  1. I did buy a Dominion box, mainly to sell off the minis to get a free rulebook, and hopefully pay for a GHB too. But looking at the Kruelboyz, I like their spiky goblin vibe, like the ones from the movie Legend. I might end up keeping them, especially if they can ally with my Spiderfang and the Troggoth guy can ally with my Ogors (cuz Troggoth). Their poison shooting seems excellent too. If I played Stormcast the Annhilators would be in every army list for sure. As for why Dominion isn't selling, it's probably resentment and wallet-fatigue, for leading us through the Broken Realms series, and immediately after Kragnos, BOOM new edition where none of the battalions and stuff from those expensive books (and exciting White Dwarf rules) is usable. I agree with another post that they should've waited a year, let people get some games in with the recent 2nd edition rules, and then next year unleash 3.0. The kneejerk reactions to coherency and reinforcement is premature however. Unleash Hell I don't think will be as big of a deal as people think. Just take a single speedbump, charge it in, and it either dies or uses up the CA, or prevents that unit from Unleashing more Hell if it survives into 3" of the shooty unit. EEZY PEEZY! That's what a Chaos Spawn or Khorgorath or Skar Bloodwrath is for
  2. Guess we have the Skull Cannons ....they're not super awful, but they need to be like the Ironblaster and have a closeup shotgun type of ammo, or rerolls to hits if a hero is nearby or something. But alas, no flying, except Bloodthirsters (furies don't count). Valkia needs a flock of her own; I could see her coming up in the ranks to fight the likes of that new Stormcast archangel lady. I'll just take 2 Khorgoraths. They're pretty solid. Maybe a reinforced unit of 2.
  3. Looks like there's maybe a universal artefact now that could give a hero a 5++, though that would prevent the Gorecleaver-lance from happening. Who thinks we'll get a new Khorne tome this year? I'm thinking it'll be next year as we're last on that daily 'how's your army faring this edition' series.
  4. This is gathering steam in my head: Goretide 165 Korgos Khul 135. Mighty Lord of Khorne 125. Bloodsecrator 85. Bloodstoker 630. 3x10 Blood Warriors (2 units w gorefists, 1 w double axes) 410. 2x5 Skullreapers 110. Khorgorath 200. 2x Mindstealer Sphiranxes Not the most super powered army but if the cats can do their thing turn 2 after positioning whilst a Vanguard lets Goretide Blood Warriors run and charge to speed bump somebody (Goretide BWs can do that right?). could drop the Khorgorath in this build for a slaughterpriest and net another battalion. Guess going for the extra enhancements is the way to go?
  5. And if you go Bloodgullet the Butcher could cast his spell AND the Gravetide, or Mystic Shield, etc.
  6. Murderdog! That will be it's name henceforth. I'd love to start list building but too early I guess. There will probably be some rules in there that haven't leaked which could affect things....like maybe they're adding the who-can-attack to be similar to 40k, thus avoiding the horrible coherency actions of 10 32mm based units.
  7. Looking to add a monster or two to my Khorne Mortals. The Chaos Lord on Manticore seems like a good hammer (with a lance); would it be dum to take a Slaughterbrute along with him? Are those just so terribad they should be used for conversions only? They don't look great on paper but maybe with the new monster rules?
  8. Excellent points, I'm gonna bust him out and paint him soon. Skar Bloodwrath too. He can score us a Blood Tithe, pop up later to score an objective unsuspectingly, and die again to score another Blood Tithe point....rinse and repeat.
  9. Suffocating Gravetide? Wow, that used to be almost the worst spell. It's good now?
  10. Except for Plague Priests. They're the same. Except hordes won't be as big to plague as much. I'm expecting the Mindstealer cats to have the same rules but not be a Monster anymore. Hope that slips under the nerf radar.....seems like they want all Monsters to be Behemoths. Shaggoth is a Monster too but not Behemoth. Fomoroid Crusher, possibly a couple other things but can't remember what.
  11. The Taker Tribe is certainly looking good to me. I think with the All Out Attack, Heroic Finest Hour, and Titanic Duel, Gatebreakers don't need the Fierce Loathings as much. My Kraken-eater can double as a Warstomper, but those two list options above are pretty awesome! I'll need to make another Kraken-eater or Warstomper and magnetize the weapon on one of my Gatebreakers. The CA from the Stomper Tribe are pretty darn good to make the Mancrushers work, and another mega can use the CAs from the universal list for the best of both rulesets. Magic will be a problem, namely some of the endless spells. I read somewhere that Soulsnare Shackles will be preventing charges, and Geminids will stop CAs from being issued or received by units? I thought models could move through endless spells now though, but can't have their bases on top of them. At least that's something, but still those could be maneuvered to prevent big giant pie-plates from maneuvering. (kind looking forward to trying a 3 endless spell army out using my Spiderfangs vs the SoBs for practice 😛 )
  12. Think of BloodWarriors as tarpits now who can just take the punishment while dishing back MW on 6+ to saves, but even if they can't save it on a 6+ they get to pilein and attack when they die (peel them off from the ends to maintain coherency). I just bought a bunch of them on a whim cuz they were cheap, and Flesh Hounds were expensive. But we'll get a new tome someday soon anyways I think. Are we sure Slaughterpriests got nerfed? I haven't seen a rule that says Priests can only pray 1 prayer. I've seen a rule that says they 'can chant 1 less prayer' if they decide to dispell an Endless Spell or uninvoke an invocation. Also since they're calling out invocations as separate from prayers, they can probably pray at least 1 and invoke a Judgement of Khorne. Not ready to say they're garbage now. My Beasts of Khorne are more sad, as they are just beasts now, who already sucked. Sons of Behemat and Ogors (except Gluttons) are pretty happy though. Not sure about Spiderfang as I just bought them too, didn't get the tome as I expect that'll be sometime soon also, plus they're not even all assembled; at least they have some monsters. I wish Khorgoraths were Monsters again; they used to be. Gotta ally in some Mindstealer Sphiranxes, that'll be what makes my Khorne army tick. All the feeble mortals striking first with their rubber weapons.
  13. Ummm, hmmmm, I can't think of a good reason for that. Maybe they were too cheap before? Ignoring battleshock is good.
  14. I like the MW bouncing speedbump for Mournfangs. They're good for filling out a battalion now, basically like they were before too. And model diversity is nice to see on the table sometimes. They can always retreat if the Ironguts catch up and need some space to get in there.
  15. I've been toying with this idea as well. However I don't think the giants feeble wizardry is reliable enough to warrant a Lifeswarm attempt. I want it to work but just don't think it will. List a) seems the best. Kragnos at least can do the damage of a Gatebreaker reliably, just gotta be more choosy about targets. And I think he can still be 'behind terrain' for a cover save now and get a +1 to save or something, mitigating rend a bit on the way in. Taker Tribe is nice for the extra objective control, though Stomper Tribe could help you out by bum-rushing those Mancrushers in for an alpha charge plus beaucoup damage; plus the model tossing of the Warstomper That sounds pretty fun actually. I'm gonna try that next time I play.
  16. I used my Gatebreaker Tribe vs FEC on Saturday; and the big boyz were victorious! We used what 3rd edition rules we could muster, namely the Core Battalions, Battle Tactics every turn, Monster stuff, CA limits and the new CP generation and new CAs. I had Gatebreaker (Louder than Words, Bossy Pants, Portcullis), another Gatey, KrakenEater, and 2x1 Mancrushers (and the new points costs, had some left over but oh well). He had 2x20 Ghouls, 6 and 3 CryptFlayers, foot King, foot Arch Regent, King on Terrorgheist, all in 1 drop army. Old mission on 6'x4' table, Total Commitment. He let me go first and the Kraken Eater kicked my back center objective forward, since we now contest objectives for units starting in range of them, so that's nice. He and a Mancrusher approached the center of the table. General Gatey went up the right side towards his bone throne near the two foot heroes, nearly killed one with 2 boulders, and then killed the one with monster stomp or crushing charge (forget which) and then clobbered the other one along with half a ghoul unit, but rolled a 1 to smash the throne. Ghouls got in like 2 wounds. Lone Mancrusher scored my right objective. Bottom of 1, he moved up 6 Flayers with Terrorgheist to my Kraken Eater and Mancrusher, took both down about half. Feeding Frenzy limited to once per turn is such a relief! FEC players disagree though He got top of turn 2 and finished off my KrakenEater and center ManCrusher, and this turn we remembered to do Battle Tactics and he picked the Monster killing one (duh!). His 3 Flayers charged my general Gatey but neither they nor the remaining ghouls got to attack cuz they got squished by him. I scored his back center objective bottom of turn 2 and got my battle tactic of taking over an objective that he controlled. Then I got turn 3 priority and rolled in with my general and only rolled a far enough charge to get to his remaining central Crypt Flayers, failed to Crushing Charge it, but the pile in let me swing into the Terrorgheist and clobber that to death. He conceded after that. I found a terrorgheist head in a bits box at my FLGS for a trophy! The SoBs have earned their place as next on my finish-painting list.
  17. Only 2 attacks on the Gargant Hackers though, but yeah those tusks certainly help make up for it on the charge. Hmmm, all my Mournfangs have clubs cuz of the ol' Eurlbad. Dang it.
  18. Very similar to what I was thinking. I might do 2 Skitterstrands though to get a Linebreaker battalion. Hmmm, a Vanguard might be good for Spiderriders....isn't there a spell or effect to make them run and charge? The Vanguard nets them a 6" run with a CP needed.
  19. The HoSH is good if you have Mournfangs. The extra damage on the charge is pretty nice, and with an All Out Attack, those tusks get scary. And even at a reinforced unit of 4 they still only need 1" of coherency.
  20. There’s a 3k event in September in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA called the Brew City Brawl. I’m considering running the SoBs with Kragnos there. With the new monster rules and CAs and hero abilities I’m thinking the Breaker Tribe isn’t as needed for Gatebreakers. Leaning toward Taker Tribe actually for the extra model count on objectives since enemy models will be counting for more in some cases in 3.0 rules. 490 =Kraken Eater General 1575 =3 Gate-breakers 695= Kragnos 170= 1 Mancrusher Not sure about artifacts or ‘enhancements ‘ yet, waiting for the new rules for those. I would just need to make 1 more Gatey. I like their rend and boulder throw....the bossy pants for those sniping weak enemy heroes is pretty nice though. Any thoughts ? I could run my Ogors: 2 Frostlords and 3 beastriders on Stonehorns backed by 3x4 Ironguts and a butcher and 2 Slaughter-masters. But....they might be too tiny. Also I’m thinking the total scoring model count would be 90 or 130 for the Sons vs a mere 80 for the Ogor idea.
  21. Just hoping that if a Megagargant is the General, can it still count as a battleline? If so that's awesome because I got Kragnos hoping I could run him with my Sons, and since Kragnos is dropping to 695, I can fit him in with 2 Gatebreakers and 1 Mancrusher; which would give 3 battleliners.
  22. I'll be testing the new rules as we know them so far tomorrow with my all Gutbusters (or maybe a HoTT to try the priestly class). Vs Blades of Khorne. My initial thoughts are to put the Gluttons in a Vanguard, and run them up as a screen early on. Then the Ironguts and Leadbelchers can be more choosy about where to go coming up from behind. If I take Alvagr Ancient on the HoTT near some Ironguts where I think a heavy hitter will charge, then that's a good chance the Ironguts get to eat first. My friend is a skilled player, but not too much experience with Khorne. Luckily I have plenty of experience playing with and against Khorne. Skulls for fiber, blood to wash it down.....
  23. All I would ask is that they let him go over models with 4 wounds or less because he has a leaping horse body. A big bumbly megagargant can step over them, so a giant horse should be able to jump over them. But I am seeing more potential for using Kragnos now with the slight points drop and all the CAs in v3.0. And I also missed the Battleline role of Megagargants now....that bodes well for running him and 2 Megas plus 1 or 2 Mancrushers in 2k, if the Mega general can also fulfill a battleline role at the same time?
  24. Well I didn't think Bullgors or Doombulls deserved a points increase. But maybe it's cuz of that +1 to hit CA? Which all armies can get? But still I'm glad we can get a hit buff easily now! That helps. Dragon Ogors certainly didn't need that though, they still are underpowered. And Ungors?!? Gonna make a nice shelf until we can give the Beasts a Mark of Chaos.
  25. As usual with my stock picks, I got 33 Blood Warriors recently. I thought they were very cheap, but then the SCE opened an investigation and people dumped many units of Blood Warriors onto the market and their value went down. But as they say, when there's blood in streets it's time to buy! Still a good screen and battleline; their Gorefists give them MW when they take saves, and they pilein and attack when they die. Good to peel those ones off the back ends then for that, making them a counterpunch unit.
