  1. absolutely Josh, and as it stands, you couldn't anyway, as the minimum you can get away with is a beastlord, three units of 10 gors and the battalion weighing in at 520 points. I think once again, we're seeing things that aren't really making sense *at the moment* but will do as more factions get updated and expanded on. As it stands, tzeentch wins all round as he gets the tzaangors and the ogroid thaumaturge as standard in his core army. I was hoping that the other gods would see similar blessings with the beasts release. For them also, the god mark is relative in so far that at the moment you can use it to only take advantage of an opponent sporting the mark, so beast armies with the battalion can fight a khorne army and benefit from their buffs, and the same holds true for nurgle marked armies fighting Maggotkin or sick note rats.
  2. indeed.. I do wonder if they're taking over from marauders - it makes sense as those poor guys haven't had a refresh in over 15 years model wise.
  3. So.. we need proper FAQ. Beasts of Chaos as a new Faction cannot take Blades of Khorne as allies, only slaves to darkness.. however... Blades of Khorne can take: Brayherds / warherds/ Monsters of Chaos / chaos Gargants - all now under the Beasts of Chaos banner. My thinking is that in the next errata / faq Blades of Khorne players (as will other books - Maggotkin / desciples etc) will be told to replace all of those keywords with Beasts of Chaos, which opens up the god specific battalions and allows it to make sense in the wider chaos spectrum. I remain ever hopeful!
  4. I'm going to back pedal on this until the FAQ's come out. Having opened my Beasts of Chaos book last night, I see the only thing they can ally with is Slaves to Darkness. This being the case, unless we have a rules update adding them to our list of allies, or an FAQ telling us that yes we can slot them into our army then colour me officially sad panda and my pocket as well for splurging on a lot of minotaurs! ignore this ^^^^^^^ !!!! I'm now going to errata what I've just written! So.. we need proper FAQ. I'm changing my colour to hopeful red! So the question is, do they come in as Beasts Allies and then become khorne and integrate into your army as if you'd picked them from your won book - thus allowing say a doombull general. or Do they remain allies and thus although having the khorne Keyword will not be a part of the core army choices - if this is the case, that's a bit sucky as the desciples of tzeentch get the tzaangors and the ogroid thaumaturge as part of their core army. Yes... I do want my cake and eat it.
  5. There's going to be a clarification on it, but the battalions allow you to park the beasts in the respective armies in the same way that tzaangors can slot into Desciples of Tzeentch armies. Think of it like this... If you want the battle traits, artefacts and goodies in the Beasts book, then they need to be Beasts of Chaos Allegiance and allied into the Blades of Khorne. If you want to run the khorne army as a Khorne army - which is what I do, then you pick up the battalion, fill the carrier bag with the required necessaries to fulfil the requirement and they gain the keyword to their bar - thus allowing you to play them in a Khorne army. The battalion starts as a beasts of chaos faction, but the very nature of the battalion means that it has the option to become Khorne as well. Like I say think of it like Tzaangors in a Tzeentch allegiance. You're essentially paying points to give them the god mark keyword.
  6. beautiful thing is that you purchase the battalion and given they get the khorne keyword - your lovely doombull is general material. I'd converted several of my Khorgoraths with minotaur heads so I've inadvertently gained three bullgors more pleasing to the khorne image! ( I understand this will be addressed in FAQ's as being a thing - and rightly so, I've wanted my army to follow a huge bull for ages ever since I rolled one as my general back in Slaves to Darkness in 3rd ed Granted if you want the beasts specific abilities and traits in the book then I suppose they'll need to be Beasts allegiance ) Also, that battalion, once you've paid your three units of base tax lets you bring in a khorne marked shaggoth or bray shaman as well for magical shenanigans as well with his devolve spell. we suddenly have some very heavy ranged / speedy hitters to add to the army. The cygor will be a great addition to our khorne army - the 18" boulder attack, but most importantly the amount of anti magic he has going on when coupled with other sources we have - will make us very efficient at shutting down magic heavy phases. - Again.. rightly so.
  7. I noticed this on the shadespire trailer as well. They look really good, and I'm interested to see the wizard woman and the javelin woman brought to life. With the new beasts book released as well, there is so much stuff for a really nice themed army for us.
  8. I can die a happy man!!! my dream army is now here - all I need is the lord on dragon and I'm made!
  9. didn't it say somewhere that the prime was someone who once wielded Ghal Maraz in another life?
  10. when it went out of production I did, but got the standard email response after enquiring about the confusion as well initially when it was 'temporarily unavailable' to discontinued. I do get why they did it, as it was always a problematic model for them from what I understand with respect to failure rate of casting and quality problems high. I think fundamentally Ben, now that AoS accepts FW stuff, it's not like the old days of fantasy when buying forgeworld still didn't mean you could use it at a throne of skulls for example, so there's a lot more weight behind re-releasing some of their old lines. Can you imagine how many Ogre rhinox riders they'd sell if they came back? I'd do a Beastclaw army in a heartbeat if they were returned to production!
  11. Legion of azgorh is a very forgeworld design concept, and I can see GW letting them just hold onto it. It also takes a lot of pressure off them with respects to having to write them into fluff, ghb updates, rules errata, model line and rules development etc. FW have been known to remaster or re-imagine popular models. The skullcracker was always a problematic model for them, with plenty of casting failures and issues for everyone which was right. That's a lot of return/replace to eat away at profits. If there's a big enough demand however, it doesn't mean that it won't come back maybe a little different or maybe the same after it's been studied and re-mastered to take out the original problems that took it out of production. Don't forget that the bloodthirster was over a year out of production before that came back.
  12. Especially if they brought the hellcannon back as well.
  13. talking of which, have you checked out the latest Roll Models page? There are grots on there and they've all got four arms. could be a hidden clue..
  14. I was rather hoping that FW would finally announce the khorne dragon release date. oh well.
  15. if they go this route it would be a very very old school chaos feel again - which is a good thing and a very clear separation to the armoured tin cans factions.
  16. there we are then, a new faction - the legion of Brazghor. Fiery bulls, Pyromaniac stunty sadists, pointy hats, cloven hoof nutcases... its all good.
  17. Safe to say that these are all tricks they've missed big time, especially now that the legion is gathering momentum. The skullcracker was always a pig of a model, but a remastering or re-imagining would be all the awesome.
  18. certainly me. I was about to order it the week they pulled it.
  19. we need to start pushing FW on their webpage to change the warscroll for skin wolves so they can be marked and get a god keyword. They'd sell these by the bucket load if they did that. In old fantasy they could be marked. TGA Massive.. lets start petitioning!
  20. they're good but again FW could have allowed us to mark them, then they would have been amazeballs.
  21. i'm tending to think the shard is actually more of a malerion elves release with the snippet in the new rulebook. There's a box out in there to do with the elves of the realm of shadows and talks of the elves with horns and tails, and looking at the shard model, he's quite heavily built and pretty draconic in that respect. Interesting stuff.
  22. use the hellcannon as an allied chaos dwarf war machine like a dreadquake or magma cannon. Far too nice to consign to the shelf.
  23. everything is starting to point to it in the fluff. in 40k Fulgrim is being hailed as due to return very soon as the next primarch. In AoS soul wars novel has a descriptive bit of narrative about a slaanesh chaos lord. The main AoS lore stresses how difficult it is for Malerion, Morathi and the chuckle twins to keep Slaanesh chained and on the maps in the main rulebook his location with respect to his prison is revealed, and although nothing new to us, one can almost imagine that now others of the realms know about it - so only a matter of time before the forces working to free him home in on the beacon so to speak. This hopefully should all roll into a very interesting and exciting time across both systems and my only hope is that it gets the build up that Malign Portents got.
