  1. Cannons went down to 140 in the GHB B)
  2. Palanquin dropped a whopping.... 20pts to 300.... Sigh. Though with cheaper Blood Knights could be some combos. Mannfred dropped to 380, as did Neferata. Seeing the page Vargheists are definitely Battleline for Soulblight. Court of Nulmia Battalion went to 150 (up 40) ...lol. so wipes out the savings on Nef and the Palanquin?! Was it that good?!
  3. For 200pts, in Legion of Blood that is insane power. Four 3+/3+/-1/D3 plus horse attacks per knight. -2 to bravery. Blood Feast them and just straight up tear anything apart. Average of 12 damage against 4+ saves before horse attacks but much more potential to swing though.
  4. Big if true. Massive. I'd probably run something like 3 Vargheists, 5 Blood Knights, 10 Blood Knights for battleline.... For about the same price as 3x5 Blood Knights now!
  5. 200PT BLOOD KNIGHTS!!! That is now insanely good value. Units of 10 seem perfectly viable as ultimate bully.
  6. In legion of sacrament, do the Nighthaunt heroes that are part of the LoN army list (via FAQ) gain a spell from lore of Necromancy/ Vampires? Or do they just gain the casting benefits?
  7. Those cards look HELLA fun. Imagine having a shared deck and drawing them one at a time or doing it at an event. Utter MADNESS.
  8. I'm sorry, but ten (or if they add more) twenty options of specific units with some most likely lacklustre special rules really aren't enough to fully cover weaknesses - especially when limited to 400pts and potentially gibbing lists by removing the first command point. Most of the current mercenary companies aren't even useful or viable in a hyper competetive setting where the balance matters most: Sons of the Lichemaster - maybe the best one if you take a big block of skellies and a necro, even then they are hardly as out outside of LoN. Grugg Brothers - cheap-ish behemoths with OKAY stats. Most armies have better and more synergystic ones anyway. Order of the Blood-drenched Rose - surprisingly decent, but easily outmaneuvers and very vulnerable to rend. Also overcosted, especially outside of allegiance. Nimyard’s Rough-Riders - ....lol. Maybe some use in their mobility but little more than a distraction. The Blacksmoke Battery - The one everyone is talking about. Covers the biggest hole in non-ORDER armies where shooting is mostly rare. Solid but still only two cannons and a copter or one cannon, one organ gun and an engineer. Warmachines also VERY weak to having crewmen slain. Skroug’s Menagerie - less info than others, but most likely garbage. Rampagers - if they had guaranteed 6" move could be meta defining as a screen. Instead they could move 1" and be a total waste. Cheap though! However most armies have hordes built-in or as allies without CP consequence. The Gutstuffers - If your army has no heavy infantry, could be decent fast bully unit (run & charge with re-roll to charge) but unsure if worth a CP... Best you're getting is 4 Ogors in matched play... The Fyreslayers and FEC mercs are probably better because of the sheer freedom they bring, though I doubt we'll see more like this and I expect them to be heavily FAQ'd in light of the overwhelming responce to double Archreagents.
  9. To add to the PL thing, I played exactly one game with PL when 8th came out... Then started using points again. Some armies are just BROKEN with PL...
  10. I do agree, but, this is MUCH more limited than 40k (especially the likes of Imperium or Chaos). They don't get allegiance abilities, artefacts etc You give up a command point The units are specific and set - you might luck out and get something to cover a hole (like Death with some Artillery) but at 400pts it's not a lot Maximum of 400pts in Matched Play Also eat into your more versatile Allies points
  11. Sadly the max you can get is two cannons and that doesn't leave enough for an enginner (which really helps cannons). However a Cannon, Organ Gun and Engineer is doable and then things get nastyyyy Assuming 400pts allies limit and no changes to points!
  12. I love 30k Zone Mortalis so the city stuff sounds ace!
  13. The unit sizes are also designed with the boxes of models in mind. You buy a box, you get a unit. Maybe not all the specific tiny options but you get at least one of every model to make a playble unit. I also think it makes list building a lot better, as it becomes less about "Do I take 3 extra guys or upgrade this weapon" like in 40k to having actual decisions where you are playing with larger blocks.
  14. Mortis Engine kit has three Vampire ladies all plastic. Pop them on something floating and they look the part. Otherwise I used a Ghoul king and the small wings from the Vargheist kit. They aren't battleline for anyone. They come from Allies allowance and cost the 1st CP of your game.
  15. No.... They are 100% Matched play legal. Just like the Forbidden Power Ones.
  16. Pretty much all Death. While they have strong magic, there is basically no ranged outside of some breath weapons on dragons and bravery dependant screams etc. I know I'm very interested in some firepower for them!
  17. ARTILLERY FOR DEATH!!!! Organ Gun, Cannon and Engineer is a solid little detachment for some ranged threat. Sadly two cannons and an Engineer doesn't fit the 400pts allies limit (unless we see changes in GHB19). The Skeletons/ Zombies might hilariously be useful for even LoN too, all the buffs from the book affect them and they get permanent +1A, which usually costs a command point... For only costing your first CP. Otherwise, Giants are a fun Behemoth.
  18. It was a reply, his Warscroll is in the GA:O book, not the GHB. I agree, he is strong - but Eldritch Council are hardly a fully supported army in terms of rules currently. That's all!
  19. I always aim for 95%, probably just a few bases or some highlights missing. My armies will always be at least base colours, a wash and some technical paints for flair. Games just so much better with paint!
  20. Death get Artillery now. I'm stoked. Also GIANTS!
  21. Legacy model in that the Blood Knights are supported in a 2.0 battletome, with a fair few rules written around them whereas the Loremaster is only in the GA compendium. Ogregut has the right idea!
  22. No I think they're specific units. The forbidden power ones prevent certain units from FS / FEC so just restrict it in the reverse.
  23. Not one bit really. The old lines of factions are a lot more blurred these days. Vampires are mostly independent if they aren't direct agents of a high power (Neferata etc) and like the article says, there are a lot of Dead in Shyish that are part of mortal civilization, or who's to say a cunning Necromancer has promised an undead legion to tip the scales in battle for a fair price. The Mortal Realms are a very forgiving place lore-wise, it's what makes them so cool! Your specific example of a Loremaster is an unfortunate one, but let's face it, Loremaster is a legacy model with a spell that is probably a touch too versatile for play outside of Grand Alliance Order. Yes the old rules were any ORDER WIZARD but the design of the game has certainly changed.
