Stormcast Eternals 3.0 - There is no "a" in Vindictors

On the warbringer versus vindicators debate, CW’s re-roll is the entire roll right, so could actually give you a worse result?

is there anything stopping taking a hammers of sigmar named character with a stormhost other than hammers of sigmar? Except for the fact that certain abilities on a warscroll may not work because they the HoS keyword.

Interesting is, unfortunately, about where it stops with the stormhost-locked named characters. I'd say the majority of them have no real reason to take outside of their locked stormhost since they're usually built around a specific keyword based ability. Bastian is a maybe since he at least has no unnamed equivalent to give you the same core stats but you're probably overpaying for him without the free command and move. The only named character I can think is an obvious pick over the generic outside of their stormhost is Neave because she is significantly better than the generic Zephyros for the same points.

Yeah you can to be fair, and any other Hammers-locked characters you happen to bring. You're just not getting the full benefit of being able to command anyone on the board from anywhere once for free.

Yeah true.

i want to take Bastian but feel things like Fulminators are somewhat wasted in Hammers compared to Vindicators or Warbringers. Tricky!

I like Hammers Fulminators because of battleline.

I have little to no points to spare and having either a required battleline AND hammer unit or just another battleline for „hold the line“ is quite nice!

I might go for Vendetta and make Bastian the general as he is pretty tough to take down and killing the enemy general should be possible.

Losing the general trait is not that tragic and by preserving Bastian you also deny kill the general tactic and secure +1 CP from General being around.

I‘d go for Tome + Thundershock on Imperatant to debuff the enemies line.

Quick rules question:

If I'm playing Scions and I have say 5 units in deepstrike, and 5 in a unified battalion to place on the table, do I still have to go back and forth with the opponent in drops even with the deepstrike units or would I one drop my battalion and then say the rest is in reserve in order to have a one drop?

Each reserve unit outside a 1 drop battalion is it's own separate drop.

So if you have 5 units outside a battalion and 5 in a one drop battalion, your list is 6 drops, regardless of which units are in reserve and which are not.

The people who cried about translocation will now have to face stormcast gunlines and fulminator/drakes all day. I bet they are very happy.

 Hello Everybody,

I will attend a Tournament in December. 1.500 Points and no "God Tier" allowed (so no Teclis, Gotrek, Morathi, and so on).

As of now I only had 3 Games in AoS3 and one Game with the new SCE Tome. I struggle to come up with a solid list due to lack of experience and because I can't decide what to bring. 😅
The Tournament is not super competitive (from Dads for Dads 😉) but I still like to give a challenge.

Battleplans are:

Savage Gains
The Vice
First Blood

This is my List so far:

Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals
- Stormhost: Hammers of Sigmar
- Grand Strategy: Hold the Line
Triumphs: Inspired

Leaders
Knight-Incantor (125)
-
 Spell: Thundershock
Lord-Imperatant (175)
-
 General
- Command Trait: Master of Magic
- Artefact: Arcane Tome (Universal Artefact)
- Spell: Celestial Blades

Battleline
4 x Dracothian Guard Fulminators (460)
-
 Reinforced x 1
5 x Liberators (115)
-
 Heavens-wrought Weapon and Shield
- 1x Grandweapons
5 x Liberators (115)
-
 Heavens-wrought Weapon and Shield
- 1x Grandweapons
5 x Judicators with Skybolt Bows (200)

Units
3 x Annihilators with Meteoric Grandhammers (240)

Additional Enhancements
Holy Command: Steadfast March

Total: 1430 / 1500
Reinforced Units: 1 / 3
Allies: 0 / 300
Wounds: 75
Drops: 7

Fulminators and Annihilators as Hammers. Liberators to Hold Objectives and Judicators for some shooting. Lord and Incantor for Buffs and Magic.
What are your thoughts? Are 4x Fulminators too much? Too few Heroes? What Regiment (might take the "OneDrop" one)? What to do with the 70 Points that are left?
Models wise I have more or less everything available except Vanguard units.

Every Feedback is welcome. Thank you!

I‘d go with onedrop and leave 70 pts open for „Inspired“ Triumph.

As long as Fulminators and Annihilators hit their targets at 1500 w/o godlevel heroes you should have won.

I‘d take „Call Aid“ over Steadfast March though for more Board Control if your Liberators bite it.

Hope you‘ll rock it - make them fear the Hammers of Sigmar! 🔨

Thanks for your feedback. Sounds a little bit like 4x Fulmis and Annhilators might be overkill at 1.500 Points... 😅

Tiny tweak that I might suggest is switching Celestial Blades onto the Knight Incantor and Thundershock onto the Lord Imperatant just because the extra range is much more valuable on an area of effect spell cast by a model that effectively has a larger base. Unless you were primarily wanting the Imperatant to be using Mystic Shield, making it more reliable with Master of Magic, in which case I would probably keep Celestial Blades on him because you're gonna want Thundershock more often I think.

I'd go with crossbow Judicators over bows. They'll do a better job clearing screens for your Annihilators if you bring them down together.

I agree with Dogmantra on spell choice. I'd have the Incantor buff the Fulminators while the Imperitant either comes down with the Judicators and Annihilators (If Lumineth Sentinels/Foxes or Thunderbolt Volleys are a concern) or casts a mystic shield on the Fulminators and follows behind them.

So I have my first in person game tomorrow, possibly against Nurgle, and I'm trying to finalize my list but not to just specifically fight a certain army. I don't have any Dracoths. I'm thinking either to go Celestial Warbringers, or possibly Knights Excelsior depending on the list. Both would be Scions and both probably Pillars of Belief for the Grand Strategy.

For CW I'm thinking:

Leaders

Lord Imperatant

Knight Incantor - Celestial Blades

Knight Judicator w/Grpyh Hounds

Lord Relictor - General, High Priest, Mirror Shield

Units

2x3 Annihilators w/Grand Hammers

3x5 Vindictors - Battleline

1x6 Vanguard Raptors

If I went KE:

Leaders:

Lord Imperatant

Knight Incantor - Celestial Blades

Knight Vexilor - Meteoric Standard

Lord Relictor - General, High Priest, Mirror Shield

Units

2x3 Annihilators w/Grand Hammers

1x3 Annihilators w/Shields

2x5 Vindictors

1x6 Vanguard Raptors

I would take Thunderbolt Volley with both. I'm not sure if I should go for a true one drop, or go for another artifact/holy command.

Apologies that I accidentally posted only half done!
