  8. If "fine by that" meant, storming through Shyish, abandoning the war in rage to hunt down Nagash, accidentally freeing the Carrion King hence unleashing the Flesh Eater Courts ... yeap
  9. have to completely disagree here, sorry Would preface this by saying that I'm an averagely (closer to bad) player. There's some of us who prefer to run lists we like, rather than optimum lists. I run Eidolon of the Sea, because it's cool. What constitutes as fun is different for each hobbyist. I could run a netlist and do decently, but in the end of the day I won't have any fun with it. I rather run my list and play a more casual game.
  10. just popping in to say I really hate this idea on different levels. 40K is a good precedence where I don't really enjoy the game as there's really just 7 "real" factions in the game (Imperium, Chaos, Tao, Necrons, Orks, Tyranids, Eldar). suddenly to play the game, for example you'll need a Guard book, a Blood Angels book, a Knights book, a custodes book depending on meta? it's not entirely translatable but the general idea is that it's impossible to balance for a single sub-faction (say Stormcast). Blood Angels have been consistently nerfed because one stratagem and one model is considered broken in Mixed Soup. I like the diversity of AOS, where every army has something different. I think allies is a good compromise, small enough it allows for special flavour without taking away the key piece of the main army. I wish 40K would do it the AOS way.
  11. I think all these "GW bad at balancing games" needs some balanced view. First of all, GW may well be "bad" at balancing their games. Actually I don't know if that statement is even true. How many games do the most hardcore 10% play a week? Is the hobby 90% playing 10% painting or more the other way around? Chess players plays daily, multiple times a day. Some games, meta changes even when there's no patches for a while, why do you think that's the case? Would it be (shocking) possible that it's both sides of the coin? It's impossible to "balance" the game, because no one can measure if the game is balanced? There's no visibility on actual players playing certain meta. This is not chess where you have a fixed set of pieces where you can run various strategies and replay multiple different moves. Most of the strategies are in your head and the combinations are endless. Even the top tier players don't get enough practice to accurately say "they've worked out every variation of every combination against every army - and this is the optimum solution". Even an ancient game like GO, Alpha managed to invent new moves; partly because the pre-established moves are so ingrained (the meta) that people can't think outside the box. More so in tabletop games, who has actually tested Grimghasts multiple times to death against every army, work out they are good before going off and buying 30? Probably a few, but most people will just listen (read on this forum for example) on what's good, then take stock in more experienced players .. who likely only play once a week. I am sure there's a lot more uptake on namarti corps this month and we did in previous year combined, did they suddenly work it out themselves it's pretty good? The book and points haven't changed ... Not defending GW, but I don't think it is "fair" to say GW are bad at balancing games if we cannot measure where the balance is. 4 move checkmate must look like a broken move until you actually learn chess... for example.
  12. I think most BOC players will tell you that the Herdstone is probably one of the more dysfunctional scenery pieces out there. You still need to be around it to sacrifice your ungors, the buff itself runs contrary to an army that just wants to get up the field and smash face.
  13. why is KoS a no brainer as a Nighthaunt general? I've always ran Dreadblade Harrow as general
