  1. I would love a new Warhammer Quest in AoS. My friends and I played the entire campaigns of Silver Tower and Shadows Over Hammerhal. We felt Blackstone Fortress was dry and stale and did not finish the campaign (although I loved the models). In a hypothetical return to AoS, I'd love new models like Silver Tower but would also want to see a departure from the Blackstone Fortress mechanics.
  2. I'm painting Mollogs Mob and having a lot of fun with it. I'd like an excuse to paint more Troggoths. I have never played Gitz in AoS before. What would a Troggherd list look like? I recognize this may not be competitive.
  3. I alsp wondered why he didn't have a goatee as the most "obvious" way to make him evil.
  4. @Emmetation is there a release date for the PDF of the GM screen? I'd love to get more lore bits like the adventure hooks.
  5. One of the things about a tabletop rpg is that you can modify the setting and lore as needed for your table. While it's harder for an established setting like AoS, I've changed minor details around in published RPG settings forever. The nature of the sun is something you can set for your table as you believe is correct - it's unlikely to have an impact on play and the stories you tell.
  6. My favorite series would be anything with the Hallowed Knights, especially the Steel Souls. There's a few Realmgate Wars books, as well as Plague Garden and Black Pyramid. Although each story stands alone, I'd recommend going reading from their early adventures in the Realmgate Wars. Favorite standalone novel would be Shadespire. Honorable mention for Warcry anthology. Warbeast is a popular recommendation. I liked it but did not love it.
  7. Just finished the Warcry bell tower! I tried dry brushing some additional colors into the wood to create more variation and like how it came out.
  8. Sure! The beastman was my favorite model in this set. Some gors have human-like skin tones, but I decided to do something different. That said, the actual color recipes are pretty standard. Skin is Mechanicus standard grey, nuln oil wash, dawnstone drybrush and layer. Fur is rhinox hide, agrax earthshade wash, doombull brown drybrush. Horns are zandri dust base coat, agrax earthshade wash, ushabti bone drybrush. Do the drybrush heavier towards the tips. For your army, you could try doing a blue wash instead of black on the grey. The rhinox hide + doombull has an orange/red tone that contrasts nicely with blue, but isn't overpowering.
  9. I like the description of the city and the adventure! I'm looking forward to being able to incorporate more high fantasy elements like that into the story.
  10. I've finished several Spire Tyrants as well as some more WarCry terrain. Should have another terrain piece and hopefully some more models done this week. Looking forward to being able to play Warcry when this is all over.
  11. I'm very excited for the RPG launch! I plan on DMing. I think my players want to run an all Knight Questor group since they love the Knight Questor in WHQ.
  12. I would not use a layer paint in place of primer. I'd recommend just waiting until you can get more Wraithbone if matching the color using Contrast is your prederence. Alternatively, you could prime with a different spray and then paint using traditional paints.
  13. I've been using the extra time to steadily work on my backlog. By my count, I have about 100 unpainted Games Workshop models and over 120 unpainted CMON models (Cthulhu Death May Die, Rising Sun). Luckily, I stocked up on paint so I should be able to go for a few weeks of painting. So far, I've completed quite a bit of terrain from the Warcry set. I'm working on the Spire Tyrants now.
  14. Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to try shading over. Attached picture is what it currently looks like with the ironbreaker over the iron warriors + agrax earthshade.
  15. Hello! I am working through my painting backlog during the ongoing social isolation. I painted the iron chaos symbols in the Warcry terrain set with the color "Iron Warriors" and shaded with Agrax earthshade. I like the resulting color but I am having trouble highlighting it. I'd normally use Ironbreaker but it is too much of a difference with the dark iron color. Do you have any recommendations on how to highlight metal painted with Iron Warriors? Thank you!
  16. The followers of Khorne run blood drives with the goal of collecting "blood for the blood god". They also sign people up to be posthumous organ donors, specifically to donate "skulls for the skulls throne".
  17. I can definitely see that some pieces are from the Dominion set, but there are some pieces that do not belong to any released set. For instance, the pillars used are not from any kits that I know of.
  18. If you look in the photo for Cities of Sigmar, there looks to be new terrain (Sigmar walls and gate).
  19. I think some of the newer lore has done a very good job of balancing the high fantasy of AoS with the grim dark of Warhammer. I just finished "Black Pyramid" by Josh Reynolds. It features a sea of sand where hordes of zombies buried in the sand become a "reef" and a threat to those sailing alongside a beastman who talks to ghosts. It also has a group of Dwarves who chant the names of the fallen while manning a gun line and Freeguild mercenaries who squabble for coin. By mixing the two, you get the raw creativity found in AoS with the emotional core provided by the more human characters. Notably, it also goes out of it's way to humanize the Stormcast, who are still angelic heroes, but experience doubt, exhaustion, and have their own personality quirks.
  20. Looking at how the candles line up in the rumor photo compared the video, the order of the candles is reversed. This would imply that the rumor photo is the front (assuming we are looking at the back in the video). Or that the rumor photo is the back if we are looking at the front in the video.
  21. Hello! I'm using Contrast heavily to paint the Untamed Beasts from Warcry. I plan to do highlights and touchup with classic paints after the contrast. I'd like to varnish after the contrast is done to give me a stopping point so I can play with them while not worrying about the Contrast rubbing off. Is it possible to paint on top of the varnish (munitorium spray) using the regular citadel paints? Thank you for your help!
  22. To me, it seems like a lot of the warbands merge design motifs from multiple gods. For instance, Iron Golems use both Khorne design (red and brass) as well as Nurgle (closed helms with holes like Blightkings). Corvus Cabal have both Khorne (blood and severed body parts) as well as Tzeentch (birds). From a lore perspective they each worship unaligned Chaos through their own understanding, like the Norsca in the Old World.
  23. Nail polish remover (acetone) works great for metal minis, rubbing alcohol for plastic.
  24. Let us know how it goes! I have plenty to paint without stairs so I'm going to come back to them later this week.
  25. Thanks! I'm now considering if I just want to glue the stairs to their proper areas. I dont like the idea of setting up the terrain to have it fall down mid game
