  1. Khemists are their other specialty. They are merchants first - hence "the Market City". The reason why they have advanced Khemists, is because they are so money-grubbing and greedy that their Khemists are obsessed with squeezing every last drop of profit out of their bounty. Quoted from the book- "It is said that bartering with a trader from Barak-Urbaz is more treacherous than navigating a shoal of stunfish. Barak-Urbaz is the most cosmopolitan of the sky-ports, and its citizens pursue profit with unmatched zeal"
  2. No he was right - Urbaz is the "merchant" port. While Nar is definitely the largest and most influential, Urbaz is renowned for the negotiating skill of their merchants. Nar was the port who got extra relics during army creation.
  3. False. Frigates have always had the role of "ships of the line", and in the lore have been described as the ubiquitous workhorse of the KO fleet Gunhaulers are flying artillery pieces, hired out to support the main fleet. Battle Line is completely inappropriate for them, aside from perhaps a few themed battalions or sky ports.
  4. That's right - forgot about those guys. Honestly, anything instead of Dakka is something that I'll try, lol
  5. I suppose that this community spoils me a bit, but it seems like just about every other AoS or 40k forum out there is a toxic cesspit of ignorance and negativity. Are there other GW gaming forums out there as healthy as this one? Or is this sort of a lone bastion of manners and positivity, lol?
  6. Perhaps, but there is quite a bit of difference between what you describe, and "GW HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!"
  7. Brokk is a named character, so of course he looks better. He's supposed to. The new Endrinmaster looks pretty boss though, as well. His multi-arms are awesome looking - especially since even the pistol arms double as tools. One arm has a Vulcanizer, which is what the KO use for welding things. Another wields a Rivet Gun. Cool stuff!
  8. Exactly. He has the same TYPE of abilities, but they are massively expanded. BTW - the range on his storm is actually 36 inches, I believe
  9. You cannot be so obtuse as to not understand that people were hoping for at least a terrain piece or something. Quite frankly? It sucks that none are apparently forthcoming. Yeah, the line is still as badass as it always was. But why is it so hard to understand people's disappointment? It's going to last for like sixty seconds, and then people will get on with their lives
  10. Well I'm sorry that hearing negative opinions makes you grouchy, but here's the deal. None of us were playing KO because the rules were so awesome. Most of us were playing KO because the models were so badass. Now, we've gotten our one big shot to get new models in 2nd Ed, and we've just found out that only a single (hard to acquire) character model is probably our only new model...is it any wonder that many of us are unhappy? It's great that we've got a chance at having good rules, but things are a bit of a let down right now. Maybe try being a tad more sympathetic, ok hoss?
  11. Normally I am pretty chill about such things, but I have to say that I am pretty darned disappointed about this. Of all the armies, Kharadron terrain has the potential to look incredibly awesome.
  12. Maybe some mirror shapes could be glued into Citadel Woods, instead of the leaves. Mirror-leaf trees for added craziness.
  13. I feel like it'd be pretty easy? My current thoughts are... 1) make a funky shape out of foam 2) use hot glue to cover the thing in crumpled up tin foil, just to get a cool surface texture 3) prime and drybrush the tin foil-covered surface. Maybe a greenish gray color? 4) cut out a ton of triangle and rhombus shapes from the mirrored cardstock 5) the shapes have been cut with scissors, so I'll take a black sharpie and darken all the white edges. 6) glue the mirror shards all over the terrain piece. I am thinking they should look like some sort of funky abstract Tim Burton shape with mirrors. Might look cool
  14. Many times they drop previews of upcoming armies in Sundays. Not sure why, but that's just a thing.
  15. Probably not much without losing the mirror shine. I'd be willing to sacrifice the green tint in favor of the mirror effect. Either that, or they do make those sheets in different colors. There might be one that matches better
  16. While I dislike the Underworlds game itself, I really love Shadespire - both the novel and the setting as a whole. So much so, that I find myself thinking of different ways to build some customized terrain for it. To build a Shadespire board, I am thinking not a few things. First, I could use the War Cry ruins, as they look particularly appropriate for the crumbling grandeur that is modern-day Shadespire. Second thing is that we need the quintessential Shadespire feature - mirrors. I figure I could buy some of this stuff... And cut into fragmented glass shard shapes. Glue the shards onto some creepy Tim Burton looking shapes, so that they cover the entire surface, and scatter those around the board. I'm not sure if that would look cool, or crappy
  17. Haven't read the whole thread yet, so this has most likely been brought up at one point or another, but for what it's worth... The main problem that people are having with CoS win rate is that a huge contingent of our players don't really WANT to play Cities. What they really want to do is to shoehorn their Dwarf army (or whatever) into AOS, and are using the Cities rules to do this. I am not going to be so arrogant as to say that if you are playing "mono-race". you are playing Cities the "wrong" way. But the whole theme/narrative/play style of Cities is where a bunch of races come together as a team, to fend off attackers. The book wasn't written as the Duardin battle tome. Wasn't written as the Aelf battle tome. Not the humans, or anything else. It's the Cities battle tome. In short, if you stubbornly stick to one single Cities race, you are ignoring one of the major advantages that was built into the book, in the first place - flexibility.
  18. As the rules stand, the all-rifle version of the Grundcorp are definitely worth taking. That being said, the Grundcorp are one of the units most folks expect to see have big changes in the upcoming book, so...standby.
  19. It's less about how our Special weapons, and more about how Khemists work. Personally, I would love to see Aetheric Augmentation go away, and replaced with an equally useful ability - but one that doesn't encourage horde army tactics (ie - 40 Arkhanaughts with Sky Hooks)
  20. Even right now, in our crappy state, we still have pretty hard answers to many of the current meta's boogymen. Its not going to take much to get us into the competitive level
