Gorkamorka is scottish
Hi guys just a quick question but i wasn't a 100% sure if it belonged here or in the painting/modeling threads. Anyway I love the gore grunta models, well the riders at least but i hate the horrible looking boars/gruntas that they ride. What i wanted to know was would the mourn fang models fit the grunta riders?
Sangfroid
The riders legs are part of the sculpt of the pigs, it's a shame as while I like them there would have been scope for loads of conversions
Gorkamorka is scottish
ahh that sucks. Ah well maybe i'll grow to like the sculpts.
Zen
Have you actually seen the models in the flesh though? I was in the same camp as you - I thought the pigs looked kinda stupid on the box, until I saw them assembled and got to hold them. They really are quite cool looking models, imo. Gorkamorka is scottish
I haven't i have to admit so i hope i have the same experience as you as i was hoping to have a few of them in my force. My main issue with them is all the fur/hair under the chin but maybe with some clipping and a little green stuff i can sort that myself.
Vasshpit
I agree the design of the beasts are taken a little too far. For me it's the spikes on the heads and spines. These are just silly looking and the lower jaw is just too much. I enjoy fantasy but grounded in anatomical reality. I've got plans to bring them more in line with an actual boar using green stuff but those are down the line. Mournfang are close enough in size but it would probably easier to put a brute in the saddle as someone mentioned earlier the legs are part of the gruntas torso. Warboss Gorbolg
The GW paint scheme is awful as it really highlights the grunta-beard. Alternative paint schemes that blend the beard look much better. I did not like these models either initially but they've grown on me. Now I only wish that they did not have any choppa-teeth, but I understand that beating metal into stuff is part of the Ironjaw fluff. Check out the grunta on the GW site with the red rider as it blends in better. Using darker fur colors helps the beard "disappear" even further. Gorkamorka is scottish
It might just be me but GW recent molding methods (is that right?) have kinda limited conversion opportunity's with the models basically being one solid piece? Anyway what about replacing the gruntas head?

I've noticed this. It bums me out, and is a reason why I avoid Ironjaws. Once you have five brutes, you've pretty much exhausted the pose options. And don't get me started on the megaboss. Fielding two of them looks super ridiculous.

I have 30 painted Brutes, all individual. Granted, I have dipped into some other kits for heads etc but I'm super happy with the outcome. But I do kinda agree, people do mistakenly think there are more options in boxes now due to parts, but with fitted joints (as opposed to ball joints or old skool flat connections) it is much harder to repose models. Fitted riders to mounts always annoys me as it does kill conversion opportunities either way (new mounts for the riders, or new riders for the mounts). Cutting Warlock legs away from their steeds was one of the most tedious conversions I ever did!!

Gorkamorka is scottish
I think this is what im going to do. See what they are like when i have them in hand and paint one up. Like is said i can always file and cut lol. I think with orc, ork, orruk models its easy to swap heads, arms weapons IMO that's the beauty of the range even if the new sculpts are a little fixed. The legs sculpted onto the mount just doesn't make sense to me though. It still believe the orc boar boy models are better than the gore grunta ones. Lucio
The head is an easy remove, hacksaw across the back of the neck, and replace with a Mournfang head and plenty of Greenstuff.

Chris Tomlin
Oh wow, that's super cool! Great work that man....why have I run out of likes!! As a side note, I am now inexplicably the owner of 18 Gore-gruntas.
LortOlle
That might be overkill Though 6 units of gore-gruntas and a Gordrakk Would be a stupid but fast army. You only have points for one gorefist though so you have to pull them into at least one unit of 6. Then you can use the last points for a warchanter but that will slow the army down so I'd just leave the last 100 points for the underdog bonus. You should take that to a tournament
Anaticula
I have been painting three GGs for the last four weeks now and I am so fed up with them. Honestly, they were a pain to paint, but now they are done and I am quite happy. Great models imho and useful too.

Gorkamorka is scottish
I've tried this in the past, the only problem is 9/10 the bits im looking for are sold out I will try though i am determined to assemble this army and have it as unique as possible, every model with personality. I have mentioned in another post that i have fleeting fancies and not a lot of time to commit to my hobby so i hope if i throw myself into this project 110% I will stick at it. Thats probably why i will be a regular here popping up every so often with annoying questions and threads.
