Custom Scenarios, Games and Quests in Aos

Recommended Posts

As the title says, I was just thinking that it would be really cool if we invented some scenarios (narrative, matched, open), games (something like  Gorechosen, shadespire) and warhammer quests (like those ones in WhiteDwarf)

Mu main idea is a bit like Gorechosen, you get loads of Tzeentch sorcerers (preferably mortal) + any other WIZARDS, and you put them in an arena, maybe invent custom rules and stuff

maybe something like necromunda/mordhiem on a 3d board

let me know if you have any ideas...

Actually, GW always encouraged that, even if not that successful or elaborate :) the idea is great, but can take hours on end. But, for instance, I have some ideas for my future scenarios when I finish painting my current miniatures, and one of them is my favorite - it's about recovering some artifact by a small group of warriors, like an archmage with swordmasters. You must capture and extract a valuable item, all the while fending off constant attacks by not very powerful but numerous enemies that will constantly reappear after their defeat. LIke zombies or goblins, Also I like the idea of a series of battles leading to some results, like several clashes that depend on each other. For example, if you lost your hero in a fight, you will have to carry on without him, or if you lost too many warriors, you will have lesser number of them later, and so on. Something like that :)

It'd be more useful imo, to compile a list of mechanics to use in building a scenario, each with some suggested "trappings"

One of the best RPG systems I've played, Savage Worlds, encouraged a seperation of mechanics/game effect from how it was described. For example, a magic bolt spell might be a fiery missile or a shard of ice. The former might have chances to set things on fire, whilst the latter could be improvised to make something slippery but ultimately, they had the same affect to models in the rules.

For AoS then, we've seen a variety of rules and options, what's your favourite?

I am sure there will be a 'roof runner' game, or whatever they are called from the fluff in the hammerhal set. Some sort of AoS gang thing where gangs fight among the rooftops of cinderfall, although it would need to differentiate from necromunda. Perhaps models have free running abilities and the map is small rooves and spires but no walkways. Models needs to swing or jump to move across the map, one wrong move and you fall to your death. I can imagine a checkerboard of rooves, with chokepoints etc

Or a dark future type game, but instead it is chariot/mount races- Ben hur meets AoS .  It's a race, first to finish line wins but everyone has weapons, skills etc. Mount and rider can be upgraded over the 'season', get new skills and equipment.

How about sky battles, flying ships from the different races battle it out in the sky's over the realms. Could be a bit like x wing. Models are smallish, have cards for crews, captains, ordinance etc. Couple with different missions e.g. Escort your carriers across the map etc and loads of crazy AoS things - Flying Fortress for example. Could be lots of fun.
