbreath," clever, unique, and well done!
  5. Looks like Frontline Gaming has posted all the Firestorm allegiance abilities and allegiance compositions in an article on their site: https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2017/09/23/overview-season-of-war-firestorm/ It appears 'the only limitation is that you cannot choose named characters to be in these allegiances.' Fist of the Everchosen ability seems pretty good - "Failure is not an option: +2 Bravery and reroll failed charges for units within 6″ of a friendly hero."
  6. Anyone else notice this? The Warhammer Community announcement post said "Firestorm comes with 10 new allegiance abilities representing the unique armies of the Great Cities and those who would tear them down." But now that it's listed for preorder on the webstore for certain countries, Firestorms product description reads "There are also 9 sets of Allegiance Abilities for use in the campaign – 6 of these represent the major Sigmarite cities found on the map, with one each for the forces of Death, Destruction and Chaos. These include battle traits, command traits and artifacts of power for your armies to use." Only nine allegiances then? Phoenicium allegiance got axed? It's not listed among the nine Firestorm allegiances you can sort models by, despite the Community announcement mentioning them by name: "The new allegiance abilities are designed to represent how these cities fight; the forces of the Phonecium, for instance, are inspired to fight harder by the deaths of their comrades, honouring the Ur-Phoenix..." Also the new allegiances do actually include command traits and artifacts and can be used in tandem with another set of allegiance abilities? I thought it was just a single battletrait for each and that was it, huh. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NZ/Season-Of-War-Firestorm-2017-eng https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/09/17/firestorm-the-armies-of-the-great-cities-and-the-elite-of-the-death-guard/
  7. Now that the webstore lets you sort models by Season of War: Firestorm allegiance (thanks @DinoTitanedition!) it looks like the factions for Greywater Fastness are Stormcast, Ironweld Arsenal, Free People, Collegiate Arcane, and Wanderers. I would have really expected Dispossessed instead of Wanderers myself, just based on the couple paragraphs of lore from the first Season of War release. Especially the bit where "trees were felled by the hundred, and the region's resources were plundered to fuel the lightning-fast growth growth of the Greywater Fastness. The children of Alarielle looked on in horror at this rapacious industry, some even coming to blows with their erstwhile allies in their sorrow and anger." And the Eldritch Council are mentioned by name in the fluff on the same page but are also notably absent. It almost seems as if the factions for each allegiance might have been chosen more for rule-writing reasons than for lore reasons, and if that's true maybe including Wanderers means the allegiance will allow not just warmachines but all units a chance to shoot in the hero phase? I think the jury is clearly still out on how people feel about all these new allegiances for matched play, but what has me most excited for Firestorm is the potential for a bit more background on the mortal forces of AoS. I noticed that nine Firestorm allegiances are available to sort models by on the GW webstore right now, but ten were mentioned in the Community post. Think the Phoenicium is the absentee here.
  8. There's a couple pictures of Phoenixes in the Grand Alliance Order book, and on the back cover it even has a Frostheart Phoenix right beside an Archmage on Dragon. They definitely use oval bases in those pictures and it does look to be the same size base they used for the dragon (I think 70x105mm?), but it's a little hard to determine the base sizes of the different models exactly because someone at GW sure loves to use their fog machine.

    Nomad Prince

Awesome work! Return those abominations to the natural cycle; they are now mulch for the dryads!
  10. Can't see a pistol on her model from the angles we've seen, but according to the Blightwar post on Warhammer Community she will have a pistol in her rules for sure: "Armed with Whirlwind Axes, Neave can cut down characters in a flurry of blows, or she can weaken them at range with her Boltstorm Pistol – she’s a powerful new option for any Stormcast Eternals army." https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/08/20/blightwar-new-rules-new-models-and-moregw-homepage-post-2/ I know the 40k release schedule is looking packed, but I think 2017 isn't done with AoS just yet. They'll want to ride the momentum of this new GHB almost as surely as they want to keep momentum up for 40k 8th ed. The long rumored new aelves are sure to show themselves 'soon,' even if they do end up being 'just' a Shadespire expansion.
  11. Lol that snail shell had so many people thinking nautical themed aelves... awesome model love his casual farmer pose, and so many awesome little details.... everywhere!
  12. Personally I think it does and the fact they are on round bases now means you can see all the lovely detail of the models! I see the AOS setting as a place of almost infinite possibilities, so I think having the Empire models as Free Guild works well. This, this, and this! If each of the mortal realms are individually larger than the entire planet that was the old world, how can there be just one 'look' to the setting of AoS? There's room for literally thousands of unique cultures, who's to say at least one of them might resemble the old empire? Especially the ones who built their civilization under the shadow and with the guidance of nostalgic ol' Sigmar, and potentially in his image? History repeats itself, and the Warhammer world is cyclical, no? I understand the desire for a more 'AoS-ish' human faction though. The changes to the Rogue Idol scroll are very interesting. Love the rewrite of the 'halve damage' rule for clarification. Didn't the 'Spirit of the Waaagh' rule previously give the ability to run+charge, but had the caveat of 'this unit must charge if able?' Will definitely be looking to get that special edition GHB, however I am ever-so-slightly disappointed that the book itself seems to be the same with no new special edition cover art or such. All those doodads it comes with should be worth it though!
  13. Still no further details/pictures/price on special edition of GHB 2017? "For the truly dedicated, the Warlords Edition of the General’s Handbook is packed with extras that’ll help you with your games. As well as cards for every Battleplan in the book, you’ll be able to get your hands on turn trackers, tokens and more – you’ll be perfectly equipped for a new age of gaming in the Mortal Realms." 14. Makes sense. My guess is it goes up for pre-order the 19th, otherwise it's actually release day would fall into September right?
  15. They most certainly did, as did the eternal guard/wildwood rangers box and the nomad prince when he got reboxed a couple months ago. Not sure about the glade guard as the US webstore hasn't updated them yet but it's a safe bet. However I think I still spent close to the same amount of money when buying the old boxes and then the round bases separately (86 round bases of various sizes did not come as cheap as I might have hoped). And then there's the physical, mental, and spiritual toll of having unwittingly based the whole army on the squares they came with and then having to clip them all off and shave their feet down to rebase to rounds. Worth it though as I personally think they all look really cool on those round bases.
  16. Not a rumor but haven't seen it mentioned here yet: nearly all the plastic Wanderer models have now been reboxed with rounds and the AoS logo. The only Wanderer models remaining on square bases are the metal and finecast heroes and the Sisters of the Watch. The Sisters hardly count as they're out of a High Aelf box (shadow warriors) and as such may not be reboxed for some time, as the all the Wanderers kits seem to be the first Aelf units to get the AoS treatment. Might want to keep our eyes on the Darkling Covens as the next aelves in line? Is this a sign that we will see some more rapid reboxings for the factions getting allegiance abilties in GHB 2017?
  17. Some really awesome posing there! Love all the little details like the pauldron straps across the chest and the slanesh demon claw on the champion. Also, bare feet on lava rocks? You don't want to f with these guys. You've got a really cool army concept here. Hoplites feel right at home in the mythology-inspired world of the mortal realms, and I wouldn't be too surprised if we eventually got some sort of Greek inspired faction for AoS. 18. Wow, awesome! Where did you see this? In store? I thought the Prince was a webstore exclusive? I would be a very happy Wanderer if this meant anything new for them was coming. Wanderers rolled into an updated Sylvaneth battletome w/fluff that Alarielle is welcoming her former aelven kin back into the fold in Ghyran? Some new plastic wardancers (for Shadespire maybe)? Take my money! Take it all! Aww, would have been too cool if they were working with you like they're working with the person behind scrollbuilder.com to make something fan made official. Still excited to see what this new skirmish game will be like. This probably means some new skirmish specific battleplans from GW which can only be a good thing for Hinterlands players.
  19. Wow! Really love the contrast of the bright green Wanderers marching through snow. I'm just getting into the hobby myself (by way of Total War: Warhammer, never done any sort of miniatures before) and had a similar idea for the Wanderer army I'm piecing together. Inspired by the Beastclaw Raiders lore, I see them marching into the heart of the Beastclaw's Everwinter that has claimed so many forests to kill the first Frostlord. Spring Is Coming! Still a little nervous as I finish collecting and building and take my first steps into painting, this is great inspiration! Thank you! Great unit selection too! You get the awesome maneuverability of the Glade Riders and Waywatchers but can still castle on an objective with Eternal Guard/Sisters of the Watch. Love the 'band of adventuring heroes' feel that the Wanderers' numerous Hero units give their armies. Never would have thought of yellow for the magical fire of the Watch Bows of the Sisters, but it looks great! Seems it may fit the Wanderer color palette better than the blue carried over from their High Elven days. Incredible work on the dragon. Rider has an Eternal Guard head and shield and... Wild Rider torso?
