  1. Yeah exactly. I don't get why people think they're due for another huge wave of releases. They could make each of those kits a battleline unit (maybe depending on your "stormhost") and Slaves would be one of the most versatile and excellent looking armies around. The variety in body types really sells their aesthetic theme. People talk about a re-release of older kits like marauders but I built 40 marauders recently and I honestly don't get what the problem is. They look miles better than some models that still see regular use imo.
  2. My money is on a Tzeentch book either this year or early next year (their release schedule could easily have gotten delayed along the way) because all they need is a terrain piece, endless spells and some warscroll/allegiance tweaks. People are getting hyped for a big StD release, but I'm not letting myself get excited until I see something definite. I think StD are equally as likely to get a Cities of Sigmar style book that cleans up their warscrolls and gives them Stormhost style allegiance abilities themed around each of the 4 gods and 1 for unbound chaos. As for Endless Spells and Terrain, they could just use the terrain and spells of the 4 gods in their allegiance. If that's the case, both Tzeentch and Nurgle would probably get their books first so they can incorporate everything into the StD book smoothly. Don't get me wrong, I'd be overjoyed to see a big Slaves release that gives players loads of new toys, but if you set yourself that expectation you're more likely than not to be disappointed.
  3. Lots of people do use plague monks. They are excellent. Advantages to the marauders are 1) they're battleline where pl;ague monks aren't and 2) they have the mortal keyword so can benefit from different buffs like gaining a 5+ after save from harbinger. They're both valid picks.
  4. For now yeah unfortunately but they'll release grashnak's despoilers separately in a few weeks.
  5. I came here to talk about this and you beat me to it. Could be an amazing ally for a blight king list. The 7 to cast is a pain, but all of our stuff is 7 to cast with no buffs already so *shrug*.
  6. I never really minded the whole "if you can see a heel or a sword tip you can shoot" thing. Arrows arc in the air, they don't shoot straight like a laserbeam. Also, archers weren't usually picking off specific targets like legolas. They would just blanket an area with arrows and the enemy would find it very difficult to avoid. You can make the case for a difference between units and heroes aiming, but man lets not bloat this any more than we need to. That being said, if the target is obscured you should shoot with a penalty. I'd say a rule like "If a 1mm line drawn between the shooter and the target crosses over any part of a piece of terrain which is closer to the target unit than the shooting unit, you get a penalty to your hit roll." I definitely don't want to be faffing around with anything too complicated. It's hard enough to finish a game within the time limit as it is for lots of armies. This would let units use terrain as cover, while still being able to shoot out and it should be fairly quick and easy to tell how many models in a unit are shooting with a disadvantage using only a tape measure or a range stick.
  7. If you want to go nurgle mortals, I can't recommend the harbinger of decay enough. His command ability increases the tankiness of mortal units by loads. Hes an auto-include for any mortal centred list
  8. Good work man! And thanks for the battle reports. I'm setting myself a challenge of getting 40 marauders from un-primed to fully painted this weekend, can't wait to unleash the Marauder/Blades combo myself! Is there anything you'd change for next time now that your list has been tested? How did the epitome perform for you?
  9. I can't wait for some more detail about the Cities battletome to come out so I can read another 3 pages of discussion in this thread about what it means for Tomb Kings.
  10. I would love that. There's no need for every general to also be their army's greatest warrior. I'd love it if this guy was a hero whose presence on the board buffed his army significantly, but didn't offer a threat by itself. Sort of like Epidemius for Nurgle.
  11. The article mentions adding Daemons to your warband. Excited about that!
  12. I'll be rooting for you! Which list are you taking? Hope your epitome makes an appearance, love how it turned out.
  13. I live in the UK lol. Would love to but it's a little out of my price range. I'm going to spend the week churning out more blightkings and watching the coverage, hopefully!
  14. Chaos Marauders have the potential to get a +1 to hit when they pile in because of an ability on their warscroll. That makes them decent recipients of the blades of putrefaction spell. No way to buff blightking to hit though sadly.
  15. GW customer service is kindly sending me a replacement sprue for the stone head because a part was missing, so I will be really lucky to get a second chance to glue it together without having the gate attached. I wanted to shout out the good support. But still, people reading this who are gluing the kit together, make sure you check the waywalker article first so you don't make the same mistake!
  16. They've added it to the waywalker post since. I made the same mistake. Sucks but oh well.
  17. This end piece on the head platform. Some of the cards have it there, some don't so you should avoid gluing it in place if you want to use all the cards the game comes with. I didn't realise and I used plastic glue so im not going to bother ruining the whole thing by cutting it apart again.
  18. The terrain in general seems to not be very well co-ordinated. The terrain in the starter set has instructions to build, but they don't match the layout cards and it instructs you to glue together some pieces that should be left unglued if you want to be able to use all the cards. I followed instructions online to match the cards and still managed to glue on a piece of wooden wall that needs to be removable, despite instructions in the box saying otherwise. On top of that a part was missing from my sprue! So far I've found it all pretty frustrating. I strongly believe that the terrain layout cards are going to be ignored by most players and they will just set the terrain up however they like most of the time. You really have to be careful not to mess something up when assembling the terrain, so most players won't have cards that match their kits.
  19. Just bought a couple boxes of Chaos Marauders and was surprised that they had enough parts to construct 5 drummers, 5 bannermen and 5 leaders per 20 because of the way the sprues work. Judging by the warscroll you can only have 1 leader, but there doesn't seem to be anything preventing you from taking multiple drummers and bannermen, or from having both types of bannermen in your unit. But that means that you could conceivably have more special models in your unit than regular models which seems totally wrong to me. Is there an FAQ or something I should be aware of before deciding how many special models to construct? Can I have both banners? Are my models likely to be invalidated by a new battletome if they get one? Edit: Thanks for the replies! I'm going to play it safe and build 1 command group per 20 to keep them future-proof.
  20. Finding it really hard to stop myself from buying 40 chaos marauders :') I keep telling myself there is likely to be a new united chaos mortals book and maybe even new sculpts but... they're so juicy when buffed and would fit in my list so perfectly...
  21. Wow, very nice! Can't wait to see this whole thing painted.
  22. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't matter who sets up the scenery. Once it's on the table, all scenery is neutral. There wouldn't be "enemy gnarlmaws and friendly gnarlmaws". There would just be gnarlmaws, providing the same benefits to both sides at the same time. You shouldn't consider the scenery models of any faction as an "enemy" model for the purposes of summoning, setting up, teleporting etc unless it's warscroll specifically says so. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  23. Damn that's a great idea. I have some spare shields knocking around, I should do that too!
  24. My collection of paints has grown quite large and no longer fit in the box I was using before. What do you guys use to neatly store and organise all your paints? Ideally something that takes up more vertical space than horizontal space.
