Mixed Destruction Army List / Armies on Parade (Won 1st Place!)

Looking to finalise my army list that represents the forces I want to get onto my Armies on Parade entry. I thought I'd sketch it out at 2000 points, but may end up putting less models on the board, depending on how busy it looks.

The thought behind this is a mixed specialism force, with the Ironjawz providing the solid hitting power, whilst the Grots and the Artillery provide ranged support. Squigs are included because, well Squigs look awesome? Not to mention that on the display board, my Drumming Warchanter can now be acompanied by a small Grot band :)

Orruk Megaboss (140pts)
Orruk Warboss (140pts) - Waaagh Banner
Grimgor Ironhide (140pts)

Grot Rock Lobber (100pts)
Grot Rock Lobber (100pts)
Grot Spear Chukka (120pts)

Grots (120pts) [20 Grots (120pts)]
Ogors (120pts) [3 Ogors (120pts)]
Ogors (120pts) [3 Ogors (120pts)]
Cave Squigs (180pts) [3x 5 Cave Squigs (180pts)]
Grot Squig Herders (40pts) [2x 2 Grot Squig Herders (40pts)]

Battalion: Ironfist (60pts)
Orruk Warchanter (80pts)
Orruk Ardboys (180pts) [10 Ardboys (180pts)]
Orruk Brutes (180pts) [5 Brutes (180pts)]
Orruk Gore-Gruntas (180pts) [3 Gore-Gruntas (180pts)]

Hey @Lucio,

What's the plan for the board/army? The best Armies on Parade entries I've seen tend to have an overall theme, almost telling a story with their board.

This looks like it could have an old skool Orc & Goblin greenskin horde feel to it. I do feel you're perhaps lacking a big centrepiece.

As for in game, I'm not too sure how it'll play. You have plenty of units and some decent stuff, it quite a bit different to most the lists I see around here so fair play for that.

Be sure to share progress.

Some interesting choices but looks fun! Why did you go for Lobbas instead of Doom Divers? Also a Warchanter isn't part of an Ironfist. I really like Cave Squigs aesthetically, but dropping them would get you most of the points needed for a Mangler Squigg, which is far superior. Just some thoughts.

The overall theme is an Ironjawz encampment just prior to a raid on enemy territory, so we'll see the supporting elements for the army, as well as the overall forces involved. You're right I'm lacking a centre piece in the army list, but for the AoP board, there's an unlisted Forgemaster, built out of an Ogre Butcher, complete with his forge and assisstants. If I can pull off even a fraction of my internal vision, it should be both large and striking.

Best way to describe my inspiration is the scene in LoTR 2 when they're flying over the Uruk-Hai preparations for war on the Ents. In fact, to help keep costs down a little, I'm looking to use the LotR artillery pieces, both the Uruk-Hai seige bow, and the catapult.

Prefered the reliable "thump" of 3 damage vs the variable d6 damage, plus the chance to get 2 shots off has to be of some use.

Mangler squig is a good point, but these guys were my deference to a theme inclusions. My Megaboss is already built with squigs you see, therefore he needs both a culling herd, and some pipers/musicians to keep them in line.

Well, I've managed to make a start! The general board and terrain is in place, though now I've realised that

a) I'll need special primer to paint the polystyrene
b) That I need a lot more logs for the fort wall that first anticipated, so back to hacksawing and dremelling and pencil sharpening for me!

First watchtower and the gate are in place now. Given how quickly the terrain area is filling up, I'm thinking for the purposes of this display to leave it at a single watchtower and warmachine

Which then leaves a drawbridge to cross the gap, and the 2 remaining walls to be built before painting can start.

Ok, so I suck! Dunno how I let this thread get away from me.

Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your child, that's awesome!!

Reading through the post and looking at the board develop over the WIP shots is very cool - it came together really well, you should be super pleased! I love all the little details.

Congrats on your win as well!!
