Vash1313
I'm looking to run a 1500 pt tournament in the next couple of months. How much terrain and what kinds of terrain do you recommend for a 6 x 4 table?
Gauche
For me it really depends on the footprint of the Terrain. I like 1-2 pieces per area with at least 2-4 pieces of LoS blocking/hindering Terrain. I think having the pieces towards the middle is also important, prevents shooting Units from hanging far back as much and keeps the Terrain in the game as the armies close, which keeps it relevant. Overall 1/3 to 1/2 the space being filled with terrain per 2x2 area is what I like and seems to have pretty good results. Your mileage may vary. RuneBrush
Difficult one to answer with a specific answer. Recently I'd say the general feeling seems to be more terrain adds quite a bit of variety and helps to get a good game. But it really depends on how large the terrain in question is. Enough for 2~3 pieces per 2ft square seems pretty good, though if one of those is a Malefic Gate sized piece, then one would likely be enough for that 2ft square
The Jabber Tzeentch
Yeah the basic rules way of rolling for terrain is pretty good on average it works out about 8 pieces of terrain, but as mentioned above depending on the sizes of the terrain you may want more or less. I think around 10-12 is best personally
deynon
It depends if you want to point on "themed tables" or on "balanced tables" and quite a bit too on the sizes of the scenics too.
rokapoke
Keep in mind that the recommended table sizes are 4x4 for 1000 points and 6x4 for 2000 points. Since you're at a point level in between, I would suggest either a well-terrained 6x4 or a (relatively) lightly-terrained 4x4.
SuperHappyTime
AoS rules for terrain placement break down close to this for each 2'x2' section: Roughly 10% no terrain, 40% one terrain piece, 40% two terrain pieces, 10% three terrain pieces, give or take a few percentage points.
