  1. Time for disappointing mathhammer. Krakeneater 5.93 with club 1.4 with stomp 1.94 with grab total dams=9.27 grabs d3 models, need to roll double the wounds 1.33 with rocks Warstomper 1.94 with grab 2.96 with stomps .74 * number of attacks +4 maxes at 10. 2.96-7.4 total dams= (max)12.3 Grabs a model, need to roll double wounds but get +2 Gatebreaker 1.4 with stomp 1.94 with grab 10 with flail total dams=13.34 2.22 with rocks Mancrusher eadbutt 1.33 club 2.96 0.74 damage total dams=5.03 rocks ability .83 *3=2.4 FLOSH 3.56 frostspear .67 punches and kicks 6 rock hard horns 2.59 hooves total dams=12.82 This is all against a 4+ save, and with the highest profile. The winner seems to be Mancrushers, as their charge ability can do 3d3 mortal wounds. The frostlord will do noticeably more damage if it gets a charge off, probably closer to 14-15, since the mount's damage increases by a flat 1. It looks like we can expect around 13 damage from each, but the Gatebreaker and Mancrushers are looking to be the most consistent damage dealers.
  2. yeah I'm not sure what the exchange rate is, but its probably going to be around 230 canadian, Part of what makes australian prices so high is that they need to apply the tax to the display price, so I suspect it will be around 260 AUD? Thats around what it will be in canada after tax.
  3. @Gwendar I totally forgot each wizard can only cast 1 endless spell a turn, i might need to go over the list again to be sure. I should just suck it up and paint the shaman I guess. The enlightened are kind of like filler here too, I figure I can stick them right behind a units of gors so they can fight after I take a charge. I've been toying with the idea of cutting both the second shaman, and the enlightened, which would let me bring in curseling, alongside another unit of bodies, or maybe balefire taurus.
  4. They don't need to be chaos to show up in warcry, or even the eightpoints. Wouldnt be much of a surprise for a few troggs to stumble through the cracks.
  5. I did a bit of lore digging, and it looks like the caverns of Fulminax, where the sulpherbreath Troggoths call their home, is the location of a huge bound flame elemental, whose heat makes the area nearly inhospitable. I thought it might be wierd that we'd get new troggoths (or spiderfang rip) stuff in Broken realms from a narrative perspective. The new warcry set Catacombs seems like a perfect fit for these guys. Trolls in deep ruined catacombs, and the board has visible lava, so the fire theme fits too. Rockguts and Fellwaters were beast options in one of the expansions too.
  6. So I've been painting up this list: Allegiance: Tzeentch- Change Coven: Guild of SummonersMortal Realm: GhyranLeadersTzaangor Shaman (150)- Artefact: Brimstone FamiliarTzaangor Shaman (150)- General- Command Trait: Prophet of the Ostensible- Artefact: Everspring DiademGreat Bray Shaman of Tzeentch (100)Great Bray Shaman of Tzeentch (100)The Blue Scribes (120)Battleline10 x Gors of Tzeentch (70)10 x Gors of Tzeentch (70)20 x Tzaangors (360)Units3 x Tzaangor Enlightened (100)3 x Tzaangor Skyfires (200)3 x Tzaangor Skyfires (200)10 x Ungor Raiders of Tzeentch (80)BattalionsPhantasmagoria of Fate (180)Endless Spells / Terrain / CPsBalewind Vortex (40)Chronomantic Cogs (80)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 130 And after finishing my first Tzaangor shaman I'm looking to swap out the other for something else 😅. The only things I have left to paint are the second Tzaangor shaman, and the two endless spells (and a second Lord of change to summon). The list has exactly 9 spells at the moment if both Tzaangor shaman's chug their energy drinks. How unrealistic would it be to pimp out a Magister instead? I'd need to roll a double, but I could have the Magister attempt to cast balewind, cogs, and his warscroll/Lore spell. Plus I could take an extra endless spell (maybe tome of eyes) or a command point.
  7. Does anyone have any experience with yhetees? I'm thinking about picking up a few but I don't know how good they are. Just from reading the warscroll they seem like they can hit pretty hard for their cost, but they're frail and dont have ogor charge or count as 2 models for controlling objectives.
  8. the main platform of the chariot is essentially a disc of tzeentch, you could use it to kitbash some characters like the fatemaster or magister on disc, or put the herald on it.
  9. I've heard Skyfires with some Activation Wars stuff can be pretty strong, since you can guarantee their rerolls more often, stuff like the Taurus from BoC and the Sphiranx
  10. Yeah the cost of entry is higher, even if the cost to continue playing isn't higher (you can get by with one army). Some armies are particularly cheap to get into, even more so than the starter set ones, in particular Beastclaw Raiders, Fyreslayers, and Flesh Eater Courts can make a 2000 point list out of 3 start collecting boxes, I'm not sure anymore, but I think seraphon can also do 2000 points with 3 boxes and a slann too. Edit: A great way to get players into the game is if you have enough models to make two smallish (1k?) armies and play a starter game with them, that way they can try it out before buying it.
  11. Honestly I don't think Tzaangors can go down much in cost without being a broken level of efficiency, they're already 9 points a wound, which is pretty efficient especially given how hard they can hit. Units of 15 would make a difference because 10 man units of Tzaangor are little more than overcosted chaff, and 20 man units are blenders (their damage falls off super hard once they go under 9 models). 15 man units, at the current cost, would be 270 points, and still effectively hit nearly as hard as the 20 man unit (6 greatblades, 3 mutants), since it can be hard to fit 12 models in at times anyways. 270 points is much more palatable for taking multiple units of as well, but 360 points is very hard to fit into a list, especially in multiples. 5 man chaff Tzanngors for 90 points would be fine as well, although there is a lot that can do that job better.
  12. Unless it specifically states on foot, you can take one on maw krusha. Per the rules under battalions "If an entry is the title of a unit, any unit with that title can be used (you can ignore sub-headers under the title unless they are included in the entry for the unit)." The on Maw Krusha section is a sub-header.
  13. The lack of a tzaangor subfaction, or good battalions makes them an odd fit in Tzeentch, but don't undersell their damage. Larger units get more special weapons, so a unit of 20 gets 8 greatblades and 4 mutants, and given they're on 32s, it will be all you're attacking with. The issue is the cost/unit size, I really think they would see more play if they could be taken in units of 15, since you've got a buffer for the extra attack and still get a lot of special weapons.
  14. Probably, I'd be surprised if it wasn't announced for preorder on sunday.
  15. Finally! I'm glad the ironsunz stuff is in there, I only got a chance to try it out once.
  16. RIP I turned this guy into a scuttleboss a few months ago.
  17. The announcement this week will be released on the 4th of october, it could be the first of the 40k codexes that were supposed to drop in october. Could also be Gargants but I bet they will be announced next sunday, since that will have them release alongside their audiobook.
  18. The smaller shield on the plate IS an Ironbreaker shield, which is around the size of an ogor's gutplate. which scales this model up in size considerably. My first guess would be a bit in the new Gargant kit that we havent seen yet, but it seems appropriately sized for a stonehorn/thundertusk shoulder plate, so maybe it is a "Frost King" model? Its definitely destruction, doesn't look like ironjawz, bonesplitterz, or Gitz, and seems too big to be the gutplate to an ogor. That means either Gargants, or some kind of Ogor monster in my books. I suppose it could work as an actual shield for something big, like an Ogor or a Bullgor, but the aesthetic doesn't fit well with either (Ogors don't use shields). If it is something new it could be scrap on a gitmob/Grotbag contraption of some sort.
  19. Yeah thats what I was considering, but Eurlbad + Frostlord is basically 2000 points, if I took a Eurlbad with no Frostlord I would have points to fit in a few extras like a hunter with some cats, but then I wouldn't have the frostlord.
  20. We are getting gargants, so maybe megamob is referring to mega gargants. If it is a Troll subfaction/supplement/rules I'll be worried about Gitz appearing in shattered realms
  21. You can also comvert a decent war mammoth out of a LotR Mumak, just get some variant of chaos guys to ride it and slap on some spiky bits
  22. So I've started thinking about painting up my beastclaw raiders, and the place I always start is listbuilding. I threw this together: Allegiance: Ogor Mawtribes- Mawtribe: ThunderbelliesIcebrow Hunter (120)- Artefact: ShatterstoneFrostlord on Stonehorn (400)- General- Command Trait: Storm Chaser- Artefact: Alvagr Rune-tokens- Mount Trait: Black ClatterhornHuskard on Thundertusk (300)- Blood Vulture- Prayer: Keening Gale- Mount Trait: Rimefrost Hide4 x Mournfang Pack (280)- Gargant Hackers4 x Mournfang Pack (280)- Gargant Hackers4 x Mournfang Pack (280)- Gargant Hackers2 x Frost Sabres (40)6 x Frost Sabres (120)Skal (100)Extra Command Point (50)Total: 1970 / 2000Extra Command Points: 2Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 120 I want to run thunderbellies since I like the lore and paint scheme, and mournfang are cool, but the lack of realm artifacts seems to hit frostlords hard unless they're in boulderhead. Would it be crazy to make a list without a frostlord in it? is there anything else I should try to fit into the list? I know I want a hunter to take advantage of the shatterstone. Is the priest worth it at 300? Or is he still ineffective at that cost?
  23. AoS is a lot more free-form lorewise than 40k (although the idea of an Ork army having a "proper" version is a bit of a laugh) For many factions in AoS there is no "proper" or "lore friendly" versions of armies. A gitz army of just squigs is just as valid as one with hordes of grots. To be honest I suspect the "core" keyword is more marine centric than the article is letting on, and that the purpose is to simplify chapter/supplement rules (i.e. Bikers gain the "core" keyword in white scars). This could stretch to other armies and subfactions, but marines suffer from having the most bloated range.
  24. You can use the Sorcerer Lord on manticore's oracular visions ability on himself. Its pretty good with paradoxical shield actually, since paradoxical shield only forces rerolls on successful saves before modifiers (so it only forces a reroll on a 4, 5, or 6) and oracular visions lets you reroll anything else.
  25. It feels like you really need to dedicate a hero to directly sit on the pot all game, and depending on the battleplan it might not be in a useful spot. Bloodgullet butcher with balewind next to the pot can pump out some decent damage though, provided it is in a decent location.
