  1. I figure its a very good way to help reinforce taking the Cities specific models and not ending up with a stormcast army with a hydra. It's neat ideas like that which have helped, in my view, save AoS from the soup problems that plague 40K. Even though in theory AoS has even more soup potential, the way its undertaken really doesn't reward it so heavily. It becomes an optional fun part of the game rather than a core powergame
  2. Also their endless spells always count as empowered by their various realms. That sounds like instead of getting their own endless spells they are getting the universal ones powered up all the time as compensation!
  3. Updated with a link to details about missing chaos models on Forgeworld and also dates on the new confirmed battletomes.
  4. Currently the demons tab for both 40K and AoS is missing a LARGE number of the demon models from Forgeworld. These models are still for sale, but currently hidden in the Horus Heresy segment under the "Demons of the Ruinstorm" listing. This includes all the demon heralds and princes by FW as well as the large Exalted Greater Demon models. https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/The-Horus-Heresy?N=191608925+3231708598&Nr=AND(sku.siteId%3AGB_fw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen_GB_fw)&Nrs=collection()%2Frecord[product.startDate+<%3D+1569245280000+and+product.endDate+>%3D+1569245280000]&view=all In addition I emailed FW about this and got the following reply Which is a lot to say "I don't know what's going on". This could just be a miss-listing and whoever listed the Ruinstorm pulled the tags for the other games at the same time by accident. Regardless its hidden those models for a while from the other games. So I hope we can highlight that the awesome sculpts are still there and still up for sale at this point in time.
  5. Did Fimir have an army in GW? I know Dogs of War and Kisleve appeared and vanished though I believe with Dogs that was partly also at the same time GW was running down fantasy as a whole. In general it is more as you say - bits of armies vanish. However most of the time those bits vanish new bits appear alongside. So it can be a right pain to see a model go, but at the same time there's typically a new toy to play with alongside it so the sting isn't as bad. It's nothing like the sudden wholesale removals we've seen with AoS in general.
  6. I think they could work without being too complex, but yes some areas of the game still need shoring up before adding more mechanics. Areas like terrain still feel like they have room to be improved.
  7. It's always really hard to tell what is a pet project and what is commissioned and what goes on behind the closed doors of GW. It might surprise us how many things are pet projects and only exist because of one or two staff pushing them.
  8. I've said it as a target purely from marketing purposes - Christmas being a time of high sales volume it makes sense to have it as a major target for the year. If all of AoS was equipped with battletomes then it maximises GW's potential profit earning over that period. Even KO and Seraphon players will still be encouraged to spend (or start new armies) because they've got Battletomes and thus a solid future in the game. So yes I'd have expected that to be a consideration for GW. Right now from what we've got confirmed and near confirmed it already looks like we'll hit christmas with only Slaves to Darkness/Everchosen without a battletome and it could well be that before the Sylvaneth delay (which knocked things about a month from what I recall reading) Slaves were set for a near Christmas release. That might well have pushed things and GW might have swapped slaves around with another force etc... They might also have shifted other things about too, we've no idea.
  9. Honestly considering the timing for what is left of this year Tzeentch getting an update makes more sense for being a simple release; but Slaves makes more sense in a "hitting christmas with the whole of AoS having battletomes".
  10. Honestly I can see GW removing marauders and replacing them with the Warbands from Warcry - the warbands being far more dynamic and moderm plus coming with specific flavours for the battlefield. IT also means that those bands will build direct from warcry into a Slaves army. It's easy to imagine getting two or three boxes of a single warband for Warcry and that's already taken you a good half or more on the way to a full unit of a few hundred points in AoS
  11. If they were going to remove the armies in Cities they would have just removed them outright by now. GW already removed TK, Bretonnia, Greenskins and most of the High Elf line. They have no problem removing stuff and right now as they shift into 2.0 is the best time to remove any stuff they don't want. So if they didn't want those forces they'd have just straight up removed them from the game now. 2.0 is AoS getting firmed up and built into a proper regular GW product line. From now on armies with 2.0 tomes can be expected to behave like regular armies in GW games - that means not removing whole armies and most removals of models will come with new models- these might be replacements (updated sculpt) or replacements within the army. Ergo mass removals should end. Of course nothing is set in stone, but prior to AoS GW does not have a track record of removing armies wholesale - the fact we call is Squatting and that was done decades ago suggests it. What we have seen more so removed are things like Imperial Guard flavoured factions where its the same army just with an alternative design - we saw more of that when they shifted off metal and it wasn't practical for them to keep those armies around when they were just alternate sculpts. So nope we shouldn't see the Cities of Sigmar vanish. WE might see them get major redesigns visually in style in the future; but otherwise they should not vanish. It would be very bad for GW to start that because it would unsettle ALL the 2.0 players.
  12. Slaves already got 6 boxes of new toys and 2 more to come from Warcry. I think most would be happy if Slaves just got a Tome to bring them up to standard within AoS and clean up the line and get past the "which models might vanish" hump. After that anything else (spells, terrain, new models, updated sculpts) is a bonus.
  13. I suspect that: 1) There might be one city that has a select range of stormcast models for inclusion outside of the allies limits. 2) There might be one or two battalions which, again, let you take stormcast outside of the allies limit. However whilst Stormcast are fighting side by side in the lore, I don't think GW will force Stormcast in everywhere. They haven't for the other Order forces and Cities already has a huge abundance of model choice.
  14. With a game with only 6 turns at most where its most likely going to take at least 1 turn to get into range to do anything with most units and where the 6th turn might not happen (game state won before that) then you've really only got 4 turns of full action. That does not leave much room to sit back and be passive. In fact in general if you're playing with objectives sitting back and being passive tends to fail. Plus sitting back would only work for one single turn - probably the first. If the game had a lot more turns and things were spread out more then doubleturn wouldn't be as bad. If the game ran with say 20 turns then having one or two doubles in there wouldn't swing things so much; but with only a 6 turn game where the last turn is likely going to be more of a mop up - so a practical 5 turns - getting to take two at once isn't just adding random to the game; it's providing a massive swing. I get the idea of increasing random to break up tactics, but in general double turn actually allows one player to maximise their maths efficiency. If they get the option then not only do they get another turn, but their maths and tactics get to actually happen exactly how they want with no negatives. Because now their opponent can't mess with their position or approach. It actually rewards more "risky" charging forward and aggressive play far more so if you get the doubleturn. Meanwhile if you held back and got it then you can still gain advantage. And there's an issue, its very hard to actually pass on a doubleturn. The vast majority of times its advantageous for a player to take a doubleturn first when they get the option. Adding more tactical elements to the game such as reactionary retreats and hunkering down/bracing for charging etc.. would be very neat features for the game to consider. Heck adding something like a pool of limited "opponent turn reaction points" which you could use to issue orders like "hunker down" "brace for impact" etc... such as give +1 save rolls or -1 to hit for charging opponent could be neat things to work with. They'd give an option to protect a unit during a turn and could be balanced with attack bonuses in your own turn etc... It would be something more engaging and tactical and based on choices rather than a doubleturn which in the end is purely a tactical choice based upon a single, unmodified roll of the dice.
  15. Well from the Nova there is still some Lord of the Rings stuff to come (such as the buildings if I recall right). There's also whatever it was for Necromunda that was hinted at but not full detailed released of. Then there's the Space Marine stuff. And that's the stuff we are fully aware of from the Nova and haven't forgotten. There might well be a few other things kicking around. GW might also do a slower week with fewer things coming out to balance out the production (a slower week before Bonereapers as they shift more factory and shipping into producing stock for them). Ogres aren't missing, their eariler marketing suggests that they are coming after Bonereapers. GW can indeed put Reapers up late, however I'd guess mid month if I'm being honest. They've also got to fit Sisters into November and they really don't want that hanging over into December.
  16. Yeah I'm kinda surprised how long GW has let things like that lag on in not getting their own individual release; esp since they've got their Battletome. Then again I'm more surprised that they've held the Flesheater model back this long. At least Skaven have A LOT of other options to buy. Flesheaters need every model they can get their festering ghoul claws on. In other news am I the only one hoping bonereapers gets pre-ordered on the 5th? (though really I'm expecting it on the 26th - October is going to be a long long month)
  17. I did think of going for a red hot look, but at the same time I wonder if there isn't a better theme. I have wondered about going all black with a hot red edge to the souls. Though in practice that might end up better a very dark green with red edge. The only bad news is that with the Two new Battletomes landing on the 5th of October this suggests that Reapers will very much be in the latter half of the month since I'd expect GW to split Tomes and Reapers with a 40K release or at least some specialist game releases.
  18. Yeah this new book is more of an easy reference copy than a replacement. Also don't forget a huge part of the big core book is full of lore and artwork so its not just rules; thus new book is just going to be a lot lighter and practical to use .
  19. Thread could also be titled "Overrread rambles about Bonereapers" but that doesn't sound quite as catchy. Anyway I've got great plans to start this new Death army and even though we don't even have a pre-order date for them yet (save for the release being within October) I'm still very eager to get some plans together and make a beginning on them! Thus far I've already picked up two boxes of Morghasts which have been featured several times in the photos for the Bonereapers and which are said to be in the book itself by GW. In addition to use also seeing Nagash on the back page photo (but no confirmation how he fits in) and Arkhan the Black, Mortarch of Sacrament who has not just been seen in the same photo, but also had part of his page of rules in the Battletome leaked (so he's 100% confirmed). I have to say that I've enjoyed putting together the Morghasts, a bit fiddly around the chest region to get started, but they are quite pleasing to put together. They fit together well and solid and I'm eager to convert them a bit to a standing pose instead of their "soul lifted flight" pose. I might also magnetize them, but thus far I'm leaving them only part built without arms, head and chestplate until such time as the actual rules come out and we can see how they fare. If you're interested you can find more morghast chatter here https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/23782-lets-talk-morghasts/ After that the other part of the army starting I've been pondering on is how to paint them up. There's loads of options here and my thoughts might well change upon seeing more art by others and also in the book itself. Right now though I'm thinking of: Bone armour - painting this in the standard yellowed bone colour that we see on most of the current product photos for the Bonereapers. However I'm not closed to the idea of using a coloured bone as well (Mannfreds scheme linked below is a strong influence on perhaps considering black bone as well) Internal Skulls - I wanted to paint these in a powerful glowing/bright colour to denote the lifeforce within them, but I don't want to go with the standard green. I was going to copy the same sort of reddish heat that GW uses for Mannfred https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Deathlords-Mortarchs-Mannfred However I wasn't quite a fan of the very reddish hue that they've gone for. Then I saw @SunStorm's eyes here https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/20843-the-forgeworld-owners-club/?do=findComment&comment=372183 and I liked it! It might just be that blazing internal heat that I'm after, though I might have to use one of the red contrast paints instead of Bloodletter Glaze (although I think I actually have a pot of that, but I don't want to end up committing to a scheme and running out of paint). Base with Averland Sunset, then Yriel yellow and then use bloodletter glaze as a wash around the eye Eyes - I don't want to copycat the red glow so I'm trying to think of another good colour to go with the theme. Right now I'm thinking a purple colour might work well - it stands out against the head of the internal body. Another option could be to go with a much more ruby/vibrant red. Armour plating segments - right now I'm thinking a copper/bronze colour for them. To me that gives a much more ancient feel to the armour whilst giving it a metallic aspect. A forging of bone and metal from an ancient age. Bone Armour - GW painters interestingly highlight some of the armour of the bone with a grey bone colour, as seen here https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/ImmortisOnWhite-WC1.jpg Right now I'm thinking on doing the same. For big things it really helps break up the model rather than having so much basic bone colour on show. On very big models it also gives a different colour to work into the creation. I'm not sure what colour to go for, I want to avoid black but a dark brown might suit. Regular weapons - steel, simple and effective colour for weapons, nothing fancy here Soul Weapons - totally unsure here as I'm not sure the greenish pallet that GW uses would work with a "fire soul" based set of internal skulls. I could mirror it with a red soul based approach. This would also bleed onto souls on the models too such as are shown on several Clothing tatters - a lighter brown leather colour. Decoration/guilt - Gold.
  20. Details about the Stormcast walls on show from Dakka user "just the Shattered Dominion set used in different ways along with wedding cake columns. The top of the walls are the sides of the Gryphstatue plinths and the column plinths for example it was shown at the open day"
  21. It's not that dire - its just cities and orruks are like many other AoS forces in need of updates, but just not getting a turn this time around. Don't forget Skaven only got 1 new model and they've got a huge legacy range of metals and finecasts to replace. Meanwhile Eldar from 40K needed a huge update and are only just getting the beginning of an update to their heavy finecast and old plastic. GW is sure to update most its just a case of wiating for them to have space and a slot to fit everyone in. Regardless the new book is a reason to celebrate as hopefully most of what is in will remain steadfast for the life of AoS; being replaced with upgraded designs in the future and if removed the only alongside GW adding new toys to play with. Once Slaves is out we can then really celebrate that the dark "model removal "era of AoS should be over!
  22. The best you'd get is a returned removed kit. At this stage Cities and Orruks are rescue/update Battletomes. New stuff comes in the form of sideways expansion into other forces allied to them through the new Tomes. So whilst there's nothing new, in theory, you can now get models from a wider range of armies into your army.
  23. Bonereapers are already confirmed to be the major October release with Sisters of Battle in November. Ogres thus far are expected to be well after Bonereapers and might even be after the Sisters of Battle too.
  24. It's either a mistake or relates only to the Middle Earth content. The article starts out specifically saying that next week was the preorder date and the video for Cities also confirms preorderon the 28th. Now it could turn into a 2 week pre-order, but considering the only "new" product are 2 getting started sets, scrolls and books I can't see as (at present) there's any volume there to really warrant a 2 week pre-order phase.
