  1. Another problem is that GoS is not only vastly overcosted for what he actually does on the table. He's also our cheapest wizard. At 140 that's quite ridiculous. I regularly spend one of my battalion's artefacts to give Midnight Tome to one of our cheap (and otherwise almost useless) heroes. Cairn Wraith is a very nice filler hero as a wizard. He's too squishy, too weak and doesn't buff or do anything usually other than giving a unit Deathless save... and just with those few 6s he hardly ever gets his points back with the mitigated damage. But as a wizard in the second line where he belongs, he's a useful addition for cheap. I just wish we didn't need to sacrifice an artefact for a cheap support character like other armies, so we're completely missing out on thgis role. The Guardian of Souls has a premium price tag and is just okay .
  2. Can you make the probabilities in the tooltip cumulative? I'd like to know what the chances are to make at least 4 damage and not what the chances are to make exactly 4 damage 😄
  3. Aproximately 350% of all 40k Ork resin models have the Captain Morgan position. None of them pose naked, which is both a shame and relieve.
  4. I don't use them as Nighthaunt anymore because 12 wounds for 210 points is not enough defensively and 12 bodies are so easily wiped out that NH never get a chance to heal them back up. And boy, do they have a target painted on them once the opponent sees what they do. For Legion of Grief however I use them in every single list. The thing about them is that their damage potential is extremely high and their damage is condensed in a very small footprint. 12 ladies are easy to squeeze in wherever you want to destroy something. So while yes, they do need support to shine, for me it's absolutely worth it just because then they deal big damage so reliably Another thing to consider is that we get more and more units in the meta that reroll saves. Mortal wounds deal with that nuisance but also -2 rend. So in that, damage-wise they serve a similar role to Spirit Hosts who are weaker offensively and with 50mm bases don't always get enough bodies to attack with in. tl;dr In Legion of Grief I actually build a whole flank around them with support like Knight of Shrouds on Steed and missing a wizard because they got denies covered. Having them unbind a spell and giving them +1attack to let them deal 16 damage on a 3+ save target is a sight to behold. Don't expect it to work twice against the same opponent though 😂
  5. I've seen the Hexwraiths one and loved the idea. As a matter of fact, I'm already entertaining the idea to rebase them. Though most other models already look very ethereal and floaty. Just now I looked through the entire NH range and didn't find a single other model that would benefit from flying stands as much as Hexwraiths... if at all. The GW designers did a pretty good job when taking units like Cairn Wraith and Mortis Engine as blueprints for our spoopy guys
  6. That feel when you check the Errata again to see if there are additional points drops and even check the Designer's Commentary for a surprise update
  7. Yeah, reminds me of all those well-meant tips that you just need to play for objectives better and whatnot. As if the other army's general cannot do that too on top of having an army that easily tables you or is nigh unkillable for you. 😅
  8. Just tried it out and now I think Dolorous Guard Hexwraiths can be used offensively too 😲 Here we see 420 points worth of Reapers (30), Hexwraiths (15) and Reapers when they have to deal with monsters or elite units where they don't get the rerolls. Combined with extra movement and the mortal wound gimmick when flying over a unit, they're surprisingly good. Someone try Olynder, Dolorous Guard and 60 Hexwraiths. Exactly 2000 points 😂
  9. Nighthaunt PDF is online. As expected, no other changes than Olynder, Kurdoss and Black Coachand it's now finally clear that Briar Queen costs 180
  10. Thanks to the wonderful tool from one ouf our forum members, we can see that the Sword of Judgement is the much better choice against monsters and heroes. But Blade of Engines makes him quite viable against everything else. Here's the damage stat against different saves if the Executioner has +2 to hit (+1 from his battalion and another +1 from either KoS or Olynder's spell) [Edit] So apparently with the Balefire Blade (+1 damage) he doesn't even need another hit-buff apart from his battalion to do almost exactly as much damage as with the Blade of Endings. So it's not worth it to take the Blade of engines because it needs an a buff on top of that and locks you to a realm that you might not prefer otherwise.
  11. Off-topic but I just found out that in this forum the number of reactions you can give per day are limited. So yall who posted in the last few hours feel liked. Here's a substitute reaction ❤️
  12. That's kinda half-assed though 😅 Clearly they don't mean a 170mm round base as implied there, but the standard GW 170x105mm oval base. Anyway, kinda excited to play more against LoA as a friend of mine is assembling a lot more as we speak. My Nighthaunt already have a terrible track record against those little ankle chompers 😂
  13. It's from the website The Honest Wargamer
  14. I also like to try and stay positive. But some competitive NH lists going down 20 points isn't even good when looked at in a vacuum. Though many other armies went down too and most often considerably more, so this is a net nerf for us. Even if we weren't bottom of the barrel Flop-5 it would still mean that we face slightly more efficient armies more often. The only positive thing I see right now is that Skaven got actual nerfs. Several units got up 20 points where everyone else stayed the same or got points reduction. That's a double whammy right there. Their mortal wound output is a pretty hard counter to our good save but low-wound army. And them darn rats are legion... if they get less prevalent in the competitive scene, this alone will boost our win-rate
  15. A typical competitive Fyreslayer list looks like this in the battleline department Converted to two times 20 Berzerkers they're going down 160 points. How can you possibly call that a nerf? That's one free hero with points to spare or another min-sized objective holder unit and still more points. As a NH player, I'd kill a mortal for that kind of treatment
  16. The average Fyreslayers list will drop 160 points! Heck, with Arkhan getting cheaper, there will be more Bonereapers list dropping by 20 points than Nighthaunt lists. Nurgle getting 60 points drops for every single battalion and Slaves to Darkness getting a new Battletome... it's getting lonlier way down there where we are and will remain for quite a while. 😱
  17. Meanwhile 20 Hearthguard Berzerkers dropped from 480 to 400. Let that sink in!
  18. Lady Olynder and Kurdoss down 20 Briar Queen 150 (had never changed in Azyr even after GHB 19) Black Coach 220 That's it. This is a nightmare. Seeing how other armies got points reductions for more essential models this is technically a shadow nerf for us. I am speechless and will check several times for more updates. It's too hard to believe honestly Edit Little spec of hope. Dolorous Guard and the other new battalions aren't in there even though in warscroll builder they showed up since yesterday. So it might not be fully updated?
  19. Legions of Nagash one is online... in japanese 😱 Arkhan, Manfred and Neferata all cost 340 now. Morghasts back to 200. Nagash down to 850. NONE of the Nighthaunt units like Hexwraiths, Tomb Banshees, Cairn Wraiths etc that were in that book received any changes. Oh boy... Can it maybe be that they finally give units points costs depending on which army takes them? So Morghasts 210 for Bonereapers, 200 for LoN and Nighthaunt just everything -75%? 😭
  20. If you take Lady O and a generic hero as general with The Ruler of the Spirit Host, you force your opponent to make a tough call. Go for the hero that keeps on reviving frigging Spirit Hosts/Hexwraiths or go for Lady O who's going mental on the front? Speaking of Ruler of the Spirit Host, resurrection becomes more powerful the smaller sized the games are. In a 2000pts game, it's a tiny percentage that's being brought back on the table. In a 1k game, it's not only a larger share of your points, it's also harder for the opponent to kill enough as they don't have several units all ganging up to completely wipe them out. In 40k Necrons benefit greatly for the same reason in anything less than 1.5k. And that's also what makes Olynder's 7 wounds tankier and her self-healing much stronger. Meanwhile many other armies struggle with the opposite. Slaanesh's, Khorne's, Tzeentch's etc. summoning really suffers because they don't get enough heroes, units or wizards to greatly benefit for their summoning points. And they're still among the priviliged who, over the course of the game, basically play with more than 1000 points because a dead unit isn't just lost as there's more to come later. For most other armies a unit getting depleted -even just a little- by Spirit Hosts while they keep coming back, get more and more of a disadvantage over the course of the game. So yeah, try Lady O and maybe the Spirit Torment as general with Ruler of the Spirit Host. He can bring back a Spirit Host or two per turn and his own ability can either heal him or Lady O or revive Harridans. 10 Harridans are perfectly fine as your opponent won't have many more bigger units and Harridans can chew through those chaff units. When it comes to artefacts, we're really spoiled with choice. Try out the Ulgu-artefact "Betrayer's Crown". Your Spirit Torment will accompany the Spirit Hosts and they cannot deal with hordes. This once-per-battle artefact will deal 1/3 of the unit's size worth of mortal wounds to them before they can even attack. An artefact that's quite strong in small games and reduces the threat of a bad matchup for your "Spirit flank". Midnight Tome is also nice because now you'd have 3 casts and denies that you can pack full of defensive spells like shademist, spectral tether and soul cage.
  21. Totally agree. Tournament play is very different from regular casual play. For tournaments, you have one list that will fight against many different armies. So preferably every single unit needs to perform well in a variety of situations. Meanwhile in casual play you usually know your one opponent you play and in such a setting, very specialized units like Bat Swarms are extremely good!
  22. New FAQs are rolling out right now. Just checked the german site and they uploaded the italian version... the usual hickups shortly before they release everything at the same time. The only change for Bonereapers was to include "untill the end of the phase" for Arch-Kavalos Zandtos' command ability. I can totally see some pleasant players using it once and keeping it for the rest of the game. 😂
  23. That's not how rules work. You cannot possibly go into a rules argument with nothing but an opinion and demand everyone to abide to your point of view. And my understanding is that relic asked here not to get even more opinions from both sides but a rules clarification. If I had that unit, I'd ask in my local meta how we want to play it. Nothing I found in the core rules, FAQs for the rules and FAQs for armies with similar abilities mentioned a fringe case like that. PS: Personally I too think it should be played like the different abilities in that it will always trigger no matter what as to not nerf it. But that's just like my opinion, man
  24. Can you point out where in the core rules or FAQs you found that? I've searched everywhere but didn't find anything. I even looked into units with similar abilities like Wight Kings or Ghorgons, but they usually resolve immediately after the attacks have been made and therefore this special case never comes up.
