  1. I want a Gitmob Grot army. Wolves and wood. Snotlings and sneaky stabby goodness
  2. Wargaming is really a composite hobby: collecting, assembly/modeling/conversion, painting, gaming, competitive gaming, planning, storing, consuming lore, writing lore, homebrew, club organization, content creation, content consumption, etc. If you're a collector, having a closet full of unopened boxes isn't necessarily a bad thing. I don't know when I'll get around to painting my unopened Dreadfleet box, but when that day comes it's gonna be lit!
  3. Warhammer Fantasy Slayers are evocative, dynamic, narratively interesting, and visually distinct. Fyreslayers are unimaginative, miss the point, don't have good story hooks and look homogenous. The only thing that got me through Realmslayer was how much verbal hate Gotrek could pile on this ill conceived faction.
  4. Syar is great, but Zaitrec with the Twinstones is a nice way to ensure your spells can get off reliably--good to see you're sticking with that great nation. I like to use offensive spells like Darkness, Lambent Light or whatever to draw out dispel attempts before casting important spells like Speed of Hysh. By my reckoning, movement is the most reliable phase of the game, and since our main battleline unit isn't optimized for charging, we can depend on it more and capitalize on it. As we can use magic to augment our movement, I reason that there is utility in making that component of the strategy as reliable as possible--without taking Teclis, of course. The Lumineth aren't seen as a fast army, but we certainly have the tools to mitigate this and control the field nonetheless. I like to equip my Sentinels with Speed of Hysh to help the two units of Wardens screening them advance quicker over time. While Speed is a "wholly within" spell, I haven't really had trouble ensuring the target unit is eligible. I see in your most recent list you do the same. If you're up against DoK and Cities, where there can be a lot of single wound models, Dawnriders are outstanding. Solar Flare on Dawnriders can be pretty fun if they can get behind the enemy line near their wizards. More generally, they make excellent scenario pieces: outside of getting the charge, they can inhibit enemy movement as a mobile speed bump (one which can annoyingly stay in place with Cathallar shenanigans), or help to contest objectives. I frequently use a unit of 5 in a daisy chain formation--forgoing the Shining Company benefit--to hindere enemy access to objectives early in the game.
  5. Wow, everyone's armies are so inspiring! I moved to a different state and only recently got my hobby desk set up. First unit of 2021, and it's also in the gw catalog lol
  6. Greetings, Having solely used Vanari thus far, I'm trying to get my Alarith components assembled and painted in time for the Hurakan. Having never used Stoneguard, I was wondering how players have been using theirs? I have 20 Alarith to play with and generally wan to do 10 of each. I guess my question is this: should I model 1, 2 or 3 dual hammer models, if any? I have a wide variety of opponents so I want to model for versatility. I'm thinking: 1) 10 each of the picks and mallets, 2 Seneschals 1 with pick, 1 with mallet 2) 10 each of the picks and mallets, 2 Seneschals with Stratum hammers 3) 10 each of the picks and mallets, 2 Seneschals--one with Stratum hammers, the other with pick or hammer 4) 10 each of the picks and mallets, 3 Seneschals all with Stratum hammers 5) 10 each of the picks and mallets, 3 Seneschals, 1 with Stratum hammers, 1 with pick, 1 with mallet Thanks
  7. I'm thrilled with the direction they're taking the lumineth. I don't see how the new releases invalidate the old releases. What on earth suggested that the mountain spirit was going to be the only elemental spirit that was animalistic? I'm thrilled to buy BR Teclis. It's a snapshot in time, just like the first battletome. Is it really a given that the new battle tome will come out before third edition? Mind you, I'm not a GW fanboy; I've come around after playing Warmachine and Infinity for twelve years purely to collect, paint and play Lumineth... So perhaps I'm biased in being an old school Asur player, but I'm happy the Lumineth are their own thing and not simply 32mm High Elves. It sucks people feel misled and cheated, though. I just don't understand letting a toy manufacturer getting you riled up.
  8. In 2020 I painted a full 75 point army for Warmachine before the Lumineth seized my attention and demanded that I procure and paint the army of my dreams. Thus far I am almost done with my first 1000 points, and hope to complete all variants of 2000 points that I want to play (about 2500 in all). After that, I'm going to go back and pick up where I left off painting my Warhammer Fantasy Waaagh!.
  9. Well I painted another ten Wardens so obviously I had to do a group photo.
  10. What an outstanding force of Lumineth! Truly inspiring. I suspected a true Syar army would have a Roman Praetorian look to it. Do you have more pics of Eltharion's cloak?
  11. Lumineth. You should buy Lumineth. That way GW doesn't think they don't sell. Then we can get more stuff. EVERYBODY WINS.
  12. Herein I recount a serialized version of events that occur on the tabletop between my Lumineth and my friends' armies. Nestled in the hinterlands of Syar, the Ymurica Prefecture was once a verdant bioluminescent forest home to the myriad designer flora and fauna developed and cultivated before the Spirefall. It would be hard to recognize its past today when looking upon the plains and scattered glades which span from mountain to sea. The ruins of great estates dot the land, connected by largely overgrown porcelain roads. Revenants of the Spirefall stalk the lands--aethyrquartz fueled biogolems, predatory plants, chimerae and creatures of chaos. While the ancient forests had long been rendered to ash, the flowing Faelthan River still irrigates this incredibly fertile land. In recent centuries, several noble houses have reestablished themselves in their ancestral estates. Establishing orchards, vineyards, plantations and nurseries, the returned houses of Isilien, Morvaelar, and Aleroth have prospered as they restore and cultivate the land. The Wyrmclaw Company is a composite paramilitary host comprised of Vanari Wardens, Sentinels and Dawnriders. Drawn from the ranks of the three houses and their vassals, there is a serene--if intense--multilayered game of intrigue eternally at play within the Wyrmclaw Company. The young and ambitious jostle for position with the wise and grizzled, either striving to earn a name or to preserve one. Nevertheless, when the lands are threatened, the Wyrmclaw act as one to swiftly and mercilessly put down any threat to their domain. Usually, such threats manifest as incursions of fell creatures and abominations which have persisted or even thrived since the Spirefall. While most such threats only require a limited response, such as a company of Dawn Riders or Sentinels, others such as the Felsprites of Vileoak, or the arcane automata of the Eldritch Lord Khal’theranas, required nothing less than a full muster of the houses to repel, exterminate and purify. Lately, troubling reports have begun to come in of skirmishes erupting with cave dwelling grots and their monstrous beasts, and even the passage of a malign celestial entity bearing the likeness of a mad moon. Perhaps drawn to confront his ancient nemeses, the Light of Eltharion has also been reported coming to the aid of these beleaguered outposts. Even as the Gloomspite threat has begun to abate, rumors of a plague in the south have begun to circulate. The Scinari Cathallar Ashlarana Morvaelar has been tasked with investigating these rumors, bringing with her a retinue of Wyrmclaw Regulars. Her first port of call is the hamlet of Anreth, a recently resettled vineyard from which a procured bottle of wine proved not only foul, but tainted with chaos. It is imperative the Cathallar swiftly ascertains the nature and scope of the threat.
  13. I recall encountering an inverted irregularity in the manual. That may have been it.
  14. I don't yet have fluff for my army, since it hasn't seen much battle. However, I've been taking scenic photographs of it as it grows and, in a way, a story begins to coalesce in my mind.
  15. I am absolutely blown away each time I come back to this thread!
  16. I had the same idea with Eltharion for the exact same reason. Given my main opponent plays Gloomspite though, and given Eltharion's ancient hatred of greenskins, I decided that Eltharion will categorically not be a fixed part of my "army," but rather a hero come to smite his ancient foes. I'm just about finished with Realm Lords. What did you think of it? I like it so far, but I can see where it's going...Nevertheless it really helped to flesh out the Lumineth in my mind, which was perfect.
  17. Flying isn't an issue for me. I magnetized and use an oven tray. I plan on getting a tupperware box to hold the tray for car rides.
  18. Finally got around to painting the lynchpin of my army. I really need to come up with names and fluff to flesh out my army.
  19. That looks awesome! The army definitely has a very cohesive feel to it. The use of green, blue and red elements gives it all a solid color balance.
  20. One of them actually did break, but fortunately it was in one of those conical segments so there was sufficient surface area for a secure reattachment. I also broke a pike in transit before the army got magnetized. I've a feeling i'll need to buy a spare box of wardens and riders to accommodate battle damage over the coming years. I'm all in on this faction though, so I don't really mind. I thought buying 2 of the starters was baller, but apparently you got 3 you absolute madlad.
  21. As an avid collector of models from the turn of the millennium I've been agonizing what to do with my Mordheim Skaven! Round bases do look good, but I also want to be faithful to the period.
  22. Great looking riders you got there! This is the best thread in the whole forum, imo
