  3. Hey all. I got a box of Thunderstrike brotherhood gifted from a friend and it will become my first army. Found a nice article from SpikeyBits on how to make the most out of the set. I bought some bits from ebay and this is what I'll end up with: 10 Liberators (2 with greathammers) 3 Prosecutors (javelins and a trident and shields) 5 Retributors (2 with maces) Lord Relictor Lord Celestant on dracoth (with a shield) Now I need about 200 points of something to add and I need your help. I was thinking something with magic? In the article he mentions the Anointed..looks pretty decent. I personally like Neave, but she might not bring what I need to this list. Me and my friend both agreed that 1040 is acceptable, because that's what he can make as well.
  4. Hello, I am currently looking to field an elite style 1000 point army. I am mainly looking at nurgle but thunderscorn are also a possibility. I really don't have time to paint tons of units so I definitely want to keep the model count as low as possible while still being effective and legal. Some ideas I have had are Lord of afflictions (general) Gutrot spume Chaos lord on manticore with mark of nurgle 1 unit pusgoyle blight lords 1 unit blightkings and 2 Gutrot Spume (General) Horticulous Slimux 3 Blightkings 1 Beast of nurgle Before I get eviscerated, let me say I have not played table top. I have collected and painted models for a while simply because I enjoy that. My friend and I plan to play very casually but enjoy the matched play setup. These armies are based on units that have seemingly cool abilities and good stat lines for me, and models that I enjoy. Any help is appreciated
  5. Hi everyone I'm wanting to get into AoS and it has been probably a good 15+ years since I've played any sort of warhammer so I figure I am coming into it as a complete newbie again. After looking over all of the various models I have fallen in love with the Stormcast Eternals and was looking for some advice on whether my planned out starter army is decent. I'm looking to have fun and be somewhat balanced so that I can both win and lose Also a question for stuff like Staunch Defender, does the entire unit need to be within the 6" of the Castellant or just a single model for the bonus to apply? Finally any suggestions/tips/ideas on how I would build this out to a 2000 point list? I'm pretty lost with the battalion stuff and as far as looks go about the only models I really don't like are the Vanguard Hunters. Love pretty much everything else however. This is what I am thinking about starting with: Lord-Castellant (100) - General - Command Trait : Staunch Defender - Artefact : Mirrorshield - Mystic Light : Lantern of the Tempest Lord -Relictor (80) - Prayer : Bless Weapons 10 x Liberators (200) -Warhammers - 2 x Grandhammers 10 x Liberators (200) -Warhammers - 2 x Grandhammers 5 x Judicators (160) -Skybolt Bows 5 x Judicators (160) -Skybolt Bows 3 x Prosecutors with Stormcall Javelins (100) - 1 x Stormsurge Tridents
  6. First of all thank you for reading this!! So I picked up some units back before GHB17 and just started to assemble them now I have: 2 x 2 Mournfang Pack (320) 1 x 3 Icefall Yhetees (120) Frostlord on Stonehorn (460) Total: 900/1000 This was my original list before the point changes. After GHB17 this leaves me with 100 spare points. This change along with the nerf to Stonehorn (Stone Skeleton being applied after each individual wound) Makes me think I need some changes. ONE important thing is that I have not assembled my Frostlord on Stonehorn. With the pieces I have I can assemble either a Frostlord or Huskard on either Stonehorn or Thundertusk. I was thinking maybe assembling a Huskard and adding in another Mournfang which would total 980 points. Two main questions: 1. What do you guys think is stronger with the new changes Stonehorn or Thundertusk??? 2. What other destruction/ogre units would be a good addition to fill up my extra points here? Thank you so much guys I really appreciate anything you can do for me
  7. Hey guys my first time list building and buying models. I really like the empire and free people but I would like to know what's competitive before I go out there buying whatever I feel like. Here's the current list I was thinking about running with. I am currently just looking to build a 1k list to get into the game but that may be a subject to change. Order: Heroes: Freeguild General (100) Battleline: 30 Handgunners (300) 10 Guards (80) Units: 10 Guards (80) 5 Pistoliers (140) Artillery: Cannon (180) Battalion: State Troop Detachment (120) 1000/1000 points The basic Idea: so it's my first list so I'm not quite sure what I'm doing but my basic Idea was to use my battalion and general bonuses in order to buff my handgunners to be total beasts. The cannon is there in case the enemy is trying to out range me staying away from the handgunners. The pistoliers are only there for the battalion but the mobility is probably very useful. Alright so a few questions I have: 1. I was thinking of getting a Hurricanum would this unit be useful for a 1000pt army or not? 2. Is my battalion really that much of a bonus for me or would it be best to replace it with 2 Witch Hunters, maybe a warrior priest? 3. People say guards are a nice defense for a frontline but how about using Demigryph Knights? Thank you very much guys I am really looking forward to some feedback
  8. Hi so I am new to playing warhammer and it seems like something really cool that I want to get into. I want to start off playing a 1k army (2k is a bit too expensive for me rn) and was wondering if the list I was considering is competative. Death Allegiance. 1 Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400pts) 30 Crypt Ghouls (300pts) 1 Vampire Lord (140pts) 1 Necromancer (120pts) For a total of 960 points. No battalion. Was just wondering if there are any important details I'm missing or if this would be a good investment to start playing and hopefully even do tournaments using general rulebook. Thanks! Ps: Also wondering if there are any good list building guides out there that somebody could give me a link for

Idk if urbaz is the best choice
  10. I have a small collection of Stormcast, the Lord Castellant, 20 Liberators and 10 Judicators. I've only got those for my Guardians of Alarielle formation, which I've not had the chance to use yet! I've never really been keen on Stormcast but playing against a friend yesterday, they seem like they've got some really interesting rules now! I've got a 1000 point tournament in 3 weeks, we're playing on a 4x4 board so I'm wondering if you guys can help? Do Stormcast suffer at 1000 point games on a small board? What would you guys add to what I've got to make a fun, potentially even semi-competitive list? And is there advice on how Stormcast play? Liberators, as good as they are, just seem to disappear in squads of 5 thanks for any help
  11. Greetings fellow denizens of Shyish! Me and my friend have been throwing around ideas for a doubles Death army ??(no actual event in mind as of yet, although looking at the Warhammer world battle brothers next year) and we have come up with the following list/lists. Can we get some feedback on them please? ? We don't want to go mega hard, or looking to do a WAAC type list, just somthing that is mildly competitive, but fun to play with. My half is themed around Mousillon. The general idea being that the necromancer, in service of Arkhan, has raised up an ancient crypt deep in Shyish. The wight king will be themed as a Brettonian Lord, and the Tomb Banshee either a Lady or Damsel. I've attached a pic of my first 10 skeletons, aiming to get everything in that sort of theme. (sorry for the awful quality!) My half: Necromancer - 120 Wight King - 120 Tomb Banshee - 80 Skeletons x 20 - 160 Skeletons x 20 - 160 Black Knights x 10 - 240 Spirit Hosts x 3 - 120 1000 points Friends Half: Arkhan 20 Skeletons 20 Skeletons 5 Hexwraiths Mortis Engine 1000 points
  12. Hi guys, I been painting for many years but only recently started playing warhammer, because the rules of AOS are simpler. I play stormcast and lost 14 matches and won 3, people say they are very overpowered and that might be true, because I am not a good army builder. I lost a bit of the love I have for my army because of all the loses, so my friends suggested this forum for advice. I havent build my perfect army yet, and I am aiming for this combo. LeadersLord Castellant (100)Lord Relictor (80)UnitsLiberators x 10 (200)- WarhammersJudicators x 5 (160)- Skybolt BowsProsecutors with Stormcall Javelins x 6 (160)Fulminators x 2 (240) ( I thought about tempestors, because of the synergy with relictor-2 to hit.) (concussors because of more damage and reaching 980/1000) insted of 940 Total: 940/1000 LeadersLord Castellant (100)Lord Relictor (80)UnitsLiberators x 5 (100)- WarhammersJudicators x 10 (320)- Skybolt BowsProsecutors with Stormcall Javelins x 6 (160)Fulminators x 2 (240)Total: 1000/1000 I loose 5 liberators and gaining 5 judicators and there-by exactly hitting 1k. I also thought about getting celestant on foot into the mix, but not sure how. I have really strong feelings, for prosecutors so a list without them is not doable for me. Many of my lists include 10 liberators, because they synergy well with castellant, but are 10 liberators needed for 1k? Any comments or tips would be greatly appreciated and I apoligise in advance for my english.
  13. Hey guys, I'm attending a tournament later this month and would appreciate some pointers for playing Stormcast at 1k. Here's the list I was thinking of: Lord Cellestant Lord Castellant Liberators x 5 (hammer and shield) Liberators x5 (hammer and shield) Judicators x5 (x-bows) Protectors x5 Retributions x5 I don't currently own the Castellant, but am thinking he might be worth it for the buffs? I'm also slightly concerned at the lack of magic. If someone hero snipes me, then there is literally nothing I can do. Thoughts?
  14. So I was playing around with the idea for this list. Not really designed to be competitive, more just for amusing play with my friends. The Bloodhorde Leaders: Aspiring Deathbringer - General (Grants +1 to attacks to all Khorne Mortal units within 6") Bloodstoker or Skullgrinder(?) (Either get more reliable charge move and re-roll 1's to wound OR get a far less reliable but potentially devastating boost to the amount of wound rolls I'd put out) Bloodsecrator (Offers protection from magic while negating battleshock and grants double bonus to Reaver's attack plus a single +1 to everyone else's attacks). Slaughterpriest (Potentially draws units in to be unwillingly mulched by the horde and provides ranged support to soften up targets as well). Battleline: Bloodreavers (20) (The meat....) Bloodreavers (20) (... and potatoes) Blood Warriors (5) (Would either move freely of the blob or skim the perimeter to engage threats against important pieces, would work with Khorgorath). Behemoth: Chaos Warshrine (Potentially grants Re-rolls to hits for Khorne Mortals and gives 6+ save to all units in addition to armor saves, also grants Totem bonus to Bloodreavers in lieu of Bloodsecrator, should he fall). Other: Khorgorath (1) (Works with Blood Warriors or alone as a potential distraction). 1000 Points Basically a giant bloody death star, with all of the units piled in around the Aspiring Deathbringer General and the Warshrine, with the Bloodsecrator using the Shrine to hide from view. Blood Warriors and Khorgorath would essentially operate as one unit and would move freely from the blob or engage anything that might threaten the Bloodsecrator. Not sure if I should go with the 'Stoker to get a reliable wound re-roll and charge, or risk it on the 'Grinder to get a potentially devastating amount of wound rolls (especially given the amount of +1's to attack the 'Reavers will be getting from the General and Bloodsecrator). Also, instead of Blood Warriors and a Khorgorath, should I go with 5 Wrathmongers? With the amount of attacks I'd be putting out anyways, their might not be anything left of an attacking unit to worry about my opponent getting a boost.
  15. I thought I'd put the recent army let I've got and my intentions for its growth on here for people to comment on. Using the Generals Compendium, I currently have 1360 points of death models I can select a force from. TOTAL Ld/Be. Arkhan the Black DEATHLORD 340 bl. Black Knights 5 DEATHRATTLE 120 bl. Black Knights 5 DEATHRATTLE 120 bl. Skeletons (spears) 10 DEATHRATTLE 80 . Grave Guard (great blades) 10 DEATHRATTLE 80 Ld. Wight King (infernal banner) DEATHRATTLE 120 Ld. Necromancer DEATH MAGE. 120 Ld. Wight King (sword) DEATHRATTLE 120 Ld. Vampire Lord SOULBLIGHT 140 Ld. Banshee MALIGNANT. 120 I'd like to get a second Banshee for its shooting attack but can't really afford even more Leadership slots being used up. I'd like to expand the Skeletons to two squads of 20. The Grave Guard I'd like a second squad armed with shields and getting survivability buffs. I find they don't do a lot of damage but they could perhaps stand and take a pounding and refresh themselves. i'm looking at getting some bases of Spectres for similar reasons. In terms of synergy though this is disparate factions all under the Grand Alliance Death banner, rather than the general enhancing the Death Rattle who in turn enhance the malignant who are all reflecting powers onto the Soul Blight character. No. It's all a bit bitty and a car with grating, clunking gear changes. In Matchplay. As Christmas approaches there may be books that remedy these factions or add rule bonuses. But until then.....
