  1. If you nail the charge to get the D3 hoof damage and spend the command point for +1 to hit, you should be able to wreck some righteous carnage on SC units given the weapon rend. And they'll have a devil-of-a-time hurting you btwn Grotesque and the Armor.
  2. I agree. Make Taur'ruk general with Grotesque and the Armor of Bazherak and watch him mow their lines down. My last 1K match, he scythed through two units of Sequitors like so much wheat.
  3. I'm in an escalation league so my next list is gonna be 1,250pts and I'm just adding some Fireglaives. But for 1.5K-2K, I'm running the Train with two Magma's and a Deathshrieker.
  4. Yeah, BCR kinda suck. Even Shar'tor isn't that great. I only ever use Taur'ruk -- he actually hits like a tank! I'm going with the Artillery Train and dropping the Blackshard Warhost.
  5. Battalion question: I am building out my list for a 2K tourney and have the models necessary to build both the BSW & HWAT but not enough points to carry both. I'm leaning towards the War Train as that Infernal Engineer buff is pretty sweet and would allow to bring a ton of artillery. BSW feels slightly redundant to me as my battleline units already carry the +1 Bravery Icon. I also don't really want to carry the Castellan or Standard Bearer when those points could go to more K'daai or more shooting. Thoughts?

  7. I voted Tomb Kings BUT only if they are completely re-designed from the ground up, which is unlikely to ever happen. Also, the models are out there, they have warscrolls and points, just go play them if you like them.
  8. Don't Wanderers hold close to a 50% win tournament win percentage? Can't remember where I saw that but I pretty sure I saw that somewhere.
  9. Well, I came last but had fun at the 1K tournament none-the-less. Played three games vs. Fyreslayers, Bonesplitterz, and Stormcast. Took a major loss to the Slayers, partly due to being unprepared for their new Tome buffs but partly due to poor deployment on my part. They chewed me up and that's that. Took a major loss to Bonesplitterz, Took a minor loss to Stormcast. I was well-positioned to win the game but we ran out of time. This was the only game where I felt the true potential of my LoA list as I nailed all my buffs and showed decent tactical play. Taur'ruk alone wiped out a unit of Sequitors. And I rolled hot with my Daemonsmith -- Blood of Hashut is awesome! With practice I can see this being a really strong army. I am pleased with them.
  10. 1K tournament is tomorrow, set in Ulgu, with hidden agendas. I'm feeling pretty solid about my list. Made a last minute decision to break-up my Fireborn to give me more movement around the board so I can compete for objectives faster.   11. Further armor questions: If Taur'ruk wears the Armor of Bazherak, he can't also wear the Blackshard Armor, right? Is that also true for the Daemsonsmith's Ensorcelled Armor?

Ignore modifiers (positive or negative) when making save rolls for attacks that target this unit. That means they ignore rend, right? And their save roll is always 5+? (which is a weak save) -- do they wear the Blackshard Armor? Is it worth dropping 1 unit of Fireborn to bring a Chaos Sorcerer Lord to buff the other 2 units? (never mind, puts me 20pts over)
  13. I've used sticky tack to hold the riders and wings in place for games but am thinking of switching to magnets.
  14. Ungor Raiders are awesome. Especially if run in the Desolating Beastherd battalion. Ran 40 and shot my opponent off the table.

Should I drop Shar'tor and just run more Fireborn? I also picked up two rules questions: 1) Artefact: Armour of Bazherak the Cruel -- is this a second save against all wounds or rolled on a per wound basis? 2) Does the Blackshard Armor count towards MW as well as regular ones? Wording is vague.

  18. Excellent point. Though at the point cost to field Shartor, I'd rather take more infantry or artillery.
  19. I'd be wary of taking Shar'Tor The Executioner. He can be pretty fragile and while his MW output is helpful, it is inconsistent. Tauruk tends to hit harder, more consistently. At least in my experience. I've only played him twice and both times, he was quickly killed cuz he stands out on the battlefield and will be immediately targeted by your opponent. He should have 10W at least, not 8. EDIT~!: He is fun to paint tho
  20. 1x Daemonsmith, 10x Fireglaives, 1x Magma Cannon is a great start for an escalation league! Plant the smith behind the cannon to buff it while the Glaives advance and fire. As your points escalate, work towards the Blackshard Battalion. Painting them is super-easy if you prime them black and base them red (or any other color you desire). Here's a photo of my red ones: I plan to add some bronze highlights to their armor.

  22. I think Dispossessed should have the ability to tunnel once per game in the Hero phase, moving a unit x number of inches across the table as a way to add movement. The idea that they could disable scenery is cool too.

Instead, this happened: Beasts of Chaos: 2,030 pts 2x Beastlord, 2x Bray Shaman, 10x Gors, 10x Ungors, 30x Bestigors, 40x Ungor Raiders, 6x Bullgors, Cygor, Ghorgon, Endless Spells Legion of Azgorh: 2,630 pts Shar'Tor The Executioner, Bull Centaur Taur'ruk, 2x Daemonsmith, Castellan, Standard Bearer, 40x Ironsword, 40x Fireglaives, Magma Cannon, Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher, Hell Cannon, Iron Daemon War Engine, Chaos Sorcerer Lord Order Draconis: 2,000 pts 2x Dragonlord, Dragon Noble, Archmage, 40x Dragon Blades Seraphon: 3,850 pts Lord Kroak, Slann Starmaster, EotG, Astrolith Bearer, Oldblood on Carnosaur, Scar-Vet on Cold One, Sunblood, Starpriest, 5x Saurus Guard, 70x Saurus Warriors, 15x Saurus Knights, 30x Skinks, 5x Chameleon Skinks, 2x Razordons, Stegadon, Troglodon, Dread Saurian I had to promise myself, and my wife, that I wouldn't buy any more models for at least a year, which is fine. I have a lot of painting to do! Haven't photographed it all but here is a small sample of what I've painted so far.
