  1. It's not been consistently worse really there have been some good things, mainly the first time we got army abilities etc.. just never as good as needed to compete with "armybook" armies.
  2. You don't understand. People starting new armies is the big money maker for GW. GW tries to make it acceptable to unsupport armies the best way they can. Supporting armies or older models for armies that will stay (chaos) isn't in their own interest. And they are right: playing with 20 year old models and keep getting new rules etc etc isn't good for GW.
  3. I would like it of the ability to summon wyldwoods and be immune to them was shared.. or even if we had to put a command ability into it to get on of those abilities... allying in a lot of sylvaneth is pointless without decent access to wyldwoods.
  4. I do not think any of the main factions you own will get the love you want. I think it'll be all idoneth style releases: completely new, except MAYBE my wanderers.. which I'm hoping for.. but not holding my breath for it .
  5. This. However you can't really not have known this when you've invested this kind of money in it right?
  6. So I played a Kroak + Slann list with shadowstrike batallion and an EotG. Scenario: starstrike. His starstrike host (6 razors) killed Alarielle turn 1 (didn't know about the 3" teleport rule, had 9" teleports behind backline covered and had screening in front of her.. live and learn I guess. Anyway. Kroak is just nasty.. had +2 spells (cogs and balewind) and +2 to cast (constellation and.. something else) and often + 14" range (astrolith and balewind I think). I was almost tabled mostly by the at least 34 MW kroak did (I can remember 2 turns of 15 MW and 1 of 4... didn't play his turn 5 but there was probably another turn with a few wounds there too) which is prettty heavy on an 88 wound army (I did summon 3 hunters and 10 dryads though). I actually won mainly due to a bit of luck with the star strikes: I got the first one (midline) in turn 2 easily (fell into wyldwood I'd summoned and teleported too turn 1 on the left). He had mainly deployed in the right corner and was raining death by way of magic from there. The other 2 (in his and my territory) fill in the middle and I also those got turn 3 since I still had initiative that turn. He was only able to get one of those back in his turn 3 so it was 11-3 after turn 3. He already wanted to concede then but I saw he was just massacring me and he had teleports (double teleport trait) and if he got 2 objectives turn 4 and 5 and I only got 1 I'd still beat me). I kept 20 dryads in a forest on the left midline objective though and he didn't get it and his razors (which after killing Alarielle had faced 20 dryads , 5 revenants and would have killed them (backed by magic) all except the dryads ran . His 3 razors only got the remaining dryads to 2 turn 4 so he had it but in my turn 4 moved the TLA that way and killed those 2 so I had it again. It was 19-11 and he could have possibly gotten 15 last turn with teleports and summons and some luck... but then I rolled initiative again so I'd automatically keep 2 which mean I'd be 29-11 after my turn... and he could max get 15. It was late and he congratulated me without playing turn 5. All in all it was a bit frustrating. I lost Alariell his turn 1, luckily after summoning the hunters (I usually go treelord but I needed to kill his slann, or astrolith or kroak and it wasn't going to happen any other way. I actually got his slann only down to 1 wound remaining end of turn 2 after which they where killed.. I killed it turn 3 with the reaping. So I started with 10 spells cast per round.. but ofc.. turn 1 nothing was in range... and turn 2 Alarielle was dead.. so my powerfull magic phase was already crippled. In addition to that HE had cogs and just kept rolling every spell and me failing dispells while I hardly got anything through due to terrible rolls ( a lot of 3-4 when I needed 5 and a lot of 5 when I needed 6) and his infinite dispell range.. I certainly didn't feel like I was playing a magic heavy batallion. I guess it's just my luck I've been playing against Anti-magic Khorne goretide and even more powerfull magic seraphon a lot... magic is hardly even About the "ideas" behind the list: Loremaster and Mirrors + reaping + circlet: -Alarielles early death meant that I didn't have a real testcase for the loremaster (only used his spell once on the TLA which did benefit greatly). - I only got of the combo Umbral (was casted turn 2 ) and then reaping (with circlet) combo once (turn 3).. but it did quite some damage (as mentioned finished the slann which meant he didn't have 24 summoning points the last 3 turns). I actually fired the wych own spell through it too which was illegal... but I only thought of it when he positioned kroak next to it turn 3... so I let him blow all kroaks spell through it the other way around which more than made up the damage (killed all 3 of the 5 wound characters in turn 3 or 4).
  7. I'm not convinced the sisters are either.... 9. Hmm I'd not thought of this yet... umbral silverwood and reaping does seem nice.
  10. Would be great for an army with lots of dryads I'd say.
  11. Survivability we have, damage output on the other hand isn't always enough. I see more value in the loremaster.
  12. This list or something similar will probably be my list as well next game. My last little idea's (most of which I think I'll end up not doing btw): 1. The main thing is that just have not enough points for the real interesting endless spells. Dropping 100 points of dryads for that is an option... 2. Maybe a different spell on the wych.. but a double regrowth has advantages too. 3. For Alarielle and/or the TLA I'm considering The reaping. I mean... if you cast 2 spells there is a decent chance that reaping + alarielle's spell will do more damage than ToV + her spell. 4. For the TLA you can also consider dropping the Oaken Armor for the gyrstrike not sure I'd do it.. but it would give him more punch (and.. I often find him lacking in that department for 300 points) 5. Is the lore master still a thing (140 points is kinda steep but.. he'd fit nicely with Alarielle, TLA and a summoned TL. How to get the points is another thing.. you'd have to drop 10 dryads.. and the pallisade.. and still you';d be short.
  13. BTW I have a question. I'm pretty sure the answer is going to be negative but I can't find the rules why it would be: Do your wyldwoods could as enemy models for your opponent for the purpose of teleporting (9"outside of enemy models). I mean.. they are in our army, if we aren't sylvaneth we'd have to pay for them etc etc. I know it's probably just me being a sylvaneth player and trying to push the rules but it popped up and I can't really find the rules to disagree with me (most of my stuff is in another location.. that doesnt help).
  14. I'd go 2 units of dryads myself and do exactly as you said with the spells and items. (I've been trying a wych with reaping and extra range through item and maybe balewind but it's not often been that succesful so I'm now leaning towards that acorn since getting a 3th or even 2nd wood on the table has been difficult for me too). If you go Alarielle keeping 2x20 dryads will mean you'll have to cut in the endless spells though.
  15. OMG YES THAT. If stringing is gone dryads do need a price drop though. 2-6 damage doesn't seem like a very reliable way to kill most 5 wound hero's ... let alone 6 wound hero's with a better than 4+ save (yes... bloodsecrator) I agree.. their spell is just so subpar.. especially when looking at the newer spells and endless spells (yes you pay for those.. but still). I personally would like the Ancient to have 2 spells btw, just because I think ancient treelords should be better casters than most. I'd not mind loosing an attack for it..
  16. I'd say a further points drop is more in GW's alley... since it would mean we would buy more of those.
  17. The -1 to hit being wholly within would SEVERELY suck. Without it they aren't really worth their points, NOW we get it almost always, especially when on defense. Wholly within would make that happen way less.
  18. I'd say waystones are not things that are placed together myself... but on certain points over the realms. 1 would be enough to start with or to get during a game (like slann maybe trading spells for points that you need to get it?)
  19. The bow on revenants has potential as a unit I'd say.
  20. I agree with your "other observations" if you get first turn you should grab objectives and hope you can defend them or you'll already have lost the game in most cases.
  21. It's basicly exchanging the Durthu's and Alarielle for more Kurnoths. It doesn't seem weak and has way more wounds, better options to distribute the forces than having more single monsters too. I'd certainly take a few swords hunters though, maybe 6.. you'll be able to tailor which to send where to optimize anyway. I'd probably start the 10 dryads as 20 myself. 20 is way better and I'll hopefully summon a few groups of 10 anyway. Not sure about 2x wraith either but the spell is very good so it might even be worth it just to have one always in range of a forest ... wych is ofc the obvious alternative.
  22. Wanderers on the other hand do not have that much of an advantage in allegiance abilities And also not THAT much great units. Living city would allow you to put some more good units in a wanderer list. I've not looked at it very much but the other armies must have some strong units that you can put next to some wanderer shooters and Kurnoth hunters :D. (For effectiveness I'd not pick wanderers over Sylvaneth allegiance myself).
