  1. While I won't argue that other armies could use a book more (like Slaanesh) Khorne has a lot of internal balance issues and pretty much plays by stacking modifiers to trigger 6+s which is a design decision GW is definitely moving away from. I suspect the new Khorne battletome is going to be a lot more than a couple extra rules tacked on to the existing one.
  2. My understanding, at least from when AoS launched, was that they we're wanting a system were they weren't committed to supporting a given army indefinitely. I think we will see armies armies, even ones released after the launch of AoS, retired to make way for new armies and Stormcast Chambers. That said I would think an army would stick around for at least 5 to 8 years minimum to prevent players from feeling too burned and army popularity would be a big factor too. In Fantasy GW felt constrained by endlessly supporting the same armies (or so I heard somewhere, several years ago) but that was over a 30 year timeframe.
  3. Oof, okay then yeah that's gonna be pretty brutal on a ghoul king on terrorgheist/zombie dragon.
  4. Isn't the new FEC character just giving out extra attacks to ghouls? At 4/4/-/1 those attacks aren't that great, you'd need a boatload of them to do real damage. On the other hand the Bloodsecrator can give his extra attack to a Bloodthirster. Not saying Khorne couldn't use some help (I think Khorne's internal balance is out of wack) but you need to be careful with direct comparisons.
  5. I'm going to take back my earlier statement about thinking rumors involving 10ish battletome releases this year being unrealistic. Its February and we're already at 3 now with this. I just hope Fyreslayers get an actual new unit kit or two. For Skaven and Flesh Eaters, I'm excited though their not a must buy for me. I've been wanting to get into Flesh Eaters but have found their lack of model variety off-putting. If they wind up getting zombies and corpse carts that might push me over. I'm curious to see how many of the resin/metal skaven kits make it into the new battletome.
  6. I haven't added up the points but Gore Pilgrims right? I think Skarr Bloodwrath is a hidden gem of Khorne. Having a model constantly popping up everywhere in an objective based game is just gravy. Side note: what do people think about the future of Blood Warriors? Would Gorefists still be worth taking if they get changed to the ones on Magore's Fiends where they only work on a save of 4+ (after rerolls and modifiers)?
  7. I know a guy who did that! He plays Idoneth now...
  8. I'm pretty sure GW wouldn't release an AOS starter box without Stormcast. That said, this is consistent with another rumor regarding the launch of Grand Alliance: Stormcast.
  9. @sambaker31 A guys won a local tournament in my area with the Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage with Gyrstrike and devastating blow. The BoIR with Gyrstrike has become a pretty standard item in Khorne tourney lists. He's 260 points plus an artifact (and you'll probably be running Gore Pilgrims so you'll have an extra) and he can destroy entire armies if left unchecked. Granted, he's fairly easy to kill but your opponent absolutely has to deal with him.
  10. I've heard there will be there 3 of them Helda Stormborne- Knight-Incantor that doesn't damage herself with flasks and also does d6 mortal wounds with her spirit storm spell. Costs 20 points more than a regular Knight-Incantor. Galiant Surefire-A Lord Aquilor that allows Vanguard-Hunters to shoot without los to their targets. Costs 20 points less than a regular Lord-Aquilor. The Champion of Heldenhmer- A mysterious character ala the Celestant-Prime but he's just a basic 5 wound 4+ save hero with a special ability that allows one unit of Liberators to reroll save rolls of 1 if they're equipped with shields or generate extra attacks on an unmodified hit roll of 6 if they're dual wielding. Costs 180 points and is GW's attempt to bring Liberators up to par with Sequitors. Expect them to come out in February as Rountree has been heard threatening executions if staff don't get another Stormcast release out soon.
  11. @Ndabreaker Have you heard anything about new Stormcast releases? I'm just morbidly curious :P.
  12. I think part of the issue with Khorne is the internal balance is off. The Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage with Gyrstrike and Gore Pilgrims are both quite good but take them away and Khorne's competiveness drops off A LOT.
  13. You might want to distinguish between 3 grades of battletome. The old no allegiance ability battletomes like Fyreslayers and Ironjawz. The "medium"? aged battletomes that have allegiance abilities but are clearly written for 1st edition like Blades of Khorne and Beastclaw Raiders. Finally the new battletomes that are written for 2nd edition with full allegiance abilities (Nurgle to current basically).
  14. Certainly could be. With 2nd edition it also makes more sense for them to do one week releases of updated battletomes too.
  15. I feel the battle tome rumors might be getting contaminated by wish listing at this point. Or I suppose we could just be looking at record AoS releases. So far I've heard loose rumors for: Fyreslayers (or combined duardin book) Blades of Khorne Seraphon Ironjawz "Light themed Elves"-these are rumored to be end of year/early next year though (Next year according to Ndabreaker) Gutbusters Based on recent releases/announcements there are strong rumors for Slaanesh Flesh Eater Courts Skaven Darkoath (coupled with Slaves to Darkness and Everchosen) Finally we have already had GloomSpite Gitz release this year. Last year we had Nurgle, Daughters of Khaine, Idoneth Deepkin, More Stormcasts, Nighthaunt, and Beasts of Chaos. I'm hopeful but skeptical of AoS getting 9 to 10 releases even with lighter, Beasts of Chaos style releases. Not to mention that while I haven't heard any rumors I'm suspicious of any annual release schedule that doesn't feature Stormcast Eternals. Edit: Updated with Ndabreaker's comments.
  16. Anyone every try running Pusgoyle Blightlords with the Harbinger of Decay for a 4+/5++/5+++? Save after the save abilities still stack right? I know they changed it in 40k but I haven't found anything against it in AoS.
  17. 1. My understanding is that it doesn't work for Plague Drones though correct me if I'm wrong. Please tell me I'm wrong... 2. I think it could be healed with Endless Gift but you could just heal him with Corpulent Mass in the same hero phase since you pick the order of abilities going off.
  18. My Blightkings would be so happy...They would need to rework Archaon or massively drop his points if they changed Slayer of Kings to only work on unmodified rolls of 6, the whole point of that ability is to stack buffs with his keyword shenanigans, without it the ability would almost never trigger. I'm fully expecting Daughters and Legion to get knocked down a peg in the next FAQ and GHB. GW seems to good at targeting OP stuff (Tzeentch says hi) though if they derp out and leave them be while nerfing Chaos I'll be taking a break from AoS until they pull their head out of their rear.
  19. Honestly, I thought Orktober would be both 40k and AoS. The poster gives me hope but I feel things are going to need to speed up if we're going to be seeing a lot of both 40k and AoS releases this month.
  20. I run my GUO with the sword and flail. Not saying its the best way to use him but I've found him worth bringing in tournaments. He pretty much requires Gyrstrike or something to buff his hit though since that base 4+ leads to way too many wiffs. He can make for a decent hitter and still support with his 2 spells/dispels and command ability (which can be quite good on himself). My last tournament I brought him and the Glottkin with the idea of buffing a big 30 brick of Plaguebearers with extra attacks and blades (and fleshy abundance for tanky fun). The reality was even with the Wheel, Scrivener, and +2 attacks the plague bearers still didn't hit very hard due to 1 inch attack range and 32mm base. Glottkin couldn't really get the spells off with needing a hard 7 and enemy dispels (though the few times I got abundance off it was huge, plaguebearers became virtually immortal, Blades was honestly lackluster for how hard it is to cast, maybe if you had some +hit). So I wound up just putting the extra attacks on the GUO and having him kill stuff using the plaguebearers as a screen/objective holders. Worked well enough. Personally I feel the bell is a little overrated. Still good but with the wheel +2 move and trees I don't often find myself hurting for extra movement. An extra +1 to cast would be really nice so I'd consider sword+dagger combo.
  21. Could be a good reason to take the "new" Enlightened on foot. You give up a lot for those 40 points but if you're keeping them behind a screen it doesn't really matter.
  22. I'm assuming this is a bug but my app updated and Putrid Blightkings are no longer battleline....
  23. The App has been updated but doesn't have a Beasts of Chaos allegiance option. Is this an error or am I missing something about how the new book works?
  24. Got a tournament this weekend and am trying to decide between two lists. I know they're not the most optimal but its what I got model wise. Glottkin List: Heroes: The Glottkin 420 Horticulous Slimux 220 Spoilpox Scrivener 100 Great Unclean One 340 Units: Plaguebearers x30 320 Plaguebears x30 320 Putrid Blightkings x5 160 Endless Spells: Soulsnare Shackles 20 Total 1900 for 2 extra command points Tallyband List: Heroes: Great Unclean One 340 Horticulous Slimux 220 Spoilpox Scrivener 100 Poxbringer 120 Units: Plaguebearers x30 320 Plaguebearers x30 320 Putrid Blightkings x5 160 Plague Drones x3 200 Warscroll Battalion-Tallyband of Nurgle 220 Total: 2000 with 1 extra command point due to battalion. I'm liking the idea of running the Tallyband for kicks but I'm worried that the loss of Blades of Putrefaction and the extra attack will cripple the list offensively. I do have a Beast of Nurgle, a 2nd unit of Plague Drones, and a unit of Nurglings. I'm hoping to get some summoning action (hence Slimux) and was thinking of taking the Nurglings instead of Spoilpox in the Tallyband list ( since without stacking attacks and blades the reroll 1s loses it luster) but the combination of having to deploy in cover and more than 9 inches way I think would make them hard to get into enemy territory turn 1.
  25. I'd like to see some wizards. I know dwarf wizards are unconventional but Malign Sorcery specifically mentions Fyreslayer wizards at one point and the rune tunneling and the volcano ability of the Runesmiter and Runefather are basically magic anyways. Beyond that, more unit variety would be nice. I'd like to see a unit of armored fyreslayers for the sake of painting and visual variety (not sure how to justify it lore wise other than something, something, runes). Female fyreslayers would be nice just to make them feel like a more complete people (personal pet peeve when factions only have male miniatures). I like the idea of cavalry but with maybe chariots? They could be used to give the fyreslayers a quick moving unit that hits really hard but lacks staying power. I also love the idea of a mega-chariot pulled by magmadroths for the sheer coolness factor.
