  1. I kinda like things are a whole phase that are smaller bonuses. I'm guessing AoS will have 9th ed 40k Bravery where you test, then lose a model for each 1 you roll if you fail your bravery. So inspiring Presence may not even need to be as significant? I'm kinda hoping she or the Branchwych get the priest keyword. I"m not certain from the rules I've seen so far you can dispel priest abilities if you don't have a priest. I believe it was the hero who could use an action to dispel a spell. Something that's come to light with Unit Coherency is with Kurnoth Hunters being 3-6 unless you take 6 and lose one to shooting reach has become the defacto stat after rend meaning Swords lose out (again) to Scythes. 3 swords are still good, you just won't see 6. This also means dryads combat getting a bit of a boost. I haven't played 40k 9th ed yet but i'm wondering if we will see more MSU (need a cmd point to stand and shoot) for armies like Warherd at the like. The biggest thing for me is the excitement of getting some games soon and the 6 months of a fresh new game with lots to try. Even if our book is still bottom tier we have 6 months of trying things that will feel fresh Plus the Warsong Revenant may have an effect we don't yet see. Hopefully mine is base coated and glazed ready for highlighting
  2. She'll have the ability to smack into a monster now and hit and wound on better values. As we get closer more details will come to light. I am hopeful but in the end of the day, the tournament scene defines what's good. It isn't. Not every summoning mechanic works this way across the board in the game. The choices aren't strictly worth 200 points, and it isn't like you are seeing people adding 20 Dryads anyways these days. I don't believe every character is pointed with their summoning in. I have vaguely recall a good episode of the Honest Wargamer with the Gaunt Summoner and blue horrors as cases but this is just my foggy memory. I don't have points and values at hand. I would trade a 740 point Alarielle with summoning for a 540 point one that doesn't have those summoning options. I agree with this. It's good to have another point of view but it doesn't need to be so vehement or slanderous. These days especially, Landohammer more often than others (maybe Pennydude is up there) brings a lot of valued game play experience to the table over arm chair arguments. I like both points of view but let's not scare people away trying to control how you see something in a game in a forum.
  3. I'm looking forward to a Ghorgon hitting another monster on 2s. or a Doombull doing that. If objective capping is done based on wound-count it will do a lot to help Warherd and the like. Small shifts can do a big deal. If nothing else at the very least it's "a" change so better than not and we can't get worse
  4. Imperial often gets love. Have you seen a single unit of grots in 9th ed 40k? i'll wait...
  5. And no Damage Prevention Roll. And only now just getting to 3+ to hit (no reason she couldn't hit on 2s, WS in general is a forever issue in "fantasy"). I still think he has some interest and we'll see over the first 6 months of the edition. The Song revenant can cast Throne of Vines in Living City now and one of their spells. He may turn out to be pretty handy in the old collection. Thigh queen I love it. She heals well and there may be a way to have her lead Treelords better than before if the rumour their W-count/stat count for objective capping. It is rumours form AoS lab. They are moving to BRB battalions for matched play. Think how 40k has generic uh.. battalions? Most likely a form like Hero, 3x BL, some monster or whatever. I wonder also with the increase of CP it will move to a near identical model of 40k with their CP. Buying the first Battalion with a WArlord is free but others cost CP. Keep in mind that Path to Glory may allow Battle Tome battalions and a LOT of people love playing Crusade in 40k. So you may still get to play your Drycha and Spite Revs in the game, just in a different manner. My understanding is GW finally got a progressive system for army building right with 9th ed 40k and that's coming to AoS.
  6. GW seems completely clueless on to-hit in Fantasy since 2nd ed? The fact heroes don't hit on 2+ is pretty dumb. 40k gets blanket 2+ on heroes and Alarielle was forever 4+. Just,.. so baffling.. Granted they changed the beetle to not need to fight 5+ (or 10?) models to get +1. So have her move twice, ambush a Hurricanum and she's hitting on 2s. But the points cost is still crazy for lacking a Damage Prevention Roll of any kind. I noticed that last night when I found out the Song Revenant has access to the whole lore. "oh,.. well I guess he can cast Throne and a heal,.." He does have a 4+ DPR though.
  7. Have they said "minimum size" or "Defacto" ? In 40k they said minimum and everyone freaked out (because there was change and gamers love and hate change). A buddy who played lots of 40k said it gave him room for stuff on the side of his table which is a nice feature for those of us with a 6'x4' table. 5 point grots. If one were to create a modern 40k religion this should be sin #1. STILL 5 POINTS. Even at projected T3. So i'm not buying "widespread".
  8. No. Was being hit by spammers from,.. a cold country. Decker closed it after one last thread to the mods. I think it was best for any fantasy forum to go away. A better community rebuilt elsewhere,.. like here He lost his rr 1s. Was it a change? I thought the 10W was always in place, or was that 8th ed 40k not AoS?
  9. My favourite quote about them is from a guy who was the Ghorros, Rambull champion of 8th ed from the Herdstone days: "they chuck rocks,... um.... they chuck rocks" I've had mixed results. I tend to outflank my 4 monsters in Darkwalkers and push the Bullgors forward slower. I think being cheaper is a decent shift for them. They will hit a lone mage on a 5+ with a rr (i believe internet-stats makes that a 3+, so one should hit, and hopefully get 3.5 wounds through.
  10. Arbroeal Walrus did a lot of that and I dug up his lists from the Blades of Khorne thread. It was looking pretty solid. Since you can spam prayers having Bullgors hit on 2s and wound on 2s with stacked attacks made them so solid. It was a Khorne allegiance though. I keep mentioned hitting on 4s feels like 6s. I've had mine do 1 wound and I've had mine do 20 wounds. In 8th I ran a Doombull, Ghorgon, and Razorgor as a trio pack hitting things. I wish MSU would overcome some of the dice spiking that can occur. I think Dark skin works best. Classic colours of Bestial Brown and shaded with Scorched brown and maybe highlight using Vermin brown as it's more red and will be less chalky which can happen with bleached bone and Scorched Brown. (sorry I use next to no new colours so far other than contrast Snakebite, I'm sure there are good replacements) A worthy collection and effort. To defend the kit, a couple years ago there were loads of really cool conversions of the Ghorgon on social media. Having painted a couple, if you can remove most the skulls it's an enjoyable model to paint. I watched Jason and the Argonauts a while ago and wanted to run/own 4 Cygor Hmmm,.. strangey strangey. In the end the bullgor models are poorly designed. We are polishing turds painting and converting them up to be better.
  11. I would really consider looking at Cities of Sigmar. (but don't rush out to buy). In fact with a new edition don't buy anything. I'm a defender of the BRB because I like reading the background and lore. Last one has all the campaign books as a synopsis. So if you can find the current BRB in a few months on sale or free it would maybe be worth reading? Living City can take 1/4 of their units as Sylvaneth. So you could get your Kurnoth Hunter fix in. I play Sylvaneth and right now they are not good at anything. But they have lovely models (Dryads are old but still decent). The thing about Cities of Sigmar is if you have access or old models you can make them work and in a very good hobby way. You'll see sword and sorcery mech-like stuff in Cities. As well as lots of conversions. And while Cities is generally considered a shooting army they have good melee support and a lot of extensible options as new cities are added via campaign books. I've been collecting Wood Elves for 34 years and I've found having a sylvaneth army along with my old wood elves gives me lots of options. I hope this helps. Who knows maybe i'm wrong
  12. Is it? I should look into his lore again. "Gave" historically (back to Realm of Chaos era) has been when human (often bretonnian) babies were born with mutations they were "gave" to the forest, ,.. to die and the strong ones survived with Herds. I've long wanted a Morghur in AoS as a large model. Or a better sized Shaggoth Ancient (the original one's perspective was those are Gors in it's hair... so bit). the art classically was fantastic. These are two super obvious ways to make the army better. Plus they started down a good line of fluff with DrOgurs. 🥰 What year is this?
  13. I'm a fan and defender of options and feel the nay-sayers to alternative or new introductions for game-play damage the game. For example historically I've seen Cities of Death, Planet Strike, Storm of Magic all killed locally by a couple power gamers just saying "oh all you have to do is X and it ruins the game." Meaning,.. if you don't do this one thing the game is something to explore. Being such a fan of Ghorros and Centigors I"m thinking of finally resurrecting my old metal stone trolls and playing destruction. I guess it means soup? Perhaps I can proxy throgg as a uh.. troll leader, dankhold troggboss? So maybe I could get a 2k army out of this as mixed destruction. It's just a game.
  14. I like the tie-in narrative for Slaanesh vs haughty aelves. nice catch. did you read the novel?
  15. sadly me too. I worry the range will be culled and finecast won't be replaced.
  16. Probably dies really fast. You can add that to the list. also dismal at casting if is a caster. I"m sure it's bad a lots. I'll still buy one cause I will enjoy painting it. Welcome to the future is now. The model priced as Drycha makes sense to me. Very large with table top presence.
  17. No. You cannot assume anything with BoC and GW except they will limp along. They are easily due for new sculpts (11 years old). I mean look how amazing the new VC are. Re-imagined and amazing in sculpts, look, direction. Granted those Zombies were from the mid 1990s. I've been thinking about the Jabberslythe lately. Something was good and taken, GW removed what made it good, then changed it in an odd way as rationalization and now it's never taken. Breaking the monster format was dumb. I quite like the degrading system.
  18. What are people saying about Infernal Enraptresses? On one of the AoS coach's episodes someone had mentioned value, particularly summoning them (along with DAemoenttes and Seekers being very good to summon,. and a Keeper). I've been debating picking one up to paint. My guess is these are meant to be "AoS 3 Crusade/Path to Glory" boxes. ... and stuff not selling well. hahaha. The BoC one is Warherd and unless there is an outrageous miracle, GW is surely not going to give Warherd fans like me a bone to gnaw on. I do wonder if in Crusade you can use Battalions and that game-mode will become more popular. It's a hit in 40k. Is fluffy pillow a slaanesh "bedroom move" 😉 har har. good tip I have loads of old 1987 Slaanesh champions of chaos that are a joy to paint. Thanks for the note about Chaos Knights. I have 10 I've been toying with painting up. I'm wondering if they are significantly smaller than Keepers. I'm actually,.. not a huge fan of the keeper (GASP i know,..) but I love the new twins and I'm thinking of them as a keeper. Perhaps GW has sold so many Keepers they are banking on us going in on the twins AND in pairs. GW never admits overpricing (look at how Eternal Guard, Black Guard and Maiden Guard had been escalated and priced)
  19. Not a bad idea. 4+ wouldn't be terrible. Lacking reach on the Great Axe (which is what 3" long IRL?) is probably a significant factor on running them 3s vs 6s. I've had them survive surprisingly long vs Chaos Dwarfs (last game of pure warherd, admitted not a great test). But I tookthree units of 6. Reach is still the biggest factor in Kurnoth Hunters as well. There was a good build in 6th edition for Khorne Minotaurs of 4-man units. They had a bucket of attacks, were Core troops and provided free dispel dice. I still long to see Bullgors/WArherds operate that way. 3-4 Bullgors being utterly smashy and deadly on the charge. (instead of whiffing...) Well that's my point. In 8th edition they were an elite horde. Minotaurs used to have a solid WS and it went more generic at the weight of more dmg, rend and better to-wound. Then this book the cmd ability was changed from within 15" to one unit wholly within, what 6? 12? does it matter? It was dumb. So we either want dirt cheap Bullgors as is, or better synergy in the army to compensate dice spiking and weaker stats. By the way if goblins can be made to hit on 4s, Bullgors hitting on 4s is outright stupid. I've hit twice with 6 Bullgors attacking before. Hitting on 4s can feel like hitting on 6s. I have 24 Bullgors. I want better sculpts not more of the same old ones There are a lot of novellas or possibly even shorter stories being released. Perhaps there will be some continuing thread from the campaign books there? Don't worry, they won't 😉 I'm wondering if they will be decent starters for "AoS 3 Crusade" or,.. well maybe they will keep the Path to Glory name.
  20. Always, thanks, interesting to read. I noticed one of the Wrath of the Everchosen had a +3" pile in. Feels like it gives Slaanesh a bit more of a leg up in AoS 3 if longer pile-ins are a strength. The units with a natural 'getting to pile in a 6"' but actually move 9". The Masque offhand. I don't know if it's enough to warrant but could provide some utility especially with mobility and smaller boards.
  21. I would love for Bullgors to be as scary as S* as they are in the iPad games, uh,.. Silver Tower and Hero quest? like brutally dangerous and hard to chew through.
  22. I've been wonderin about Ungors as 20-40, Gors as 10-23 but 2W and reasonably better at fighting and Bestigors as 2W and just keep them vicious or make them more and 10-20. I"m not a huge fan of 1W-30 model units as mechanic. NPC army is a good way of putting it. They constantly feature prominently when they need chaos to die in droves, do counter how good the elite-nature of the better stuff is. No defence needed. We all get to that point once in a while. All good
  23. Everyone has knee-****** negative reactions. I've played the army for 18 years and ups and downs. GW has not done a good job supporting the army. Invariably the best option is to promote whats great and not the hate. Sure, nothing great in the book but pushing in a positive direction usually gets better results I want what's elite to play elite. So Warherd has usable synergies and effective traits to make them compete on the table to a degree that isn't fluff player. But,.. thinking about it,.. would I trade a fix for another points drop? Maybe. Dirt cheap Warherd units would be kinda interesting to see. Keep them as horde and price them accordingly. Quantity over quality even on the "quality" units. Maybe an utter spam of Doombulls, Bullgors and Ghorgons in ridiculous numbers could work. Most likely a book-interim "typo" based on the rules writer being new and not knowing about Tzaangors and how s/he should have put "brayherd" keyword in. I believe Tzaangors didn't have Brayherd when in the first Tzeentch book. If there is a new BoC book and GW clues in getting the Brayherd keyword in a new BoC book would hopefully be the expected outcome. I don't want mortal BoC. I want Beasts. Otherwise I would just play Slaves to Darkness. I want Marked BoC back in a feasible playable manner.
  24. Sisters of the Watch. Every couple of units you take in Living city makes 2 of them three times better.
