  1. Hi, this is my take on a Soulstrike Brotherhood army. I usually run an Aquilor+Hunters+Palladors list, so for 120 points, two small units of Castigators (which are bad but a bit better with the bonus) and a Ballista I already wanted to field, I get a CP and the additional artifact. I wanted to try Anvils with Longstrikes, I know I would get a lot more mileage from a bigger unit, but I will likely use the CA in the combat units beyond turn 1. I think it's an interesting list, biased towards shooting but with some magic and CC punch into the mix. Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals - Stormhost: Anvils of the Heldenhammer  Leaders Lord-Aquilor (200) - General - Mount Trait: Aethereal Stalker Lord-Arcanum on Tauralon (340) - Mount Trait: Steel Pinions Lord-Relictor (100) Battleline 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (120) - Boltstorm Pistols and Shock Handaxes 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (120) - Boltstorm Pistols and Shock Handaxes 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows - 1x Shockbolt Bows Units 3 x Castigators (80) 3 x Castigators (80) 3 x Vanguard-Palladors (200) - Boltstorm Pistols and Starstrike Javelins 5 x Evocators (200) 3 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows(180) War Machines Celestar Ballista (100) Battalions Soulstrike Brotherhood (120) Total: 2000 / 2000 2x Hunters, 2x Castigators and the Celestar Ballista on the sky, rest on the ground. My questions for you are: -What would be better for that list, Lord Relictor or Castellant? Relictor would have Blessed Weapons (to buff Palladors before they teleport, Longstrikes or Judicators) and could heal someone brought back by Cycle. Lord Castellant would bring the hound to help guard the backline from deepstrikes, and use his lantern on one of the redeploying units (Lord Aquilor, Palladors), on the LAoT before he goes forward or on the backline units. Both sound useful. -Who should get the crappy artifact? Then, which one would you recommend for the other? Please, if possible, no Lens. I'm already sick of seeing it in lists 😆. In fact, please don't suggest Realms artifacts (I hate that they are usually clearly better than Battletome ones). -What spell sounds better for the LAoT? Thundershock sounds potentially powerful for close-range support. Stormcaller to put pressure on lone heroes is also cool. Celestial Blades could help my few CC units, and Speed of Lightning could be useful (but for a single turn, when my CC units drop). Thanks for any help! I think this kind of collective thought helps us all to polish the potential of the army.
  2. Hi all! Recently started playing and painting a stormcast vanguard chamber force. I really enjoy the look and feel of the newer models! So far I have the following1k force built: Lord-Aquilor Knight-Venator 2x5 Hunters 3x Palladors 3x Lonstrike Raptors In terms of painting, I'm currently working on gryph chargers and absolutely loving them - making it up a bit as I go along but they are really stretching me and making me try new things. Here's how the one with the most work done to it looks: Looking forward to getting this one finished - the other 2 and Aquilor shouldn't be too far behind 😁
  3. Hi all, As a break from a larger Dark Eldar collection (which is itself a break from a Blood Angels legionary army...) I've started a Vanguard chamber. The aim is a smaller force than my prior death log on here (the Ophidian empire) - looking at 1500 worth, along with the odd bit I fancy painting for fun (mistweaver?). Likely a unit of Palladors, a couple of units of hunters, some birds and shooty stuff and done. It's inspired by buying Neave Blacktalon separately, and having had so much fun painting it so far, I looked into the army book, made another purchase... and now that's it. Progress on Neave so far, and my second miniature/general (boxed). Aim is to buy/build a unit at a time - as a reward, to prevent 'half-finished' syndrome and to stop the volume from becoming overwhelming. This approach worked well in keeping disciplined during my undead project. On Neave - I'm trying a variant scheme based on a tip I had from Dan Latham a few years ago. Using reds and browns for shading. Started with chaos black, then a scorched brown layer, then 60/40 gold/brown, then gold, then 50/50 gold/steel for my layers Done a baal red shade, in recesses only but quite heavy, followed by agrax (lesser). Next up a dark black/brown before the higlights start to really get some depth. Probably will accidentally overdo this step and mess the miniature up somewhat! Will them move past the basic layers done on the other part and finish up, likely an hour or so a night til the end of the week. Think mixing 50/50 or so gold and steel really works as a layer. Leads to better coverage and a lighter gold that catches the light better than the 'official' Hammers of Sigmar scheme (as on the below box art). The red recess shades makes it warmer again without losing that brightness. You'd normally expect paler golds to have a greener tint, the red makes it more naturally unnatural in a way - perfect for sigmarite. For basic troops I may cave in and do the basic reikland flesh-shade wash to save time, unsure yet, this hasn't been the most time-consuming miniature to paint and I'm only look at about 40 miniatures in the army, max. .

    Help: SC Vanguard list

    Hello everyone! My friends and I started playing AoS a while ago and I played a few games with the Stormcast from the starter box. Now I'd like to run a Vanguard heavy list because they just look so cool and seem very interesting. So here's what i came up with: Lord-Aquilor (200) Neave Blacktalon (120) Lord-Celestant On Dracoth (220) - Tempestos Hammer & Thundershield Units 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (140) 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (140) 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (140) 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (140) 3 x Vanguard-Palladors (220) 3 x Vanguard-Palladors (220) 6 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows (360) 1 x Gryph-Hound (40) 3 x Aetherwings (60) => 2000 Points What do you think? Is this any good? What would you change? Please let me know!

    Order Army with Vanguard SC

    I have a problem, I love Stormcast, I like their lore, their aesthetics, their mounts and everything they have. However, when I finally decided to buy, mount and paint I found that it is hard for me to continue painting them. For example, except for small differences my archers have the same armor as my infantry and I get the feeling of having painted the same miniature for two weeks. I understand that it is something normal, almost all the armies share an aesthetic among their miniatures so instead of blaming the game I am thinking about changing a bit. Right now I have two Vanguard-Hunters squads and one Lord Aquilor. I am hesitating between buying some other army to vary a bit (Ironjawz, Khorne, or Slaves maybe, I like a lot of armies) or take advantage of my minis and play Order instead of Stormcast. I'm pretty bad at making lists and my group is not too competitive but do you have any advice or any idea what units could come with my Vanguard in an Order army? Thanks in advance.

    1000 pts SE Vanguard list

    So I'm real newbie when it comes to gaming so I would love some input on this list I've thought up. I love the Vanguard models so I wanted to start out with a 1k vanguard list and I've noticed they don't seem to be a popular choice for competitive list but I wanted to see if a semi-competitive list were at all possible. Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Heroes: Lord-Aquilor (200) - General - Command trait: Staunch Defender - Artefact : Spellshield - Gryph-Charger Trait : Keen-clawed Units: 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (140) 5 x Vanguard-Hunters (140) 3 x Vanguard-Palladors (220) 3 x Vanguard-Palladors (220) 3 x Prosecutors with Stormcall Javelins (80) - 1 x Stormsurge Tridents Total: 1000/1000 I don't feel the need to be fully Vanguard but I kinda like Aquilor, Pallador and hunter trio so I will try to keep those. Perhaps one could remove one unit of Palladors and the Prosecutors for something else but as I said I'm a really in-experienced player so I'm not clear on my armies weaknesses and needs so I would some experienced input on that.     Let's Get Cracking.

    Hey all. Thanks for moseying on over and taking a gander. On the advice of the all-powerful Ben Curry, he of The Bad Dice Daily Podcast fame, I am starting a little blog here. The hope is putting my thoughts and efforts here will motivate me to continue pushing toward my ultimate goal - completing an army. I have been playing Warhammer for about 8 years now, exclusively with close friends and family. Never having played at a tournament and being in such a relaxed environment, there's never been any pressure to complete an army. I started with Dark Elves and Ogre Kingdoms back in 8th Edition. I would guess I got about 60-70% of both armies painted to a table-top standard. I had a lot of fun playing both of those armies. Had a fair amount of fun painting them, too. Particularly the Ogres - painting the 21st through 30th Witch Elves got to be a bit of a chore. But in both cases, life happened, I lost steam and they sat unfinished. A career change right after the completion of the End Times took me away from the hobby for about 18 months. Once I got re-settled, I began reading about Age of Sigmar and what people thought. I was intrigued. I enjoyed 8th Edition, but the games could be a bit tedious. I liked that AoS was streamlined and the cost-of-entry wasn't so steep. I toyed around with the idea of using my Dark Elf and Ogre Kingd- er, Aelf and Ogor models - for a bit. But once I saw the Ironjawz release, good ol' Gee-Dubs had me hook, line and sinker. I bought a Start Collecting box, a Megaboss and Weirdnob straight away and got painting. I really enjoyed painting the heroes. The Megaboss in particular was a joy to paint. The Gore Gruntas are amazing models, but they are soul-suckingly difficult to paint. After I tackled them, I settled in to paint the Ardboyz. I finished both units, but I my hobby engine was running on fumes at that point. This was back in the Summer. Since then, I've added a Maw Crusha, 3 more Gruntas and 20 Brutes. The Maw Crusha is finished, and I'm pretty proud of it. But again, it was such an awesome model, I couldn't NOT paint it. 5 of the Brutes are mostly done...but that's where it's stopped. I do plan on coming back to them, but I have a serious case of Ironjawz fatigue at the moment. Which brings us to the nonce! Thanks to TGA member @Kuma, I was able to trade for a decent start to a Stormcast army. I got 2 Lords Celestant on Dracoth, 10 Judicators and 10 Liberators for some old Tomb Kings stuff I was never going to use. Through the magic of eBay, I was also able to procure a Lord Relictor. Talk about the stars aligning: this happened right before the Vanguard stuff all began to drop, so since then I've added 6 Raptors, a box of Palladors and a Lord Aquillor. I love the potential of this army. Also, the fact that GW is unlikely to let this faction languish without support for any appreciable amount of time is quite appealing. I am resolved to make this the first army I will finish. The fluff and aesthetic of the Anvils of the Heldenhammer were way too cool to pass up, so that's the route I'm going to go. I've just settled into painting and have done up a test model - a Liberator - in this fashion. And so, the race to 2000 points of painted Stormcast is on! That's all for this evening I guess.   12. So I was playing around with the idea for this list. Not really designed to be competitive, more just for amusing play with my friends. The Bloodhorde Leaders: Aspiring Deathbringer - General (Grants +1 to attacks to all Khorne Mortal units within 6") Bloodstoker or Skullgrinder(?) (Either get more reliable charge move and re-roll 1's to wound OR get a far less reliable but potentially devastating boost to the amount of wound rolls I'd put out) Bloodsecrator (Offers protection from magic while negating battleshock and grants double bonus to Reaver's attack plus a single +1 to everyone else's attacks). Slaughterpriest (Potentially draws units in to be unwillingly mulched by the horde and provides ranged support to soften up targets as well). Battleline: Bloodreavers (20) (The meat....) Bloodreavers (20) (... and potatoes) Blood Warriors (5) (Would either move freely of the blob or skim the perimeter to engage threats against important pieces, would work with Khorgorath). Behemoth: Chaos Warshrine (Potentially grants Re-rolls to hits for Khorne Mortals and gives 6+ save to all units in addition to armor saves, also grants Totem bonus to Bloodreavers in lieu of Bloodsecrator, should he fall). Other: Khorgorath (1) (Works with Blood Warriors or alone as a potential distraction). 1000 Points Basically a giant bloody death star, with all of the units piled in around the Aspiring Deathbringer General and the Warshrine, with the Bloodsecrator using the Shrine to hide from view. Blood Warriors and Khorgorath would essentially operate as one unit and would move freely from the blob or engage anything that might threaten the Bloodsecrator. Not sure if I should go with the 'Stoker to get a reliable wound re-roll and charge, or risk it on the 'Grinder to get a potentially devastating amount of wound rolls (especially given the amount of +1's to attack the 'Reavers will be getting from the General and Bloodsecrator). Also, instead of Blood Warriors and a Khorgorath, should I go with 5 Wrathmongers? With the amount of attacks I'd be putting out anyways, their might not be anything left of an attacking unit to worry about my opponent getting a boost.
