  1. I cannot grasp why this forum, compared to all the other forums (dakka, warseer, Bolter and chainsword, you name it), needs so much money for running it, that the owner needs to resort to pop up ads. Can anyone explain why? I’ve never seen pop up ads on any other forum, and while the banner ads are obnoxiously big, are placed between topic titles, that I can deal with - pop up ads are seriously making me considering leaving.
  2. Woohoo! Varanscribe has been updated with points costs for ALL the battletomes and allies!
  3. I'm in the process of painting my KO warband, but I haven't actually played them yet. I'm aiming at using an Endrinmaster in dirigible suit as my leader (per the GA Order book) - he's pretty expensive, but seems like a very nice hard hitting all rounder - anyone tried him?
  4. Thanks a lot! Sure thing, it is Armoured Whelks from Wyrds The Other Side. Be warned though, they are preassembled (and not very good) and made from a crappy crappy semi soft plasticlike material, that is very detailed yes, but an absolute horror to clean up. I think it took more time to clean that crab up, than the rest of the warband combined.
  5. Woo, progress! Got my first Warcry warband done, Legions of Nagash:
  6. Trying to get my The Drowned (Nurgle Daemons Warcry warband) ready for painting: I had this idea of a warband (Nurgle allegiance) made from deep sea horrors and horrible drowned zombies. Think Deepkin, but much more dark. The idea is that sailors and divers (which I'm sure exists in the mortal realms - if not, they do now) sometimes succumb to ilnesses of the ocean, like scurvy and other horrible diseases. When they do, the great father offers them the chance to be freed from pain and suffering - if only they wow to serve him in the sea. Many say yes, and plunge themselves into the sea, while wowing their pledge to the Nurgle. Indeed, the pain and suffering disappears, but so does their will and sanity. All that is left are bloated, drowned hulks of the men they were, seeking only to taint the living. They are led into battle by the Duke of the Depths, a silent knight of the ocean, carried into battle by a huge squid-beast, accompanied by horrible giant Whelks and other sea monsters. To most, they are little more than a legend that is whispered of by the campfires in the eightpoints. Stories are told of warbands, treading dry and barren earth, and suddenly finding their feet submerged in ankle high water. Through a heavy fog stumbles the rotting forms of once noble seafarers and divers, and horrible monsters emerge. Few have seen them, and fewer still have survived to tell the tale of The Drowned.
  7. Thanks! I wound up changing the octopus though, I wasn't happy with it. I am now. I also tweaked the Angler a bit, to be a bit less 2d, and added green stuff and barnacles to all the guys: ... And started working on a giant spawn for an Undivided Chaos warband;
  8. Agree wholeheartedly, and thank your for your insight. I had a discussion with a member here in another thread, that unfortunately highlighted how lightly some people take this VERY serious situation. We ALL need to take care of ourselves, and thereby each other. The key to defeating this virus is staying away from others as much as possible.
  9. This is plain wrong. While not as lethal as first thought, recent date suggests that it has a mortality rate of 0.3-1%, which is 3 to 10 times that of regular flu. In developed countries, that is. The US has shut down all plane travel from EU for the next 30 days. In Denmark, where I live (scandinavia) we have a very efficient national health care system, and our prime ministar has more or less shut down the country from wednesday this week and two weeks forward. Some of the most brilliant medical minds and health care officials all around the world are calling out for people to be very careful. This virus is already costing hundreds of billions of dollars all around the world. To say that this is hysteria and misinformation is uninformed and... Well, misinformation. I heartily encourage you to go read some real articles about this - from doctors, not pulp newspapers.
  10. Thoroughly disagree. We are looking at the one of the biggest international health crises in recent time - (recent time being about 70 years) the WHO has declared it a pandemic, elderly and sick are at severe risk, and hospitals all around the world are figthing to muster enough manpower and equipment to be able to deal with it, once it spreads to enough people. This is absolutely no laughing matter. I’ve heard enough stupid jokes about Corona to last a lifetime in the past few weeks. The problem is that humour may take the brunt out of the situation, but it also makes people take it less seriously - the post earlier in this thread, about people signing a waiver not caring if they get sick being a good example - I am dumbfounded that people will risk being infected, just for the chance to play attend Adepticon to play games. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Hi guys - been really enamoured with Warcry since it came out, but only recently (I got my first baby boy in june) had time to do something serious about it. I really like the game, and it appeals a lot to me that you only have a few models, so you can go to town conversion and painting wise. I've been messing about with some warbands (and have plans for A LOT of them), so this is a journal of sorts on my progress. First, a few warbands that I've assembled from previous projects and some new miniatures: Skaven: Kharadron: Tzeentch Arcanites: At the moment though, I'm working on a themed warband counting as Nurgle Daemons. I was really inspired by the idea of the Drowned Men warband from Wrath of the Everchosen - but more the name than anything else. I had this idea of a warband (Nurgle allegiance) made from deep sea horrors and horrible drowned zombies. Think Deepkin, but much more dark. The idea is that sailors and divers (which I'm sure exists in the mortal realms - if not, they do now) sometimes succumb to ilnesses of the ocean, like scurvy and other horrible diseases. These are all WIP obviously, but any comments and critique is appreciated. The Duke of the Depths (Counts as plague drone leader): The Drowned (Counts as plaguebearers): The Angler Mangler (Counts as allied Chaos Lord - still pondering this guy): The Crabs (Counts as beasts of nurgle): As said, comments and critique is much appreciated. Much more to come!
  12. Zombie Thread! Because it's wednesday, and I have some WIPs! I'm working on a Lovecraftian (sort of) themed Warcry Nurgle Daemons warband, The Drowned. I was really inspired by the idea of the Drowned Men warband from Wrath of the Everchosen - but more the name than anything else. I had this idea of a warband (Nurgle allegiance) made from deep sea horrors and horrible drowned zombies. Think Deepkin, but much more dark. Through a heavy fog stumbles the rotting forms of once noble seafarers and divers, and horrible monsters emerge. Few have seen them, and fewer still have survived to tell the tale of The Drowned. The Duke of the Depths (counts as Leader on Plague Drone) - very rough WIP, only started sculpting the octopus tonight - trying to work out if the eyes are a bit too big.) Crabs! (Wyrd The Other Side Armoured Whelks - counts as Beasts of Nurgle): The Angler Fish (counts as allied Chaos Lord ) The Drowned (counts as Plaguebearers) All very rough and WIP, but I like where it's going.
  13. Though I think the Warmachine game is much too vomplicated, I think the hit/wound mechanic is really elegant and clever; roll 2d6, add your melee skill to the result; if it surpasse your opponents defense, they’re hit. Roll 2d6, add your strength; for each point it surpasses your opponents armour, they take 1 damage. Though it uses 2d6 (and therefor results in a bell curve, 7s being most common), I really like it - It gives granularity, armour/toughness matters, without too many dice rolls. I’ve often thought of doing something similar with d10s.
  14. I've gotten started on my skirmish table; Preamble; I've been enamoured with 40k and Fantasy for as long as I can remember. I love the miniatures (first and foremost - it's always been the miniatures), the lore and the game... Well, the game has always been sort of a dark horse for me. I love collecting miniatures, converting them, painting them, and putting them on the table, but the game has sometimes been a bit of a chore, to be honest. I do like AoS and I have a rather large Maggotkin army, almost finished, but sometimes a game of AoS is a bit draining. I sort of lose interest when we get 2-2.5 hours into the game, and the same for 40k - though tbh I haven't played it since 6th. I still love the idea of using the miniatures to game with - so for the past few years I've been getting into skirmish (Played a lot of Heralds of Ruin Kill Team, and worked on my own AoS skirmish a couple of years ago). Skirmish ticks all the right boxes for me; fast (I don't lose interest during a game, I can get a couple of games in during an evening - a good thing with an 8 month old "Squig" baby boy), an opportunity to really go to town on conversions and paint, making a warbands lore your own, telling a story with the game, doesn't take up too much space, and much more. So, Skirmish is right up my alley. Although it is the wrong forum for that stuff, I'm also going to make some cool 40k sector mechanicus terrain to go with this table, for 40k Kill Team. Anyway; I wondered how to make a table that was as flexible as possible; I would like it to be reconfigurable in size, from 22 x 30" (std. Warcry and Kill Team), to 30 x 30" (which I'm curious to try for Warcry - I like square tables - they don't dictate the direction the battle is fought as much, imo.) 36 x 36" (for larger games) and 36" x 48" (for either two games of Warcry or a single big game). So I came up with this: A 36" x 48" table, with a mousepad battle mat on it (for now it just rests on my sofa table - I just got some legs for it from Ikea tonight - they are cheap, stable, and can be screwed off for easy storage) and some 5 mm MDF sheets cut out and laid onto it, to make sort of an enclosure for the battlefield. These sheets also function as a sideboard, which I really like having for dice, miniatures, counters, etc. I am going to spray these black, and probably cover them with black felt, so dice rolls won't make as much noise (really dislike rolling dice on the battlefield). I also need to make a frame for the table, to bump the MDF sheets up against, but I think this will work out really cool - and the narrow sheets on both sides of the table make for a nifty place to put the Warband cards. Let me hear what you think, ideas, input, critique. Full table: Standard Warcry size (22 x 30"): 30 x 30": (disregard any dust bunnies on the carpet - it's a man cave, not a doctors office. )
  15. No problem at all. The green tint is all in the Nurgling green and Ionrach skin. If you want it to be more blue, I would substitute those two colours for Fenrisian grey and Celestra Gray - keeping the Ulthuan on top. They are similar shades, but different tints: If you do this, please upload a picture - I'm curious as to how it'd turn out.
  16. That's absolutely not an annoying question - the whole point of this forum is to share stuff like this. It's not GW's recipe - tbh, I wasn't a big fan of it; the ruins seem a bit to flat and green (as in not realistic) to me (and you use SO much wash on terrain), so I set about making my own: The ruins are primed black, zenith sprayed with Mechanicum gray. Then drybrushed (top to bottom) with Nurgling green, Ionrach skin, Ulthuan gray. The greens and browns (patina) are Agrax, Typhus corrosion and green wash, very thinned down. The black bricks are Black Templar contrast. The metal is AV Chainmail, stippled with Typhus corrosion, then Tau Light Ochre, washed with AP Strong Tone, and drybrushed very lightly with Chainmail again. Drybrushing terrain is very easy, fast, and it is nice to be able to build the colour slowly. Use colour sparingly, and use a cheap makeup brush - it really helps.
  17. The cards are rules, and we’re not allowed to share copyrighted materials. They’re cheap too, so just get them - if it’s not for you, then you’ll easily be able to sell them on. If they can’t be found for sale anymore, I’m sure they can be found on the darker side of the internet.
  18. Yay - finally made a tester that I'm satisfied with. Now onto painting the entire table 😆 (I've assembled two starter sets of terrain, to get more variation, and to be able to get second floors on some of the ruins.) Also building a dedicated Warcry/Kill Team table, and playing with the thought of trying out a bigger table - perhaps 30 x 30" or even 36 x 36" - anyone has tried that? I'm making the table 3 x 4' - that way I can configure it as two regular Warcry tables, 30 x 30" or 36 x 36", and having a nice sideboard for cards and miniatures.(using some 5 mm MDF and laying it onto the table, to make that full size matt into playing fields)
  19. Thanks for the reply. However, thinking about it some more, it would still be great to have the ability to compare two different stats against the same toughness - that would be my primary purpose for the tool. I wanted to compare a Slaughterprist with axe vs. the one with Hackblade, and at first they seemed very similar, because I didn't notice the damage was vs. T5 vs. T4.
  20. Hahaha, thanks - boy, do I feel stupid for not realising that. 🤣 Again, thanks for a great tool - it's very helpful.
  21. I just found this, and it's a very cool tool - thank you for putting this up! A small question though - it would be cool to be able to see all the stats vs. varying toughness values - for example, when putting in a str. 6 weapon, I can only see the stats vs. Toughness 5 and up - it would be cool to see it vs. T 4 and below.
  22. I'm in the same situation, except I don't dislike uncovered heads) and am also looking for alternative heads. Ideally, I'd want classic flat top knight helmets (teutonic) like this: Or something like this: ... But I'm having the hardest time finding good sculpts of them. My best find so far is Puppetswar.eu - they have an okay selection, but some are kinda sci-fi, and need some modification to work.
  23. What are people planning? I have so many ideas, most are based on some couple of year old models I made for my Dark Age of Sigmar; Warband project - Warcry is the perfect way of fielding these. Big and Bad Skaven warband (Stormfiend and Rat Ogres, already have some of the miniatures built) Tzeentchian Warband (either Arcanites or StD with Tzaangor counts as Marauders - also, I need to fit this guy in:) Beasts of Chaos (probably also Tzaangors with my Tzeentchian troll conversion counts as Bullgor, with another conversion added for a Dragon Ogre) Kharadron Overlords (lots of endrinriggers/skywardens, love the models) Stormcast (Sacrosanct, changed helmets) And lots more - what are your plans?
  24. I totally get needing funds, but I really feel the google ads (or at least the placement of them) is ruining the forum. 😪 It looks bad, feels bad scrolling and the placement of them ruins the reading experience. How about contacting some of the really big players for sponsorship and banner ads (in the top)? I mean, TGA is easily the biggest AoS forum online (not counting social media) and it should be possible to get some sponsorship from some of the big online retail shops - or perhaps even GW themselves? Just a thought. Love the forum, love the community and attitude, and really appreciate the work, but really sad about the present look af google ads.
