  1. Man, I still remember nerding out and reading war scrolls minutes before leaving for a parade and trying to think how it all should match up. Heck, I think today or tomorrow is the fourth anniversary of the first AoS game I played (and getting stomped in) now i I got two full armies of heavy Calvary!
  2. I found with blood knights that my preferred way to play is heavy Calvary focused, and the image of fully mounted knights charging into infantry was something I absolutely loved since I saw the Rohan charge into orcs in the lord of the rings movies. plus, after Dan Abnett's run with aquaman and being a fanatic of pirates of the Carribian, sea based armies and creatures are one of my favorite themes. So an army combining these two favorites with eel knights became my favorite faction of AoS; an eel based Idoneth Deepkin army, the first fully painted, based and original AoS army I ever had.
  3. I'm counting on some previews for warhammer day, but I may be wrong. Gotta keep the hype train rolling after all!
  4. I don't really see it causing so much damage that the enemy has to rush her, but still 3-4 mortal wounds on the closest enemy with good positioning is just icing on the cake. Since I have an extra relic with the battalion I have been considering using the augury shells as well. Since it does not say it's only unbinding for her spells, I imagine I can use it to stop the unbinding of my archmage further down the field on a critical turn. i only wish I had ten points extra for a balewind, just to give her riptide ability some extra range too...
  5. I didn't know both opponents took turns placing terrain! I thought it was only faction specific terrain. that kinda makes me a little sad. Setting up the bored to tell little scenes I thought of while waiting for my paint to dry was a fun way to pass the time. I think I made pretty even battle fields, or at least made it look like a lived in part of the realms with some kind of story even while thinking of matched play games. Having to split up terrain placement like that kinda ruins that small part of the hobby for me. heck, before each game I always ask "does this terrain look fun/ fair?" Before we even start setting up armies. I think that's all it takes really.
  6. So, what do people think of having a tide caster shooting arcane corrosion from the back? I have a tide caster but since she cannot exactlt keep up with an all eel list I am planning on keeping her in the back corner to cover back objectives and plink off the closest units with mortal wounds.
  7. You mean I have to talk to my opponent as I set up a game?! Heresy! but, fair enough. Will try it sometime, but for now it's a neat thing. also those name generators... I think realm of plastic did a better job, but at least it's nice to see.
  8. So, I'm confused, and it may just be because I have no imagination... How are you supposed to use the raids and cities of death rules? they give a bunch of rules, but no actual battle plan where they would fit in unless you use the open war generation stuff. and speaking of open war, where are the old open war missions that are not CqC stuff?

  10. I think they mean like, 6 inches from scatter terrain or something. And it has to be more than 16 inches from the edge
  11. I think it is now you cannot place terrain within 6" of each other, but don't quote me on that. I mostly got that from the general discussion thread.
  12. Honestly the biggest change is going to be placing terrain for our shpwrecks. No more blocking movement lanes I think, just being annoying. I think it's time to buy those last two boxes of eels and completing the akhelian core
  13. They called a plumber to unclog those pipes and so far only managed to pull out the GHB19.
  14. Hey, that's the list I'm currently running! Leviadon, 2 squads of 6 morrsarr, 2 squads of 3 ishlaen, a shark, a king and a tide caster / archmage combo is what I'm planning on running at 2,000 points with dhom hain. Played one game with it so far and though I lost, it was due to me not understanding the mission and having terrible luck with the power orb. in fact, the turtle saved my king from a storm eidolon with his cover save bubble, and helped to kill him after the king swung. I lost the objective because I was stupid, but to be honest the big turtle isn't half bad.
  15. Honestly when I play at a 1,000 point level I always see high tide as a bonus. Sure, it would be nice to perfectly align myself to hit hard turn 3, but sometimes you just gotta play the game in the moment and react, hitting where you can and setting up for another attack later. I may need to practice it more to be honest, as I usually use flood tide as the more important turn to get where I want.
  16. True, and I haven't heard anything from guys who have their finger on the pulse of this about something like this so I dunno. Plus none of us actually played this, so we have no clue about how it will go.
  17. True, but most of the latest games with my akhelians I always had a few extra Cp's in the back pocket by the later turns. Using a few in turn one would go a long way to making ishlean a lot hardier turn 1, and they move fast enough for turn 2's run to be gravy. I dunno, I am just excited for them.
  18. I heard 2+ tough talk about them. I think one's re-rolling ones to hit in melee, one is re-rollling save rolls of one and One is rerolling hit rolls of one for shooting. Basically giving us stuff to do with our command points outside of turn 3.

  21. Any clue how if the archmage changed points? Really if the battalions didnt change points then I am fairly set for this next year. now I just gotta learn how to play these boys to their full potential... also, has anyone else tried arcane corrosion on a back field tide caster? And how do we feel about the new command abilities?
  22. The advantage with sharks is that they have rend outside of the charge with bite and fins, so they can possibly grind down a unit more than speels can (in theory.) I still feel like the shark should be around 100 points though, or at least modified to have two bite attacks and have the crew wound on a 3+ or something...
  23. As a dirty no good eel lover, I am happy that my favorite unit didnt get too much of a point raise. I just hope they don't lose battle line, and then my Dhom Hain Akhelian Core just needs two more boxes of eels and I would have a complete 2,000 point army. Still wish sharks and turtles got a bigger point drop, something like 80 to 100 points down on the turtle and 40 points from the sharks. Ah well, I still need to get a handle on these bois, as my local meta has some Really tactical players.... Also, any news on the tide caster and King going up or down in points? or the archmage?
  24. Honestly, It just wouldnt make sense if they did. Basically because it would both cut back on sales of their eels, and just by looking at other battletomes. (Like FEC getting terrorgheist Battleline but we can't get eels? Or fyreslayers getting Hearthguard Beserkers as battle line, and even Troggoths becoming battle line? )
