  1. @schwabbele @Kramer thank you both! i've been holding off on getting green stuff since I have a lot more ETB stuff than regular kits. But I guess now is the time to get some
  2. so the Palladors with no cape have a hole where that cape would come below the shoulderpad? would you mind taking a picture of it?
  3. Also worth stressing that women and people of color being in the hobby is not a new phenomenon; they may seem like a smaller group of fans within TTRPG or wargaming (especially TTRPGs) because they don't do their gaming in the same places; why would you show up to a GW or LGS, or eve a school club, if you felt uncomfortable or unsafe playing there? You wouldn't, you'd simply find a group and a location you felt comfortable in. Again, having your game/lore reflect the extremely real and inherent diversity in humankind is not "pushing" or "forcing" diversity, it's literally reflecting real life. Thinking that this is in any way giving "extra rights" to minorities or taking a "left wing" position doesn't make it true. They gave a very basic, corporate PR statement. Which is backed up by their models very slowly becoming more diverse, and with the lore and RPG being slightly 'faster' about it. The second I saw the Soulbound book included a female duardin I went to Cubicle 7 to pre-order it, because it was the first time in a long time that I felt as though GW was actively trying to be better. Whether that translates to model kits or just a story box like Silver Tower if anything at all is something we'll see in the next year or two.
  4. I forgot to ask this in my previous post: has anyone seen the Vanguard Hunters without capes on? is it possible to build them that way? I hear Palladors are fine to build without the capes on, does it also work with the Hunter sprue?
  5. oof, is this also true of the Vanguard Chamber SC?
  6. I have no idea what BS you're reading but Abby was confirmed as not being trans even before the game released... but apparently she has to be trans because her arms aren't sticks?? Why is it that too many men have a hard time understanding that women can in fact have muscles and be muscular? As for the actual topic, I'll chime in alongside the other folks who've said it: it's not forcing diversity to make models that reflect real life and the people that inhabit it. It's a good thing that GW is moving away from white and male only models in both settings. Having your models and lore reflect the inherent diversity in humankind is not "left wing", it just makes sense.
  7. i'm still catching up on this thread but I have a question concerning the sorry state of SCE... does it make anyone else less likely to paint or build them? I really do enjoy the models, and even though the amount of details on Sacrosanct units are intimidating for someone coming back to paint after ~decade ... I wonder how much of my lack of hobby motivation is because of how ignored Stormcast are. Heck even thinking about picking another army I don't know who I'd pick because I'm drawn to the Stormcast aesthetic the most. Any tips for hobby malaise?
  8. anyone else sad there's not even preorder up for Lumineth? I really would like to preorder the DOK warband
  9. thanks for all your work in getting AOS on its feet, and I'm glad to hear it was mutual Josh
  10. i'd recommend getting it to browse and read, i love just looking through battletomes: the art is great and you get painting how-tos on top of all the fluff. which battletomes would you recommend purely for lore pieces? in what way? if the lore is better maybe I should check one of the older books out 😅
  11. Heard the news today... Guess I'll have to bump Soul Wars to the top of my reading list! this is really sad to hear he left because of creative differences... Hoping the best for him, and I'm sure he'll do well once he finds his feet again. This on top of the price hikes isn't giving me much confidence for the rest of AOS 2020
  12. honestly i don't think i'll be purchasing anything outside of Warcry and Underworlds warbands from here on out... maybe some books when I see one that looks worth it. really annoying they're doing a price hike now when things already feel expensive.
  13. the immediate issue i can see is that your enemy won't have anything else to shoot/cast at aside from Kroak and your dracs, which is what you're pinning success on. might want to drop one unit of 6 cats for more chaff?
  14. there's another preview on April 18th, which apparently now MUST include the veiled lady. Really hoping they have more to show besides her...
  15. others probably have reasons beyond this, but IMO at this point we may see a staggered release because of how F'd up global supply chains are going to be. GW is completely closed as well which they then have to decide to either delay an entire release, or stagger it
  16. I'd like to implore everyone to send GW an email about Stormcast's current warscroll and balance issues: aosfaq@gwplc.com I talked about the need for more synergy, better warscrolls for older units, and possibly 3 wounds for regular troops. I also linked PJetski's revamp project to ask them to read through it for ideas and to better understand the current problems
  17. it does look like there could be more units on both sides of the picture, though I'm not sure if there'll be any more heroes depending on placement. While this is already a big release, having only a single-kit elite unit feels meh if this week's reveals are only going to be a hero and...something
  18. they are, but i'm tired of any changes to what is completely malleable, fictional lore getting such pushback because it doesn't remind people of what they were reading/watching/playing 10+ years ago. we went from this thread being a discussion to half the posts complaining that these somehow aren't "real aelves" Europe and the US don't consider cows anything special, that's not the entire world's attitude about cows. India seems them as graceful, beautiful creatures worthy of reverence. Oxen have always been a symbol of strength and resilience to agricultural peoples, including in the Mediterranean and Europe. It's not farfetched to think that a group of aelves could find grace and poise through oxen. the idea that these ethereal beings have come to revere rudimentary animals of their realm, as a way of healing the rift between them and the spirits that reside in it, is REALLY good as a lore aspect--and yet people can't get past "cow and hammers" to see what this actually means for these new aelves.
  19. it really doesn't, the models overall look great aside from the helmets. y'all need to get over this hump of fantasy aesthetics being ~required~ to fit into what dead authors used in their own works decades ago. breathing new life into fantasy aesthetics is how you actually move your brand forward
  20. so what's this email then? can we organize a Stormcast board email zap 😅
  21. a lot of people on the facebook post are super salty this isn't the aelf faction they SPECIFICALLY WANTED, so your theory holds water. My personal issue is I like the aesthetic chances they took but jfc they need more input on helmets
  22. i really wonder how many people these designs actually go through before finalization and casting? the mountain bull looks dope, and so do the hammers...all the way up to their helmet adornment
  23. The current situation + this new article about Kislev Ice Guard (which look more like AOS to me than anything WFB) has me thinking: what is GW planning on doing? Should the Old World even be something they pour tons of resources into now? How many 30k models are applicable to 40k? Even before the pandemic problems, higher production wasn't going to remain stable or sustainable for long. It makes me a bit worried for what GW will be able to actually do for all of their games in the future.
  24. Most if not all countries are adopting this strategy. We need to heed the warnings of having no non-essential contact. I have good healthcare in the US (for once) and even I'm still very anxious because I work with older folks. It's confirmed younger people can spread covid19 asymptomatically. Don't do anything you don't need to.
