  1. @Asimov That sounds interesting I redrew up my list last night (couple of times) still on the idea of a mortal/semi comp list after getting the book and was thinking of this.

Question though - are the battalions worth it (other than changehost) or better to spend the points on something else?

Then as I get points up summon horrors and daemons, like channeling the chaos god's from being great acolytes!

  2. So 3 games today at 1500 versus new Sylvaneth book.

Game 1 was cut short while still close but Game 2 and 3 went to the gnarlroot list. Minor Victory and Major Victory.

While the Major Victory was littered with mistakes from both parties. Game 3 was a tie and went down to kill points and I had been tabled in the last turn.

Have to say I struggled with low drops, having the larger drop Sylvaneth counter deploy against my Terrorghiest/ZD.

I tried to go hard against the double threat his army had, but the shooting from Dyrca and Hunters and counterpunch with reroll 1s on shooting and fighting were too much.

I did whiff a little in Game 3 (failed charge with reroll on TG) have to say the new tree book was quite impressive.

If you have any games against them please share any tips. I tried to deny forest space etc but seemed I just got whittled away at and the teleporting is so much more consistent now objective sitting seemed to never quite be enough if I didn't alpha and do something

My first thoughts would be Archaon is kind of wasted in both of these lists.  I also think Tzeentch has command traits that are too good to be wasted by having a named as a general and since you have only one command ability anyway, him being the general isn't very helpful.  Archaon also does not get 2 spells from spell lores.  Shaman should also probably not have Tzeentch's Inferno; I'd say fold reality or some utility spell and use his tzaangor spell instead.  Consider Ogroid Thamaturge with infusion.  Spell portal without a Lord of Change is probably not worth it.  For Tzaangors, I'd probably recommend cogs.  If you do bring the Lord of Change, giving him fold reality is a waste, give him Tzeentch's Inferno if you want to fish for massive damage or bolt of change if you want something a little more reliable.  Also, Tzaangors only need one shield.  Their composition for a block of 10 should always be 1 shield (I give shield to twist bray to make dice rolling easier), 4 great blades, 2 mutants, 3 paired blades.  I'd definitely recommend 6 enlightened.  Anyway, just my opinion and hope it is helpful.  Good luck!

@Sumanye Thanks for this post it is really helpful. I love the enlightened models so running 6 seems good. Ogroid is another swap I'll consider.

I'll be honest alot of the spell placement was a bit random but now I have the book I'll reconsider my lore placements.

I'll go back to the drawing board and rejig the numbers around.

    @firtahl thanks as well.

  4. Hey again, so I have drawn up my two lists. Looking for feedback on the better list for a semi comp list.

As always open to suggestions, tweaks, constructive criticism. Would prefer a mortal list even though I know I am handicapping myself. Also I would have summons to spend fate points on. Depending on feedback I will be buying my first 1000 points today!!! 😁

  5. Hey everyobe, so I've just got from Warhammer world yeaterday and I want to start a 2000 point project after finishing my FEC! Could you guys help a total novice create a non dreadful list, only stipulations are the following;

    - Love enlightened disc models

    - Want to run Archaon (RoC just adore the model)

Rest feel free to do whatever! Any help would be appreciated even if it is what to buy first or a list you have made.

I went to the tournament yesterday and played 3 games- I took list 2. My first ever tournament. Got a major lost first game against beast claws.

major victory in second game against Sylvaneth.

then lost by one point in the last game against Squigs- I had no idea how fast they could move.

Really enjoyed the tournament and got through the games fast with only a few models to move!

Yeah but that 3rd place in the painting competition weren't bad!

Each abhorrent can use his summoning ability once.

Majestic Horror means that when the character with it uses his command ability it doesn't cost a command point. It used to do something quite different last edition.

The Charnel throne means that any foot Abhorrent (AAR or Ghoul King on Foot) uses their command ability it doesn't cost a command point.

Any units you summon have to be within 6 of the board edge and more than 9 from enemy models.

So your GKoTG could summon in either 3 flayers or 3 horrors. If he has majestic Horror it doesn't cost a command point, otherwise it costs a command point.

The AAR can summon in any of the courtiers, 3 horrors/flayers or 20 ghouls. If he is on the throne it doesn't cost a command point, if he has majestic horror it doesn't cost a command point. If neither of those things is true then it costs a command point.

That is all they can summon that game.

Thank you for the great response

    • Thanks 1
  8. Scenario

FEC army with a GKoTG and 1 AAR who is general with Majestic horror, standing on a Charnel throne. 1 CP has been purchased and it is the end of the 1st turn movement phase.

Summoning options off board are 20 ghouls, 2 Varghulfs, 1 Infernal Courtier, 3 Crypt Flayers.

    Question

How many summons legally can you do (how much CP if any used) and can you summon into their deployment zone?

The FEC book seems to indicate unlimited as long as legal units, old rules talk about distances involved (18inches) and online people say it is 3 as majestic horror gives a free one, the Charnel thrones let's you summon one with no cost and the GKoTG can summon the flayers.

Thanks in advance came up in a match today and we just got in a right mess as we don't own every book.

  9. Hi Everyone,

Just finishing off my first 2 projects with FEC and Nighthaunts and was wanting to start my next project in the coming months (yup I am not that loyal to any Grand alliance!). I really want to base the army around Archaon and have Nurgle included.

Would the below list be the right way to go about this or would there be a better way of doing so. Ignore the artefacts as I was totally guessing.

The army does not need to be min-maxed but I would like it to be synergistic as this usually allows for more 'tricksy' plays.

Any ideas appreciated though talk to me like 5 year old remember I play with ghouls and chompy dragons usually 😂

You could also throw in either a courtier or a Ghoul King on foot.

Yeah as @XReN said the ghoul king has been raised.

If you are summoning flayers/horrors @Erdemo86 then the courtier that matches those could be placed on the battlefield.

Otherwise an Barricade and another 10 ghouls could be a choice, would be my suggestion.

  11. So the everyone has had time to digest the FAQ see the landscape moving forward.

For those who attend events or clubs what's everyone's 2000 point lists moving forward. Anyone jamming anything different? Are you sticking to your current list? or including an interesting ally or mercenary moving forward?

Secondary question with Slaanesh doing well at recent events, how do you think you are gonna combat that?

  12. 5 minutes ago, Honk said:

I only had one ME game with my legion of blood bravery bomb list (failed rock solidly)...

ME is a whole „new“ game to play, all the different unit requirements and stuff. Not sure if first turn kills are even possible without help through suicidal positioning. Big artillery comes in last (exception), big stuff mostly second and the set up area is really tiny in comparison.

whole different kind of playstyle required imo

    2 hours ago, XReN said:

Well, it won't be easy for anyone to kill Ethereal GkoTG before he brings in his summons.

@Honk this is the impression I am now getting that the small board, screening and limited numbers of troops (we have) you need to be a bit more tactical with how you attack/play.

What list did you play against? Anything you thought afterwards you would do differently if you were to play today.

I believe you will be better of putting Majestic Horror on GKoTG, unless you want to race your ARegent into battle, but in that case maybe pick some fighty trait for him? But I'd personally stick him with the throne and put MH on GKoTG

Ah I see your point @XReN as I will get free CP from throne so for redundancy sake if I make GKoTG have MH he can freely summon.

Would there be any concern with making your GK the general? Or would the benefit of completely free summon outweigh possibility of your general being slain early game?

Does anyone have a bit of experience with Meeting engagements? I am trying to work on a list centered around a Ghoul King on Zombie Dragon.

Hi @PraetorDragoon I have finalised my meeting engagements list for a tournament ,while I won't use a zombie dragon maybe it could be a help to you.

    Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts

    - Grand Court: Court of Delusion - The Feast Day
    Mortal Realm: Shyish

    Spearhead
    Abhorrant Archregent (240)
    - General
    - Trait: Magestic Horror
    - Lore of Madness: Deranged Transformation
    10 x Crypt Ghouls (100)
    Cadaverous Barricade (40)

    Main Body
Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist (420)
    - Artefact: Ethereal Amulet
    - Lore of Madness: Spectral Host
    - Mount Trait: Gruesome Bite
    10 x Crypt Ghouls (100)
    Cadaverous Barricade (40)

    Rearguard
    10 x Crypt Ghouls (100)
    Cadaverous Barricade (40)

    Total: 1000 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Wounds: 51

Summonable options in addition to list - 20 Ghouls, 3 Flayers, 2 Varghulfs and 1 Infernal Courtier.

What you could do is drop the endless spell and take the AKoZD instead of the AKoTG.

Otherwise the rules limit configuration unless you go Flayer/Horror heavy with the relevant court allowing them as battleline but the numbers might be rejigging.

    Hope this helps 👍

Well, playing this luxury game at all is a big entitlement issue, but lets not go there and skip this whole entitlement discussion going forward.

My personal opinion with regards to special models (I don’t own any) is that as long as tbey’re not dominating the game and thus ”required” to be competitive with that army, they should be allowed.

That's fair and in no way am I dismissing alternate opinions. Merely stating a difference. 😊

I have started a bedsheets army and death players got to stick together! 👍🦴

  16. I want to caveat this with I'm not a nighthaunt player and I do not own the model but isn't the use of entitlement contradictory here.

The model was special edition and limited availability, yes it had rules but weren't they intended for the product it was sold with?

"the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment"

Surely the fact that a minority can use this model 'officially' is inherently unfair in a tournament or even social club environment. While it is cool to have that model and you can still use it in an agreement or in a casual game in a matched paly environment it would be not consistent as access is not wildly available.

While I don't agree with the limited availability causing scarcity, (I am a FEC player so trust me I understand this as I still can't buy an official AAR model without paying extortionate prices). I feel this move is a fair one while sad for the minority who own it.

  17. FAQ is up and we have the following changes for the people who just want to know the cold facts

    AKoTG up 20 points

    AAR up 40 points

    Horrors down 10 points

    Endless spells

    Chalice up to 50

    Barricade up to 40

    Stampede up to 70

Expected rises. Had to rejig my meeting engagements list to get everything in.

    What's everyone else's thoughts?

@Blisterfeet Well, my scene is varied but has a core group of competitive players.. I've just been tired of running standard FeC and dominating the League so I wanted to switch it up with something more fun. Nothing better than 3 TG's, a GKoZD and Arkhan Gristlegore\Feast Day list. Until that rumored TK remake, they'll probably be my only Death army.

I've seen a lot of people suggesting that or tomorrow as some other FAQ's have dropped on Mondays rather than over the weekend.. so we'll see. I really can't see them waiting another 2 weeks for an FAQ, but rather get them out beforehand in time for that tournament. Honestly, I'm more concerned for my Skaven changes than FeC, but both will be interesting to see.

Yeah I got in late to the FEC party so luckily my scene is not sick of playing them as most of us are new from 40k.

I hope it is soon and I feel for you with skaven and FEC you are bound to have a shake up in lists if not both. Weren't you hoping to switch back to the rat god's? Or was that someone else.

  19. 2 hours ago, Gwendar said:

Funnily enough for me it ends up being my unmounted TG\ZD that roll poorly, especially when I FF. I can't tell you how many times I've FF'd to finish off a unit, only to kill 1 more model.

By the way, I think I'm taking Arkhan at 2k just for the potential satisfaction of Curse of Years going off. Otherwise I may end up giving Deadwatch a go finally. I'm a bit surprised we didn't get the faq this weekend.. I really expected it to be 2 weeks after the GHB like everything else. I'm really curious to see what happens.

I'm thinking Arkhan in my 2000 list and Deadwatch because I like flayers and don't play in ultra competitive scene. Also my mate has given me some nighthaunt unpainted so want to expand into LoG or LoN list.

As for FAQ I'm thinking a day before the Warhammer meeting engagement tournament, with the last model just packed snugly in the box and me happy with my final list 😂😂👍

  20. Just wanting to add to the last few comments with evidence. I am a complete beginner to painting and was disheartened by results with normal paints and eventually was *hangs in shame* a player who just played unpainted with friends.

Since contrast came out I now finished my first army (without using far more experienced friends) and it was a breeze with much better results than I have got using a wide variety of normal paints.

I used the contrast spray and paint combo the only thing I found was to get a deeper shade of the used colour multiple coats are needed. Other than that I was happy with how quickly I could finish them and how they dried.20190702_205354.jpg.46dd6c414377547e68adc4719622eec3.jpg20190702_205303.jpg.9db1d832e305ce4d064c83d4eae05b54.jpg20190702_205013.jpg.93f85787bbbeb9e6d403b2692a9385a3.jpg

  21. @XReN @ReAnimate Studios just finishing my army (with 30 ghouls) with contrast paint.

I have found contrast a joy to work with being not the most skilled painter and the end results once you get the hang of using it are quite good.

I also like using contrast and then picking details out with base/layer on bigger models speeds up the process.

Just got a AKoTG, 2 Varghiests and Charnel Throne to finish for GW tourny end of month.

Only maximum 1/4 units can be allied. It would be legal as allegiance: order though.

I do like some KO with my slayers too to help with movement, and skyriggers can shoot some too which I like.

Now it seems fyreslayers' weaknesses are low movement, weak shooting, no wizards. Another option might be instead to run Vostarg Lodge for the increases to movement, then grab a battalion for an extra artifact that helps/mitigates spells or unbinds.

Thank you for this, would you recommend any particular artifacts?

Also would you say Fyreslayers with KO is a better mix?
